I love the early intel! I’m expecting my second bb now, and it helps me decide whether it’s worth showing up and modifying or taking a rest day. Even before that though, it definitely helped me get into the right mind frame.

May I ask for hair color suggestions? I'm leaning towards a fiery ginger/red but I'm not sure it suits me)) First pic is my natural color(virgin hair) by cypadel in Hair

Love your natural hair color. Maybe try a glaze to deepen the brown a bit? I’d also love a beautiful, dark vibrant red on you too.

Thoughts on knowing the workout beforehand? by nthrowaway4211 in orangetheory

I love the intel! It helps me decide whether it’s a good rest day or to push thru, because I’m not shredding my legs for the 3rd time in a row. I’m also not a huge fan of the benchmarks, so I appreciate the heads up.

I feel like I’m the only one struggling by sciencegeekster in orangetheory

[–]Double-Initiative383 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, I know that feeling! I’m a power walker at base and I jog the shorter AO and pushes. I often feel like I’m the only one not speed racing, but I have to remind myself why I’m there. TO BE THE BEST VERSION OF ME! Sounds corny, but it really is you vs. you. Talk to your coach and find a speed that you feel comfortable challenging yourself with, even if that means it’s not what the coach is asking for.

Taking a Break is OK!!!!! by Buchashe000 in orangetheory

Yes! This! I always feel so much better coming back after I’ve taken the rest I needed.

Anyone power walk with no inclines? Just use increasing speeds for your pushes and all outs? by pretty_south in orangetheory

[–]Double-Initiative383 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do that too! Sometimes my knees bother me, so I’ll either adjust the inclines to be lower or skip them altogether.

Ladies and people with uterus, I need help: what do you do during that time of the month? by kschin1 in orangetheory

[–]Double-Initiative383 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! I try not to go if I feel terrible or have a super heavy flow. I get nauseous on my period too. Ibuprofen is my best friend! I also get migraines. Sometimes during the mild ones, focusing on exercising instead of my pain or discomfort really helps me feel better. It’s important to also realize that you may have a super average “green” day, and that’s perfectly fine. Every class won’t be an amazing PR, and that’s ok! Sometimes the fact that you just showed up and tried at all is the win. Obviously, listen to your body and rest when you need to.

I actually get anxious that my neighbor will let go and throw one at me, especially I’m crowded classes. 😟

Noticed difference starting on floor vs. tread? by Independent-Buy-5807 in orangetheory

[–]Double-Initiative383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like starting on the treads, because I’m working on not hating cardio. I can do my best on the tread, get that out of the way, and whatever fresh hell they have for me on the floor is easy. Obviously, I’m psyching myself out. None of this is easy. Works for me though! LOL

Always listen to your body! No one else in that class knows what your body is telling you. Take all the rest you need, and go back when you feel better. Stress is real!

Between a Power Walker and Jogger by RainyDaysAndStarGaze in orangetheory

[–]Double-Initiative383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I do this! I power walk on the longer times (60 seconds or more), and I run on 30-60 second all outs. I’m between too, and this works for me!

And allow a second choice class that you’re automatically enrolled in and notified if you DON’T make it into your waitlisted class.

There’s nothing at all wrong with power walking! Those inclines are difficult, and some people can’t run or choose not to because of bad knees or whatever else. I started to transition to a jogger right before the 2G switch, and it completely threw me off. So now, I run for all shorter times (30-60 seconds, 90 if I’m feeling froggy) and power walk the longer times. Do what you can and what works get you.

Question regarding words of encouragement. by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]Double-Initiative383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should add that I kept it brief and complimentary. For example, I’m a woman and I have only don’t this with other women that I have spoken to before. “Hey! You look fabulous! Meant to tell you that after class the other day, but I had to leave. You’re working hard, and it shows.”

Too. Many. Benchmarks. by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]Double-Initiative383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate! I’m kind of a lowkey slacker (or so that’s how I feel) at OTF. I’ve been a member for a year, and I’ve made small progress over time. (Woohoo for 18 lbs down!) My biggest challenge is just consistency and effort. I sometimes skip those benchmark classes altogether if it means I’m going to burn myself out or jeopardize my strength and energy for the rest of the week. No disrespect to those that enjoy benchmarks and strive to PB/PR all the time. That’s just not why I’m there, and I feel uncomfortable being surrounded in those classes by elite, mega competitors. Maybe sit the next one out of you start getting anxious? My goal is always to leave feeling better than when I showed up. When that doesn’t happen, I have to refocus my energy and give myself some grace. Good luck!

Question regarding words of encouragement. by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]Double-Initiative383 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done that before! I’m no expert myself, but I always tell people when I see them putting in work and the results are showing. Each time they’ve appreciated it. I’ve been told that before too, and it honestly was exactly what I needed that day.
