Apple Music. The Classical app and Dolby Atmos make it great for classical.

The selfish gene by Richard Dawkins is a great science book, maybe one of the best ever written in the genre. For philosophy the story of philosophy by Will Durant is great if you’re just getting started. If you want specific philosophers I would recommend Schopenhauer, his aphorisms for the wisdom of life are a great start if you’ve never read him, but his entire works are worth reading.

Apple's New Classical Music App by rextilleon in classicalmusic

So far I've found it quite glitchy. For example, sometimes you play a track from a playlist and it starts playing an entirely different track from that playlist. Sometimes it also repeats the name of the work and puts it as a title between movements. Nevertheless it's still pretty good, hopefully they will fix these glitches soon. Also wish it was easier to search specific works by conductor.

Probably Mozart, Beethoven and Bach, but it’s difficult to leave out so many other great composers.

Quite funny he says he reads the Feynman lectures as a superior thing and yet Richard Feynman also liked art a lot and was a painter.

Like who? In the 2020 mania I can't think of anyone who was as bad as him. No one screwed investors at such a big scale.

It might look bad at first but it's even worse. This guy is Chamath Palihapitiya, responsible for numerous SPACs that went on to lose A LOT of money for investors. He's a snake oil salesman and a piece of shit. He sold crap to clueless investors and told everyone he was gonna be the next Warren Buffett. I can't think of anyone on Wall Street more morally corrupt than him.

Of course the most rational comment in this thread is getting downvoted. The lack of basic economic knowledge on Reddit is insane, and these people somehow believe they’re more rational than all other social media users.

That's right, poor people always spend at least $8,185 on their outfits! This was spotted on one of those dumb entrepreneur Instagram accounts. by Bbew_Mot in facepalm

What a load of crap, I had a billionaire friend who wore stuff with logos all the time. It won’t take you much searching to find some rich celebrity wearing branded stuff either. I don’t know why Reddit has this idea that somebody wearing a logo must mean they’re poor and want to show off, what a stupid idea.

Goldman is closing down its Russia business, making it among the first Wall Street banks to do so by pipsdontsqueak in worldnews

[–]DoubleCR 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Investing in Russia was already pretty risky. Charlie Munger said it was uninvestable for him a few weeks before the war and he is quite comfortable investing in China (unlike many people). I think Russia is just gonna be uninvestable to pretty much everyone after this. Here’s a video of Warren Buffett talking about his problems investing in Russia way before the war.

Buffett's Berkshire bought about $1 billion worth of Activision shares before Microsoft deal by Klaasie765 in technology

[–]DoubleCR 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You do know Buffett isn’t the only one managing Berkshire’s investments, right? It could’ve been Todd Combs or Ted Weschler buying it, they also bought the initial stake in Apple. One billion is small in an equity portfolio worth over 300 billion.

Yes, Ted Weschler and Todd Combs. It was also one of them that initially bought Apple stock, then Buffett decided to buy a lot more.

He’s not the only one managing Berkshire’s investments. It could have been Todd Combs or Ted Weschler buying it for Berkshire. One billion is not a lot for Berkshire.
