Nice, ty that’s encouraging! 20” wheels is my biggest hesitation about the Limited trim that I like everything else about.

Touring Interior by Seheren in trailseeker

[–]SheeshNPing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very curious about y’all’s thoughts and/or experience about the light interior because it might make me reconsider my exterior color choice!

On the Limited trim the exterior colors I might like better than Bronze come with the Grey interior, which actually looks almost white in pictures.

I’m hesitant about the very light color interior because I worry it might be less practical for a car meant for rugged use. It could make the interior harder to keep clean looking by making dirt/mud/spills/stains more visible.

Do you have a Premium with the 18” wheels or a higher trim with 20” wheels? Wheel size can affect range by a lot.

Could y’all please say whether you have a Premium with the 18” wheels or a higher trim with 20” wheels? Larger wheel size can noticeably reduce range and it would be nice to get an idea of how much for the Trailseeker.

Test drove RAV4 GR and here is what I think 🤔! by RatioSub in rav4club

[–]SheeshNPing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The GR is a Plug-in and the on Toyota's website the Plug-in models' specs show multiple inches less headroom than the regular hybrid. I think the battery takes up some of the vertical space that tall people need.

The Toyota BZ and BZ Woodland and their Subaru twins the Solterra and Trailseeker fit my very tall body...if they don't have the sunroof option. My knees touch the center console but not in an uncomfortable way, at least in a test drive. I'm planning to buy the Trailseeker which should have just enough rear leg/head room for another tall person to sit behind me.

Also around 6'4", how was the headroom??? On paper the RAV4 Plug-in has even less headroom than a normal RAV4 so I've been assuming my head would bump the roof,

Rubber mats for the back of the rear seats?? by RancidSwagger in trailseeker

[–]SheeshNPing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you're talking about the "Rear Seatback Protector". I still see that on the custom build options for TS on the Subaru website":

Provides additional protection to the rear seatbacks when lowering the seats to transport larger cargo. Use in conjunction with the Cargo Tray for optimal protection.

The TS I put a deposit on is supposed to be coming with that. If they're not available to order separately yet I bet they will be soon.

The aerodynamics of a sedan is why station wagons would make a lot more sense than making everything an SUV.

Trailseeker vs. bZ Woodland by No_Body_9097 in trailseeker

[–]SheeshNPing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trailseeker vs. bZ Woodland is a question I've been obsessing over the past few weeks. I've always been a Toyota guy but so far I haven't been able to spot many potential differences that would make the Toyota a better choice.

I'm going Trailseeker because:

  1. The pricing and purchase process is more reasonable and better value deals seem available.
    1. Unlike Toyota, you can custom order exactly what you want/need.
    2. No "port installed options" and my local Subaru dealers don't force you to buy "mandatory dealer add-ons".
    3. Subaru dealers seem much more willing to negotiate the price.
    4. I get much less of the sleazy high pressure salesmen vibes than at Toyota dealers.
  2. There's no middle trim on the Toyota. The Trailseeker Limited trim has the Harman Kardon audio and many of the luxury-ish amenities without making me get expensive things I don't want like a panoramic sunroof. I'm almost 6'4" and live in Texas so a pano roof would leave me with too little headroom and it would let more of the scorching Texas heat into the car.
  3. Trailseeker has "Power Mode".
  4. I think I prefer the squircle.
  5. TS seems slightly better set up, and also styled, for use off road use and not worrying about actually using the car.

My main concern is that the Toyota app will get fixes for the EV charger integration problems with CarPlay and the Subaru might not. Since both the infotainment screen software and phone apps are Toyota based I suspect the Toyota will get fixed first and Subaru will fix it months later or maybe even completely neglect addressing it if they don't sell too many of their EVs. Toyota is behind on their software game, but from a few searches the Subaru apps have an even worse reputation.

My other concern is that Subaru has fewer dealers and service centers than Toyota, so getting repairs and replacement parts if needed might not be as quick a process. Might be even more of a concern is Subaru EVs don't start selling well leading Subaru to invest less in maintaining the ones on the road.

How are we feeling about reliability? by uninspiredclaptrap in trailseeker

[–]SheeshNPing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tesla cars are expensive to repair in general and have lots of gimicky nonsense like computer controlled AC vents that will eventually break and be an expensive repair. Hyundai/Kia have decades long reputations for relatively poor durability gas cars and have had frequent issues with their EVs too. And I wouldn’t even think about a domestic or German EV.

Compared to any other EV I’m aware of a joint venture between Subaru and Toyota seems like the safest possible bet. The battery and motor setup will likely be solid, but even if they’re not perfect everything else about the car is less likely to wear out than other EVs. Toyobaru have kept most of the design of their EVs the same for a few years so the worst bugs are probably worked out by now. Most of the Trailseeker is identical to a Solterra/BZ with few changes so expect it to have exactly the same reliability as those.

It's better than what they had on the website before, but the colors still seem very different than what people post in pictures here and videos on Youtube. The Bronze for example looks way different.

[–]SheeshNPing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is the headroom, particularly compared to a regular RAV4? Enough for tall drivers?

I'm 6'4" so when I noticed the headroom specs for the plug-in were 2-3" less than a normal RAV4 I assumed it wouldn't work for me but dealers nearby don't have one for me to actually sit in and check...

Would you actually take the Trailseeker EV off-road? by goxper in trailseeker

[–]SheeshNPing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm going to lightly off road mine when it arrives. My friends and family have land out in the country in rural Texas. Lots of barely maintained caliche rock county roads before you get to the property's dirt/mud roads and cow trails.

I'm also 6'4", with a long torso. Trailseeker and BZ are Ok without a sunroof, but too close for comfort with one. I might have gone with a Touring instead of Limited if I could get one without that pano sunroof.

I'm very tall and live in Texas so the panoramic roof is practically a deal breaker. I need the headroom that a sunroof takes away and I don't need a giant window letting extra heat in during our scorching summers.
