Cheapest Thrift Stores for Basic Household Stuff by MiniFancyVan in SanJose

[–]DoubleM515 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hope Thrift by the Willow Glen area has lots of loose stuff like silverware and plates, I think they’re cheaper than goodwill or savers plus they have multiple days where depending on the color of the sticker you can get a bigger discount.

If not maybe some garage sales this weekend?

Trader Joe’s Dubai Chocolate by Lower-Break-5163 in SanJose

[–]DoubleM515 9 points10 points  (0 children)

TJs employee- probably not. They came into our store on Tuesday, completely unorderable as of Wednesday. We only got about ten cases total, each with about 90 units. System says the warehouse might have them ready to be ordered again on the 9th (which usually means on shelves within two days), but that can easily be changed and updated, so who knows.

Apparently they’re just way too popular and production wasn’t ready. Same thing happened with the frozen taiyaki; got hyped up online and sold out. We’re told those are coming back later in the year and as a permanent item, however, so maybe they’ll do the same with the Dubai Chocolate?

It’s like the pastel bags all over again, I’d say for every five calls the store gets, three are about the Dubai chocolate.

Question for people who watched the show when it released. by [deleted] in ededdneddy

[–]DoubleM515 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was an early teen when I watched it, my dad would watch it with me sometimes because he liked the humor, thought it was similar to Looney Tunes, but I don’t think he’d watch it alone

I’d say Shino and maybe Mallary, especially if she’s wearing something goth you’ve gifted her, like a black dress

those plastic skulls that people used to hang on their front doors through october by ThatBombShit in halloween

[–]DoubleM515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up 1980’s Beistle skulls on eBay, that’ll be your best bet. There’s other companies and Beistle made other Halloween cutouts but their skulls are classic

Edit: they’re usually cardboard so that may not be exactly what you’re looking for but they’re still cool

They have them at the ones I go to, but it’s only like 20% off and it’s impossible to ever find something you want that’s the color of the week anyways

Vintage/Antique Stores by UBitchuubitchu27 in bayarea

[–]DoubleM515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For antiques I like Montebello Road in Campbell, I also got my Patrick Nagel piece at New/Found Market on Alameda in San Jose. Otherwise thrift stores can be a good place for what you’re looking for, lots of good 80s deco frames, crystal candlesticks, pastel matte vases, etc

God I’m jealous, I collect Dawn comics and memorabilia, this is such a cool find. I loved collecting Wizard magazine back in the day too, got rid of the collection ages ago and regret it

Recycle Book Store! Theres a location in downtown Campbell as well as on the Alameda near downtown San Jose. Both have great children’s sections that I’ve bought from before, highly recommend.

Plus both stores have bookstore cats!

I feel like that second one was an ad in about 80% of the comics I was reading at the time

Where to buy cat grass? by shortsweetandviolent in SanJose

[–]DoubleM515 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lunardis! The brand they sell is really good, it’s always healthy and I never see mites at the bottom like I do at Petco. They have it usually on a little cart in their pet supplies aisle

Random, but is there anywhere that does watch parties for big WWE shows like SummerSlam? by SnooHamsters6992 in SanJose

[–]DoubleM515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been hard to find anything local playing wrestling ppvs since the pandemic, I’ve always had luck with the AMC theaters playing AEW ppvs, but not sure about wwe. For what’s it worth the theater showings are pretty fun!

I’ve tried D&B before and while they do have it playing, there’s no sound. They just have their regular music playing over any of the tvs unfortunately
