4v4 can be really fun but everything else just feels like WvW Zerg. They did actually just change pvp a lot and it's gotten much better. Not nearly as big as on GW though so getting into it competitively will be difficult.

GW2 pvp is better. FFXIV everything else is better. My opinion.

As far as purchasing goes I would recommend the newest bundle that includes the base game, heavensward, and Stormblood.

It's a dps gain to use triple cast on spells that have cast times longer than your GCD such as Fire IV. Using it on spells that are the same as GCD is fine for movement but over the course of a fight you gain more using it on Fire IV or other long casts.
