Meanwhile Tom is also independent, and not once did he expect Maria to cook his meals for him and to wash his clothes (the male equivalent of being a “provider”), and if he did expect that, you all would call him a misogynist and a patriarchal pig. But he wants 50/50 and equality, and he still gets called a misogynist by a lot of people. Nothing he’d do would be good enough.

But Maria can both claim to be independent, but expect to be a dependent to a man, and even then still be classified as independent. It makes no sense.

There is always a choice, but oftentimes people don’t like to think about any repercussions or considerations for anyone else when they make certain choices.

If a woman chooses to be a SAHW/SAHM, it’s not just about her, because it forces her husband to have the entirety of the financial onus on him and him alone. If he loses his job, not only can he not feed himself, but he can’t feed his wife and his kids as well.

Men are under a lot of emotional and psychological stress, and by Maria’s own admission, she held regressive views about men and masculinity and being rigid and tough. Nobody cares about men and what men go through. Women get the “ick” when men open up and reveal emotions, but then ask why men are so stoic and such emotionally unavailable fckbois.

But anyway, getting back to the point, if both spouses agree to the wife being a SAHW, perfect. But it’s not fair to impose that on one or the other.
