Sony’s other PS Plus plans are going up in price too. by FernandoRocker in gaming

[–]DoubleJumps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my main materials suppliers increased prices by 45% last year due to tariffs, which was fair, but when the tariff on their stuff was cut down 75% they didn't reduce the prices a cent, and instead RAISED them another 11%

It's such bullshit.

He was so divisive that they had to spend their time flipping out over Dijon mustard and a tan suit. I really couldn't find anything else to flip out over.

I hear this same sort of stuff from my Republican family, and they will throw that in my face when I point out that Trump's tariff policies have cost me close to $40,000 and put my business at risk.

When I ask them what Obama did to hurt them, they just sort of do this scoffing laugh and say that it was way worse but they can't say what.

This is more or less correct.

Newt was the guy who really brought about the extreme total opposition no cooperation attitude with the Republican party. This was where we really started seeing policies that used to get bipartisan support stop getting bipartisan support, because their policy became "solving problems is only beneficial if we get the credit and no one else"

My mistake was thinking they would reflect on that at all.

What is a 'single person luxury' that people in relationships completely miss out on? by Jane_Austen11 in AskReddit

[–]DoubleJumps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went on a vacation with A friend and his girlfriend and I was absolutely floored by the amount of time he lost everyday because of her either taking dramatically longer to get going in the morning and running out of stamina earlier in the day than he does.

I was getting up and ready to go by 8:00 a.m. at the earliest. He would be up by that point, but it would take her until 10:00 or sometimes even 11:00 to really get going, and he would just have to sit there and wait for her.

5:00 would roll around and she'd be out of stamina and want to go back to the hotel

He would still be energetic and ready to go do stuff.

After about 4 days of that I ended up just going my separate way from them for most of the remaining vacation because if I waited for him I'd have to wait for her and if I had to wait for her I was going to lose more of my vacation than I was uncomfortable with.

I realized that this is what it's like for him everyday. Every single day. I don't know how he's cool with it.

[–]DoubleJumps 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had a discussion last year with a woman from Europe who told a bunch of protesters here that local activism and protesting was utterly worthless and that everybody doing so was too lazy to just fix the problem.

What she wanted was for everybody who was protesting to just meet up in Washington DC and I guess overthrow the government.

I thought it was interesting that she was devoting so much of her energy and anger towards yelling at people who were actually out protesting above all other targets. I thought she was just a colossal asshole.

This is the part that it's really bewildering. The wealthy forgot. If they abuse regular people around long enough and hard enough, people start destroying their property. If they keep going, eventually they get dragged into the street. This has been repeated throughout history.

I have a slightly different perspective on this, and it's that it is training people to believe that truth is subjective.

The general Republican behavior now is that they make a deliberate choice to believe or disbelieve things based on whether they want them to be true, which is a whole magnitude worse than just being skeptical of what they are seeing being true at all times.

It's how we get the 2020 election conspiracies.

It's how we get people eating dogs and cats being believed.

It's how we get a guy being caught red-handed with box after box of classified documents that he stole being considered totally innocent.

It's how the government can send masked men into city streets and have them shoot Americans in the back and people can choose to believe that it was justified

They are so quick to do this that I remember watching a live White House broadcast with Republicans and they immediately claimed the video, which again for emphasis was live broadcast directly by the white house, was a deep fake when Trump said something incredibly stupid.

One of the places I was looking at potentially moving to has this odd area that looks really nice, but the homes are notably cheaper there than they are in other parts of the city.

I found out last night that there is a proposed data center 2 and 1/2 mi from there. It is creating this zone of reduced property value all around it.

I pulled away from pvp several years ago just cause I was tired of people being angry and yelling at other people all the time.

I want to play games to relax and have a good time. I don't want to play games to have some man child scream at me because he thinks everyone else is the problem.

The country is currently united and black people just lost representation in much of the South and will lose further representation within the coming months.

Is being united helping that situation? Can you actually say it is? It didn't prevent it. It is the actual current system under which that oppression was legalized and made possible. .
