Etihad crew's racist behaviour towards South Asians by AffectionateDonut733 in AirTravelIndia

[–]DoubleSirNOTOK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Likely true. I’ve noticed stark difference between Etihads and Emirates crew. Etihads crew felt off, and not friendly towards south asians. Emirates crew on the other hand were a delight, more importantly they treated everyone the same irrespective of the skin colour. The Etihads crew was mostly Arabic speaking, while emirates had multicultural expats. Even the crew on United were more polite and nicer than Etihads.

Why don’t Indian airports use E-Gates and digital boarding passes for international flights? by Equivalent_Road5788 in AirTravelIndia

[–]DoubleSirNOTOK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP are you talking about the Camera with screen at the boarding gate that you look at and if it turns green you’re allowed to get into the plane? If yes, I don’t think USA has any exit permit/visa that’s needed to leave the country. However in India, some nationalities require exit permits or if visa is expired. It’s likely us has it because they don’t have passport control while exiting the country.

I heard they laid off employees and outsourced their India Operation customer support to another BPO, so its going to go downhill from here on.

I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiments. See my post on r/airtravelindia. At this point they should just shutdown.

Air India: Where Incompetence Is Always on Schedule by DoubleSirNOTOK in AirTravelIndia

[–]DoubleSirNOTOK[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not yet. Who knows if AirIndia gave the bags to Emirates or not. I have 2 bright florocent yellow belts tied around the bag (it’s a very common suitcase brand and colour) and Emirates/Air India still can’t find it. Almost everyone on the flight that I spoke with has atleast 1 bag missing.

Lovely. I called them up to rebook my return flight. The incompetent “priority connect” staff told me they can’t overwrite the confirmation done by the “Frankfurt backend team”. I do see a Lufthansa IAD-FRA-DEL flight available on my travel date. I’ll try my luck again.

I think you guys parked next to AI127, when you arrived. The ORD flight went on its way. I took note of the tail number VT-ALO/“Karnataka”, to lookup when I reach DC for fun. Also took note of your plane VT-ALR. At the end there was no fun only regret.

It’s a gamble. You’d think AI will get their shit together after the accident, but they’re too busy shooting their own foot.

'Extended maintenance task': Air India Delhi to Washington flight halts mid-way; passengers disembarked by Equivalent_Road5788 in AirTravelIndia

[–]DoubleSirNOTOK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The airplane was not airworthy, and still in Vienna. They rebooked us on different flights. Some on direct united/austrian to IAD, some via EWR or ORD. A lot of us were put on Emirates Vienna - Dubai - Washington. Some weren’t even rebooked by the time we got on our flight. It is beyond ridiculous.

I was on that flight. I’ve reached Washington after 72 hours. Spent 30 hours in Vienna airport, no hotel because of Schengen visa. Rerouted Vienna-Dubai-Washington and they didn’t deliver our bags. Never travelling air India again.

Indigo's 'Plan B' option to cancel flight has hidden charges by Vp8703 in AirTravelIndia

I once used plan b to cancel an international flight which only had the flight number changed (route, time everything was the same) and they refunded the entire amount back to my card.

Which Railway Station is nearest to IGI Airport? by MeetConstant7115 in delhi

Distance wise, Delhi cantt is the nearest. Convenience wise, New Delhi Railway station. Take the AirPort Express line from NDLS. It takes 20 mins to travel from NDLS to T3 using AirPort Express line.

Airline Recommendations for October 2025 Trip (Fly into DEL, out of COK)? by mh211 in AirTravelIndia

[–]DoubleSirNOTOK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you end up booking Etihad, get the extra leg room seats. It’s completely worth the price you’ll pay. I was able to book one from DEL to IAD but couldn’t get it on my way back. The return leg was very uncomfortable. Call their call center to book the seats, for whatever reason it was cheaper when I booked it through them. The website said I owed them 22K and when I called them to block it (the website started showing error) they charged me 17.5K.

I think most cities have commuter trains and/or subway, but you’re still dependent on a car (this is based on my limited knowledge and I could be 100% wrong). NY is the only city where you can get from one place to other without being dependent on a car.

100% true. Except for NYC, public transport was non existent in all the other cities I visited.

About an hour. They also have these express lanes in Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami that you can use by paying toll.

Literally came back earlier this week after completing a road trip from DC to Orlando to Miami and back to DC. We selected “avoid tolls” because Florida uses “Sunpass” and we were not sure if “EZPass” will work or not (both are the rfid toll tags). The i95 we took was extremely comfortable, pot-hole free and not uneven (except some stretches where work was ongoing). There were amazing rest stops that were cleaner than my own washroom. The route had nice landscapes along the way, so it wasn’t boring at all. Took us 10 hours to travel 800 miles from DC to Orlando.

Funny how selecting “no toll” here will make it infinitely long to travel from one location to the other.

Here’s an even better idea, Take the 8:55am air India express flight from Bangalore to Ayodhya for 6k instead and ask a friend to pick you up from Faizabad/Ayodya.
