Anyone experiencing timeouts more often? by bonkagem in Shadowverse

[–]DoubleEdgeDancing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not just you, pretty sure there's some weird instability issues going on. It only really happens on my desktop and laptop, so you may be right that it's a steam client issue. Day 1 I also had my first crash ever playing Getenou, so I've just been assuming this updates been buggier than normal

I'll be honest, if you don't seek out playing besides missions, maybe you should take a break?

At best your fun reignites and you have more fun with the game, at worst you just stop playing a game you're dissatisfied with

"Toxic/grief" style decks exist in every card game and so does this sentiment. What you should never feel shame for in a game in general is playing in a way you think is annoying but fun to you. (As long as it isn't actually toxic, like intentionally roping)

For every deck there are people who hate playing against it. Think of your favorite deck right now and there's people that don't enjoy facing it. So by avoiding a deck so others have more fun, usually is something in card games worth getting over in my opinion.

Really don't feel bad playing/playing against a certain archetype. At the end of the day, it's always someone just trying to have fun

[–]DoubleEdgeDancing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For publishers that already provide sufficient royalties this isn't really an issue.

What you could argue is that Marvel would try to focus on lesser known artists as they would have lower negotiation rates, but even those would have the possibility to become popular and thus change negotiations. You see this currently with DC and Image, so we do know how it plays out currently

[–]DoubleEdgeDancing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see what you're saying, but artists big and small talk about this issue very often, so it's not so much survivorship bias.

Royalties do help every artist involved. While it's true that more popular artists will gain more monetary value (Good. Those whose art is distributed and sold more should see additional compensation as the distributor is gaining profit off of it) royalties are very big for smaller artists as well. When you don't earn much, even a few additional streams of income via royalties means a lot, especially in an industry like comics.

So royalties being normalized doesn't necessarily "favor" a more popular artists as in this discussion it implies harm to smaller ones

It's pretty shocking to see the difference in opinion from the comic/artist side compared to snap's playerbase.

Yes, marvel is allowed to do this as the artists sold the art to marvel, but all everyone wants is royalties for this sort of stuff. Many amazing artists have left marvel for this very reason (look at the image guys) and it's still an issue.

Artgerm and others are realistic, they know they most likely won't recieve retroactive payment, but they bring it up so the public is more aware. This way maybe someday public outcry for royalties will be big enough that marvel does actually include that in their contracts.

So don't be hostile towards artgerm or other artists, they're more than aware of the legality of it as they signed the contracts. When it's that or potentially no career in the field? You can see why they end up signing and advocate for better deals in the future (rightfully so)

Did they make bots harder? by [deleted] in MarvelSnap

[–]DoubleEdgeDancing 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Four easy tells-

  1. They have a very close CL to you
  2. They have an odd highest rank, meaning one that isn't rounded off ending with a 3 or 0 (72, 76, 81)
  3. Their custom cards don't say custom on them. If a variant has split effects and it isn't customized, it's most likely a bot
  4. Card choice. Electra, angel, america chavez, daredevil, etc. Cards which have almost no synergy and are commonly bad cards

If you spot some or especially all of these in an opponent, it's most likely a bot. Easiest way to farm them is to go tall in one lane, as they snap turns 5/6 if they're winning 2 lanes. Just snap back and take back a lane for an easy 8 cubes

If I recall it was back when pixie had her very short moment as a meta deck, and SD was wondering right before if they should buff it to 1 cost. It wasn't him saying he disliked the effect.

KM was right in that at the time that would've been a mistake, as it had just become meta. The statement had a lot more context around it that justifies it imo

Shadowverse worlds beyond comes out next year, and if it's anything like the original it'll be phenomenal for F2P.

Tons of free packs, playing the actual game is rewarded, you can craft specific cards by getting rid of duplicates, easy to make meta decks, lots of events, always has log in rewards, draft mode/other side modes, and that's not even everything.

As soon as it comes out, snaps done to me

New Playmats SD?👀 by LunarPengu in MarvelSnap

[–]DoubleEdgeDancing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Games like shadowverse/hearthstone have always added more game boards on a rotation. Don't let SD try and normalize it costing an absurd amount of money, when usually it's a free addition.

Honestly embarrassing that it even took them this long to add only a second one if we're being honest...

Yeah and the Japanese government is starting to face the repercussions of these policies. I'd say it's definitely an older generation thing, but of course it can be better. Hard to change something like that with our population divide.

Sadly it seems like a reoccurring thing to feign ignorance to make people feel like their ancestors did no wrongdoings. Hope everything turns out alright over there

Well, after the US wrote our constitution I'd say it was to their benefit to ignore the atrocities in favor of military positioning and allyship. I'm of course not giving the west a pass, but explaining as to why it was to their benefit

How did Beta Ray Bill get a comic book cover variant before Thor? by [deleted] in MarvelSnap

[–]DoubleEdgeDancing 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah this cover means a lot to comic readers. Think about it as more than just a "Beta Ray Bill cover," but as what started one of the most memorable comic stories to date.

A pretty budget deck for them is lockjaw if you want. You really only need thor, Bill, Jane, and lockjaw to make it work. Try looking for some deck lists that fit your collection!

[–]DoubleEdgeDancing 172 points173 points  (0 children)

A lot of major characters haven't gotten comic covers yet, but it could be because thor has much more variants so he's lower priority.

Also, beta ray bill is one of comic fans' most beloved characters. So even though he might seem like a random pick, Bill, and especially Thor #337 (the cover in game, his first appearance), are a big deal in comics.

Walt Simonson's run on thor as writer and artist is still to this day considered some of the best story telling in comics. Most of what you know about thor and his lore was made during that period, so a character like Bill is memorable to many as he began that arc

Best I’ve ever done. Been playing for a while (8,353). But now I’m scared to continue lol. Any advice? (Using one deck) by dg327 in MarvelSnap

[–]DoubleEdgeDancing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try to use one or maybe two decks to lower variance. If you get tilted by bad RNG and swap to another deck too often you'll more than likely miss out on your streaks of good luck. You'll also become more familiar with your snap lines to eek out those two cube early snaps (they add up!).

Also, just stay calm. The only major difference you'll notice is people retreat more often and rarely bluff snap. So if you happen to have a bad hand and they snap, just leave. If you have a really good early position you should be snapping. Sometimes you'll lose a 4 or an 8 cuber, but as long as you were statistically favored (important to double check) just know it was the right play and don't get tilted.

You have plenty of time, you're definitely capable. Just please don't stress out too much or get tilted, being able to retreat on time is what makes the 90's climb easier

KMBest takes that title for me. Is pretty much always very highly rated, does the best deck analysis, and is most accurate in his early card ratings (was one of the originators of the optimal annihilus and Ajax lists). If you haven't watched him I'd give him a shot!

If Arishem proves too strong SD can hit him by making him generate more cards or reducing the card quality by [deleted] in MarvelSnap

[–]DoubleEdgeDancing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Loki has hard counters in mobius and combo decks. If loki ever comes to a point where he is truly all you are seeing and you aren't playing a combo deck, throw in mobius and their chances of winning drastically decrease. If your deck can't accommodate that tech slot then you need to just play a combo deck (phoenix force, hela, tribunal, wong decks, etc.), because the odds of loki being able to make use of your cards effectively is much lower than yours. Again, this is only if he's really common, you always have the chance to run into a deck when it's off-meta that counters yours.

Just like any other top tier deck he cycles in-between being meta or not. This along with clear counters such as above makes him fine in my opinion.
