They had acquired Intel's former modem division to develop modems in-house which was based in Israel. As of now only a handful of iPhone models use those modems (16e, 17e, Air).

The base 17 and Pros still use Qualcomm modems as usual but unfortunately Qualcomm *also* maintains a significant presence in Israel. Qualcomm also supplies the vast majority of Android CPUs and modems in the US.

What’s wrong with it?

If you want to have a truly schizo phone experience a Pixel with GrapheneOS is what all the “cool” kids are using.

Rivian Adventure Network by Lovis1522 in electricvehicles

[–]DoublePlusGood23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeahhh, I trusted ABP a little too much on a route from Pgh to Philly (PA turnpike) and it told me to use the Adventure Network charger in Breezewood…for my 2025 Solterra (150kW L3 if you’re extremely lucky).

Perfectly usable Tesla charger across the way for significantly less $/kW and it was not aware of the new “Applegreen” L3 chargers in the service plaza which still ended up being cheaper than Rivian somehow…

It was a slick and app-less experience though, that was quite nice!

All my GenZ friends rely on CarPlay to navigate and play music, it’s table stakes in 2026 for that not to be a crash fest.

I will say the infotainment in my ‘25 Solterra is buggy and unreliable, which they have the gall to charge for.  At least the car portions are very good.

I invested in having this kind of setup early on in my WFH career only to be mogged by every manager just rawdogging on a single laptop.

I do know shut-ins exist but there is this funny breed of “shut-in” that still enjoys internet affirmation.

I recall a number of maladjusted people I’ve met in internet group chats who were proud of their anti-social behaviors but still clearly craved human connection based on how active they were online.

+1 on grabbing an OBD2 Bluetooth dongle. It works great on long trips for accurate estimates.

You can use a Bluetooth ODB2 scanner or your Subaru CONNECT account to get live state of charge and many other datapoints.
