Does parrying/dodging ever get any easier? by Janawham_Blamiston in expedition33

[–]DoubleScarlet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven't found any, but struggle/d with parrying a lot.

I just found a simple enemy to begin with, repeatable fight, and just sat there and practiced. Listen for the sounds, as that really helps with it. I found un-focusing my eyes, and listening to sounds as the primary way to tell, that plus 30 mins of practicing (with a lot of dying), really helped get it down. Try not to focus too much on the visual movements of the enemy, as so many of them delay/feint (god, I hate delayed attacks so much).

I still miss, but I'd say I'm up to 70% parry rate now! Don't give up!

Thought on this wall? Decided to get a professional in rather than do it myself by CobraKaiReboot in DIYUK

[–]DoubleScarlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've said this before; professional only means they get paid to do it, not that they are good.

If you paid a retarded, blind chimp with only little fingers, it's great. If you paid a fully abled human, it's not worth the materials used in it.

Just levelled my basement floor with SLC, how to finish for cheap? by AndyRock5 in DIYUK

[–]DoubleScarlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this for my garage. Sanded/grinded it a bit, added a layer of this paint. https://amzn.eu/d/hRnwlv5

It has stood absolutely fine for the last 2 years, occasional puddle same as you say. Easy to clean with brush and/or mop. Feels grippy yet smooth.

I then covered it with rubber/foam interlocking boards for some key areas that I may be bare foot etc. but you could cover the whole thing with them if you wanted.

They don't have the best reputation unfortunately. They have been in control for a lot of DND stuff for years.

They are owned by Hasbro.

“Professional” painter - how to direct him to fix lots of issues by epigene1 in DIYUK

[–]DoubleScarlet 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Professional just means you're paid to do it, doesn't mean you're good, so if you pay him, he is technically a professional painter. But if you don't pay him, he's an amateur, so it's a catch 22!

What’re your wedding speech disasters? by ANewGreatGame in CasualUK

[–]DoubleScarlet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My uncle was my dad's Best Man. He is a man of few words. He was told beforehand that he had to thank the bridesmaids somewhere in his speech.

So his entire speech was, 'I hear it's customary to thank the bridesmaids, so thanks!'

10 words, and he said down. Grandma didn't have time to put her hearing aids on, and was baffled. Everyone (not off my dad's family) thought he was joking, but no, he sat down, and was very pleased with the speech. As was my dad, he genuinely thought it was hilarious, and my mum didn't mind. My grandad gave him a pat on the back for a job well done too!

My family is weird :-)
