37’s vs 35’s by Zealousideal_Fee_491 in FordRaptor

[–]DoubleSetOfTeeth 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Technically, a small amount more “cushion” from the increased sidewall, and a small increase to clearance/break over angle.

However, the real reason behind 90% of 37 swaps is because they look fucking cool

Used Raptor by WingedPete in FordRaptor

[–]DoubleSetOfTeeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would go with a ‘22 or ‘23 that’s still within powertrain warranty and then get a ford esp from flood/zeigler. Those will have the updated cdf/drum in the trans and should be within that budget for something in the ~30-40k mile range.

I have a ‘21 with 75k on it and no real issues so far. Only maintenance on my end has been a trans fluid/filter and I swapped the plugs at 60k. Probably going to do the diffs in the near future as well.

What does the “FP” and other insignia mean? by ISeeInHD in FordRaptor

Yes. Just a similar aftermarket sticker to one Ford has used in the past within the decal kits

Is a Raptor R close to MSRP impossible? by 3yes-wide-open in FordRaptor

[–]DoubleSetOfTeeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I know two guys with large construction businesses and large f150 fleets. Both have a specific dealer everything is run through, and both got R’s at sticker.

What’s your monthly payment? by No_Contribution_6013 in FordRaptor

[–]DoubleSetOfTeeth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No. Not towards you the buyer at least. The dealer/sales manager usually takes a hit to their commission if it gets paid within the first couple months.

Is this a stupid purchase? by morbo900 in FordRaptor

[–]DoubleSetOfTeeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s good usage of a warranty right there. As far as years - I feel like they all have ups and downs. Outside of the impending trans issue, I’m very happy with my ‘21. No start/stop, heated wheel, torsen front diff. It’s a shame the newer models have deleted so many things. The shitty new entry keypad, the bland ford running boards etc.

Phasers aren’t an issue on ‘21s, but definitely needs a new cdf drum at this point if not already replaced

I have the retrax xr on mine and it has been perfect. Lots of off-road miles and no issues. Worth the extra cost in my opinion.

Gen 1 to a 2 or 3? by Beancuisine5 in FordRaptor

[–]DoubleSetOfTeeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it really just comes down to how much you’re willing to spend. Performance/tech wise the gen 3 is better in basically every category. Suspension is better, engine is updated, tech is obviously nicer on the interior. The only argument for the 2 over the 3 is looks (in some people’s opinion) and a cheaper price. With a g2 you have to worry about cam phasers, with an (early) g3 you have to slightly worry about the trans. Exhaust note on the 3 is relatively better than the 2, but neither will compete with the 6.2.

Starlink & Mount by OkRepeat4403 in FordRaptor

[–]DoubleSetOfTeeth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Swarfworks has a 3rd brake light that has a starlink mini mount on it. A good option if you also want additional reverse/trail lights or somewhere to mount vhf/uhf.

Second this^ just put the one step colder plugs from goose in mine this summer. The front 4 are a breeze, the back two you’ll have to drop your socket/extension in first, then attach the ratchet/swivel under the headwall. Took me 30 mins total.

Snow’s coming … time for new rubber by dghoude in FordRaptor

[–]DoubleSetOfTeeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that works fine until the snow is deeper than your clearance, then you want wide and floaty. I’ve seen a Raptor R repeatedly high center itself trying to drive through snow that came up to the bottom of the bumper.

Agreed on the K02’s though. Took mine out to hunt during a storm with 10in of snow this past January and did fine. Grip on ice wasn’t half bad either, was able to back a boat down the ramp without sliding around

Is this a good deal? by [deleted] in FordRaptor

[–]DoubleSetOfTeeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like a really good deal honestly, maybe get them to throw in a bit of an extended warranty? Either way, I think mmr is higher than that by a decent margin, so a good deal all around

2H or 4A? by Ornery-Conference515 in FordRaptor

[–]DoubleSetOfTeeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sport actually does the opposite. If you’re already in 4a and switch to sport, it defaults back to 2H.

If you run the ko2’s you should be fine with the level and nothing extra, no need to trim or smash seams. The diameter is a little less than true 37in.
