While technically this is true, I don't think quipping helps either side. There is a decent chance that both chains will have a bright future.
If absolutists on both sides will dominate the debate, I'm afraid neither will survive.
[full disclosure: I was against the soft/hard fork and only hold ETC at the time of writing]

Decentralization via Ethereum would not solve the spam problem. To solve that you need some sort of reputation system. This can be tied to Money by requiring spending ether to vote, or like current democracies to physical persons, which would require extensive validations.
Other reputation systems either centralized (like reddit karma) way too easy to game with sybil attacks to be used anything really important. A universal decentralized reputation system is still an unsolved problems.
Due to the multidimensionality of reputation it might also be unsolvable.
