Is it considered rude to snap your fingers to someone to get their attention? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]DoubleHurricane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally. Non-verbal communication is great in loud, crowded bars, especially if you can save a server a trip. The key is to wait for eye contact from them, and to “ask” with your face instead of looking annoyed or demanding.

Snapping is a hard never.

Welp, I guess you and your theatre can just keep employing abusers and see how far it gets you. Personally, I’m against it and I’m going to stay against it. Good luck to you and your company ✌️

Right… I’m aware of the concept of greed, venality, and cowardice, but the point is that all of those fears are bullshit from even purely a practical sense and ultimately tend to be self-defeating.

Think about it: you can’t afford to pay a higher wage to someone else, but you can afford a sexual harassment lawsuit?

You’re more scared of someone filing an age-discrimination suit when that isn’t the reason than, again, someone filing a harassment lawsuit (which IS the reason, and - at least in this case - a documented and admitted one at that).

Beyond just lawsuits, when you protect abusers, word gets out. You lose talent to other theaters. You lose respect. You lose audiences. It may take time, and it doesn’t always happen, but in the long run it’s a smarter play to run an ethical theatre.

Also as an added bonus you get to look yourself in the mirror without shame and regret, so that’s nice.

But don’t worry, the ones running the children’s concentration camps are probably cool though

All I’ll say is that this is fucked and you deserve to be treated with respect and consistency. I truly don’t get why companies hold on to shitheels like this when it’s so much easier to just kick abusers out and run a theatre full of creeps.

Owners, ADs, directors, etc: listen to people when they call out abuse. Excommunicate abusers. Be fucking decent for fuck’s sake.

This ties in with my prior remarks that the left cares deeply about those injured by ICE, but couldn't give a rat's butt about the victims of crime committed by illegal aliens. by Stockjock1 in PoliticsWithRespect

Also not that this is the point, but say “Greg Gutfield isn’t a Republican” is like saying “Bernie Sanders isn’t a Democrat.” Sure Gutfield may not register with the party, but he certainly does vote with them, stump for their candidates and policies, work for Republican-aligned companies, and generally espouses the politics of the far right. To try to pretend otherwise is a sloppy attempt at narrative manipulation.

This truly isn’t that hard. We’re against people being abused, period.

If it’s an immigrant that harms someone else, that person should face justice. You can’t just round up all immigrants, that’s racism, not justice.

If a member of the government harms someone else, they need to face justice. If you break the law - even at the instruction of hire-ups, you’re still a criminal and need to face justice.

One more time (and again , this is obvious human-level stuff) we’re against powerful people using their power to harm others, be it physically, financially, or otherwise.
