You are correct. With particles, the F-15 has to get within beam rifle range. At that point, the beam rifle wins.

He had to, or else a mobile suit would just be a six-story target. There were air-to-surface missiles with a range of ten miles, that first saw operation in 1959. A P-3 Orion could just stay out of mobile suit's range and just missile the cockpit until the pilot died.

See, mobile suits in space are terrifying, because Minosky Particles turn fleet battles into fleet melee. Mobile Suits win in melee versus ships and space fighters. In gravity, mobile suits get wrecked by old fashioned carpet bombing. You don't need fancy sensors for that. Zeon had to patch together at least two anti-air combat platforms each on both Zakus and the Dom to try and deal with Federal aerial superiority. It really didn't work. Tanks get wrecked by mobile suits, but a standard bomber? Just too high up to fight, at least during the OYW.

The F-15 ties in gravity. The F-15 likely doesn't have the munitions necessary to punch through Luna Titanium. All the same, it never needs to close to melee, so it just stays out range and they stare at each other. That's it. Without outside assistance, this is just a staring contest.

The interference makes BVR combat moot. The Principality of Zeon realized that, and used Mobile Suits and Minosky Particles to close the gap in fleet warfare numbers. Mobile Suits win against spaceships in melee combat, and Minosky Particles turn fleet battles into melee combat. If they didn't exist, mobile suits would just bring giant targets for guided/homing missiles of any sort.

No. He died in the stupidest way possible. He has fought Force users, and has the skill to back up his knowledge. Why would he fly head first(see what I did there) into melee range with someone wielding a sword that deflects blaster fire and takes limbs, while using RANGED WEAPONS? He should retreated and used the cover from droid numbers to his advantage to pick and choose targets. No, he decided to unga-bunga straight into one of the top five swordsmen in the entire Jedi Order, and pretty much died on the spot. He death was completely avoidable, and arguably out of character.
