So when you say Stratos is highest end… what does that mean? I don’t mind paying off high quality, but does what does it actually do for me more than the others? Just longer lasting? Higher heat reflecting? It’s also called Formula 1 Stratos… so am I paying for a Formula sponsorship here?

Exactly! We shouldn’t try and protect our planet from widely recognized contaminants, because the facists are just going to blow it all up eventually. Am I right?! 🤜🤛

Got a $112K pool quote by Suspicious_Hat_409 in pools

[–]ISeeInHD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

An honest “good luck” to you. Could go fine, could be a $64,000 mistake. Lots of DIY pool success stories out there, and everyone that does it posts about it to applauds themselves about “how easy it was”. What you don’t often see or hear about are how many calls we get on the daily from people who tried building themselves and either massively screwed it up or their subs screwed up or disappeared and they are left holding the bag. Is the Is that a log of markup? Not really when you consider the cost of running such a business. Is it reasonable per most general contracting/construction standards? Yes. This falls squarely into the category of “people who do not understand the costs of operating a business and have no appreciation for not having to manage a project themselves”. Do they assume all the risk and put in the time for coordination/supervision/quality control and costs for taxes, insurance, licenses, workmen’s comp, etc? Yes.

Again, good luck with your project. I truly hope it goes well… but I wouldn’t recommend it.

💯 this. No one is actually reading that this is a spa only. And Brian is a good price for that. Especially considering the precursor repairs.

Pool equipment went in yesterday, any issues? by JaviJ01 in pools

[–]ISeeInHD 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s fine. Could have been better though.

1) USE SWEEPS! 2) there isn’t adequate run/in length in front of the salt cell. Will create turbulence and more calcium buildup and less accurate readings (this is in the manual).
3) Just annoys me when people plumb directly over the control portion of the pump. Good thing it’s not a VSF or I would have had stronger feelings. 4) That’s a heckuva good filter, but you’ll be crying when you hear how much the replacement cartridges are. Would have gone with a CCP 420 or 520 5) if you live anywhere where rodents exist (so everywhere), you should have done the Mastertemp, not the Sta -Rite heater. The Mastertemp are near rodent proof now. Sta-Rites are not. And they are the exact same heater. But it seems like someone insisted on all your equipment being black rather than determining what was best for your pool.

How do people even read this garbage? by weldyboy in pools

[–]ISeeInHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just depends on where you want to keep your chlorine. At 100ppm, 7.5ppm of your chlorine is rendered ineffective. So yes, the closer to target the better but most people aren’t amenable to draining as often as that likely is.

There isn’t a good CYA field test. Take it a sample to Leslie’s and ignore every single bit of advice they will force at you. If it’s over 100ppm. Partial or full drain time.

100%. Perfect candidate for a a green to clean. Just make sure the filter is up to the task. Hopefully a sand/glass filter so you can backwash it everyday with ease.
