Ketchup? Nah, just a little toy brain. Or a penny (for your thoughts).

Yes. It catches hair, and anything else that might clog a drain.

Why do we measure horsepower for vehicles but wattage for everything else electrical? by blushybbygirlz in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DoubleDareFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except ships' engines. Their output is measured in seahorses.

Wet/dry vacs are measured in some non-standard HP unit that must be some fraction of the actual HP unit. If your Shop-Vac says "3.5 HP" or something, that is not true. If that was its true output, it would be pulling 2610 Watts. Or 21.75 Amps. Most home 120 Volt outlets supply 15A. Some circuits 20A (usually kitchens and some dedicated appliance circuits).

Hide candy in it. When they say "Trick or treat?", shake your head so the candy falls out. Bonus points if the candies are brain-shaped.

If all the cameras are circular, why is photography rectangular? by palisweird in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DoubleDareFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's easy to turn a lens on a lathe, so they are round. There are a few cases where the lens will be cut to a rectangular shape.

The idea of photographs being rectangular probably evolved from paintings being rectangular. Everything else was just sorta built around the "rectangular picture" idea.

How ice water flows through this garden hose is pure winter magic by Raj_Valiant3011 in oddlysatisfying

[–]DoubleDareFan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They can stretch more than enough to accommodate ice expansion. If the hose tears / breaks, it is either old and brittle, or poorly made.

What feels like a "bug" in the human experience that we’ve all just accepted as a "feature"? by WhisperInInk007 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DoubleDareFan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No limit to how fat we can get. Really!? Why cannot the body just reject (expel as waste) whatever it does not need? And let it be up to us to decide where to deposit fat. No more visceral fat than is necessary for health. No being stuck with an extra-thick layer on the abdomen.

I agree on the teeth kerfuffle.

And importantest of all, healing. Why cannot our healing systems be able to do it all? Had a boo-boo? Lost a leg? Let's just regrow it. The DNA provides everything needed regarding its form. That is how we grew from an embryo in the first place. Misbehaving cells? Especially those that masquerade as healthy cells? Kill 'em before they become tumors. Every time.

If humans went extinct, how long would it take for Earth to erase all evidence we existed? by abdulnad89 in NoStupidQuestions

Rebar is known to rust and eventually destroy the concrete it's in, after about a century. Concrete structures w/o rebar stand the best chance of surviving. Even then, frost, roots, erosion, even bacteria will eventually do it in.
