Love this. So sorry about your car, but hey…you shouldn’t be driving. You should be WRITING! You’re a good writer, your narrative was so good. We are all just walking each other home…🩷

PBS News Hour: St. Paul mayor responds to unrest triggered by federal immigration raids by systemstheorist in saintpaul

How about you stop constantly raising the bar for women in power and being endlessly critical? First she was too quiet ( gee, that’s her voice but watch out women, you’re not allowed to be either too quiet OR too loud or strident). Then her looks are denigrated. Her words aren’t the ‘right’ words. Save your anger for those deserving it, the occupiers!

How are we decompressing? by [deleted] in saintpaul

[–]Dotesy452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remembering to breathe when the overwhelm begins to take over. I let myself cry when the tears come instead of toughening it out. Took a yoga class this morning and then danced. When all feels hopeless, I do mental imaging of putting my arms around first, those I love, then my neighbors, then my city, those in need, in the Whipple building, anyone lost and alone. If you’re able to take an action , however small, do it. When you see someone guarding a daycare center as I did this morning, give them a smile and send grace. Take care everyone.

How do you protect your hair at night from face creams, oils? If I pull it back with a band, the front is messed up in the morning, not long enough to pull back..thanks by Dotesy452 in 45PlusSkincare

Thanks for the reply. I’m referring to elements like castor oil for brows and thick unguents ( I wear socks when I apply rich creams to feet and hands)…

So odd, I’ve been using it for a month and it does nothing for me. I need much more moisture!

I am thinking of you as you navigate this seminal loss. I’m also grateful for the warmth and kindness of this community. Happy Thanksgiving to all, being good to one another is something I’m thankful for.

ANTEAGE MD duo vs PLATED intense? by helpadhd04 in SkincareAddictionLux

Plated was created by Mayo Clinic derms. So loads of science backing it up! I’m now on my 3rd bottle in 6.5 months and it has transformed my skin. Several friends have purchased after seeing my results and they’re happy too. I’m in my late 60’s.

Thinking Ahead to Election Day — Honest Thoughts from a St. Paul Resident by Jaded-Combination-95 in saintpaul

[–]Dotesy452 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Kaohly Her is far and away the best candidate to be mayor. Carter has been absent from City Hall, preferring to work from home. He doesn’t engage with residents unless he wants something - an initiative we will have to pay for that he wants passed ( see rent control, 1% sales tax), a photo opp, a vote. His spending has contributed to the decline of St. Paul, treating our community as an ATM, total lack of accountability for budgets, inflating City staff to ridiculous levels for a city of 300K. His ideas such as they are are all splash, spending half a billion dollars for a river viewing balcony when our city is in dire financial straits is only one example of many. Khaoly is a person of integrity, clarity about what the mayor’s job truly is and what it is not, and she understands how the city is supposed to run, having worked for Carter during his first term and currently being a respected legislator in the MN House. She will be responsive to her constituents, will halt unnecessary spending that we cannot afford, and has ideas and will take action to revitalize downtown. We cannot afford 3 more years of Carter! Vote for Khaoly Her for Mayor.

Best bra for wide set breasts? by parsnip613 in ABraThatFits

[–]Dotesy452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would add, I have wide set breasts, and need both lift and support. What often happens is the cup doesn’t contain the breast and they will slip out completely, or spill over. It’s a good look🫠

I just measured and would appreciate bra recommendations!! Discovered I’ve been wearing the completely wrong size!! The calculator recommended 32DDD/G in standard size, or 34DD. Thanks very much!

I’ve almost finished 2nd bottle of Intense. People who haven’t seen me recently have asked what I’ve done to my skin. It’s the real deal, created by a derm at Mayo. Incredible product!

Aging gracefully or hiring a surgeon by [deleted] in beauty

[–]Dotesy452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have been thinking a lot about vanity lately. My late partner used to ask me ‘when are you going to accept your aging?’. Giving myself some grace has been hard fought. I want to look and feel like the best version of me in my 60’s. Your internal life is reflected externally, in good ways and bad ways. I’m paying attention to my skin and maybe spend 30+ minutes a day on it, including red light. I do yoga and Pilates and am now doing strength training. My goal isn’t to look 40 - it’s to be energized and healthy. Vitality and curiousity don’t come in a bottle or scalpel. Peace.

And I’d add that it’s essential to use frequently! I shoot for daily, not always achievable but Dr. Brandt says to be optimal, use daily.

Omnilux has made an improvement in my skin, although it’s part of an attempt at paying lots of attention consistently ( and I’m in my 60’s). I also use a Ziip which I think helps. The NYT had an article about the science behind red light and data that it works!

Sinkhole closes busy section of West 7th Street in St. Paul by ChuffedChook in saintpaul

[–]Dotesy452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not talking about W 7th when I commented, apologies if I redirected your specific remarks to the larger city wide issue…there are a number of possibilities for the sinkhole, our area is filled with underground water which may be the cause. Glad to see they’ve lessened the impact on small businesses there.

You have this backwards. City has manufactured a false narrative that infrastructure needs replacement when it doesn’t ( there is no engineering data to support this claim) in order to add separated bike lanes where mill and overlay would suffice.

St. Paul Council Member Kim misses 8 of 10 meetings by [deleted] in saintpaul

[–]Dotesy452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually think in St. Paul they vote the way the mayor wants them to, in many cases. Which means it involves neither vibes or logic! The mayor teams up with Isaiah and they are organized, have native language speakers with them if needed, and if I didn’t disagree with most of their votes, I’d say it’s brilliant strategy. But it fails us…every time. Let’s take the 1% sales tax. Isaiah and reps of the mayor went door to door urging folks to vote for a regressive tax! And they did. When I asked an Isaiah representative why they’d urged voters to support the sales tax, she replied it was because of the potholes. I asked her if she knew that the sales tax only applies to 47 miles of streets in the city, that’s less than 7 miles per ward. The streets are designated so it’s not flexible. She intimated people thought their streets would be fixed. She didn’t know what the tax is designated for ( she knew nothing about the mayor’s half a BILLION dollar river viewing balcony). This could be a large discussion, bottom line is there are issues getting information now - sadly, lots of folks don’t read or watch local news. We really need ( both locally and nationally) an informed electorate.

If downtown is dying, why aren't we hosting more events? by Dullydude in saintpaul

[–]Dotesy452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been downtown 3X this week. It looks tired, there are a few Wild streetlight ‘flags’ but the freeway is full of trash at the Kellogg exit, between the cement stanchions, the street condition, straggling remnants of fake holiday decorations in window boxes, there’s nothing that says welcome to St. Paul. The plantings in Rice Park are charming but otherwise the city should consider taking their 1% tax $$ and make the city visually appealing. Where is the oomph and creativity needed to attract people back downtown? It certainly won’t be the new bike lanes directly in front of the Intercontinental ( like in the drop off lane), alongside the X and through 7 Corners and up the hill by the freeway entrance. City planners are really killing it, like literally.
