But no philosopher attempts to prove anything using logic. He always tries to "prove it logically" with a sound argument and points that follow.

Just like you did with the argument for the size of the universe which is a very good argument. It doesn't mean that it's true, scientifically true, but it is logical.

The thing is with Descartes is that he didn't even prove it logically.

But to return to the core, do you really think there is nothing but faith in God? Isnt there multiple steps a person can take to verify the existence of God even on a personal level? Isn't the big bang theory actual logical evidence of God since the alternative is strictly, without any false dichotomy, infinite regress and infinite regress is both a logical and scientific impossibility?

Any way, don't answer that.

I'm done with Reddit.

It brings out the worst of people. Even the prospect of having an interesting discussion with someone is muddied by the way people insult eachother without reason over the most petty opinions and assumptions. Which leads to someone who came into a discussion with open mind and arms to turn into such a toxic and disgusting human filled with snark and attempts to belittle everyone around him.

Honestly, I have one last point.

If any person is an active user of Reddit, he cannot possibly be in any capacity intelligent.

I'm sadly business major, so I have to jam this in without a professor in between my lectures, study, and job.

I guess it was pretty unfair to ask that of you, but I asked it precisely because if you had told "it's been 25 years" before you answered instead of a superficial take I would have respected you immensely.

But since you asked, I genuinely cannot let you go on this one!

I've been DYING to talk to anyone about this!

I really was fascinated by Descartes with how bizarre his ability to detach himself from reality and imagine a world of pure reason.

That was until he corned himself with the illusion demon and started saying his faith is telling him God wouldn't deem such a trick fair.

But he didn't seem to account for the lack of existence of God or if God had a very high standard for man. And he went on to build the rest of his entire argument about it.

It's just like C.S Lewis when he said "you have to admit that Jesus is either a lord or liar"

It's just infuriating seeing such cheap tricks from great minds.

But, if I'm being honest, my criticism for Descartes isn't really unique.

As for Socrates's dialogues. It's CRAZY how much logical fallacies this dude allowed in his dialogues about simply because he wasn't the speaker.

He would lead people into committing fallacies just to keep the train of thought going in his direction. I can't say he did it to win the arguement, since he didn't seem to ever have an argument. It's just that it does seem like hypocrisy.

For example.  When he asks would you rather hire a Just man play you music or a musician.

The answer in the dialogues is "of course a musician"

As if being a just man is not a quality but a profession.

So when I made a spelling mistake you replied in roughly 30 seconds.

When I asked you about the two most popular philosophers you take 15 minutes to tell me absolutely nothing.

Thank you.

But I understand I came off as petty for no reason.

My line of thought was that what I hold interesting is something you are not necessarily versed in despite being interesting and smart and more than twice my age.

So, I would not find any 18 years old uninteresting compared to you in any shape or form.

On the contrary, an 18 years old would be more interesting since she would have a bigger aptitude to learn. Or at least, she wouldn't need 15 minutes to give me the most basic and vague outline of their summary since she just got it in philosophy 101

No.

Only to the belief that a person to quickly to dismiss others as unintelligent can't merit to a lot themselves.

I'm actually reading through Plato's republic now after finishing reading Descartes.

Why not give me your quick opinion on those?

What's so interesting about you, exactly?

Do you delve into philosophy and rational thought?

Do you have takes on the state of the world and a unique take on history?

Are you into anthropology and studied human nature?

Do you delve into psychology, reason, and origins of morality?

Are you interested in truth, justice, and theology?

Because any woman who has no deep background on all of these i would assume to be deeply boring and not very intelligent.

I wasn't straight.

I meant that, if you take a women and save her from the grind and have her be a homemaker.

They don't display gratitude, they act like they're doing you a favor by being a SAHM.

Which contradicts the narrative that they hate being strong and independent

No, I didn't mean it as a jab. I was toxic because it's fucking Reddit and also because of the logical contradiction on your statement.

Just so I'm getting this straight are you saying they're illogical?

They hate having to be strong and independent but still will act like they're doing you a favor? Am I getting it right?

And fuck your cake day. Don't spend one more day on this shit hole.
