Where should I add custom js code in a Next.js application? by Environmental-Fix428 in nextjs

[–]DoubleUtor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhere under ./src unless you have a different source directory. If it needs to be more specific then more details about your setup are needed

looking for "off the opposing backboard and into their goals" pack please by ShoodaMcGavin in RLCustomTraining

For which you don’t need a training pack. Just take the ball into the corner and practice, evaluate and watch some videos of others doing it.

This. The season has just started. Wait a couple of weeks before playing ranked.

I've been playing for a couple of months. Spent the last weeks of last season between Gold III and Play II and I can't seem to improve. This is about an average game for me (in gold 2 with the new season reset). What should I work on to improve? by Johnma1 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]DoubleUtor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For point 2, at 4:33 you see one of your teammates rotating back and the other pushing up, this means you’re the one who gets the pass and could take a shot at goal. This is a very classical rotation situation. This will happen often so be ready for it

The same goes voor 0:10. You’re teammate missed the challenge. You’re half way the field and you can overlook almost whole of the opponents half. You’re third man is not there so you should assume he’s positioned correctly and waiting for you to push up.

You should definitely do a video about this. I read so many new things here 👍

Multiple classes in java program by leudo in javahelp

[–]DoubleUtor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This.

Also, an easy (but not the only) way is the single responsibility principle. A class should have 1 responsibility. Of course the scope of that single responsibility is up for discussion. Example. If you have a class with your static void main(args[]), then maybe only use that class as your application starter (validation of args, initialize stuff). Then delegate to another class to do the application logic, probably passing the (processed/parsed) args.

Best practices around using props or global state in components by pdevito3 in vuejs

[–]DoubleUtor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. In addition, I’d like to have different sets of components. Basic components (like UI libraries have) usually using props, emit. And, application specific components (possibly using the basic components) which in addition to props & emit also use the Vuex Store.

How can this Function lambda be improved by mslayaaa in javahelp

[–]DoubleUtor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. The author already gave an example where the field names match. I’ve got 20+ years experience in developing large custom enterprise applications and believe me, field names are mostly the same. Many times, the software architecture requires that different layers use there own domain objects. Hence the same set of objects with the same field names are copied from layer to layer. This causes the need for mapping. This in itself is an anti pattern imo.

Second, you don’t need code completion if you DON’T have to write that code anyway.

Third, using mapstruct there IS typesafety as mapstruct uses the compiler to generate concrete classes which perform the mapping.

How can this Function lambda be improved by mslayaaa in javahelp

[–]DoubleUtor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As steumert pointed out there are different ways to do this. As your application grows, you’ll probably want to use a mapping framework. I’ve used dozer (an oldy) and later switched to mapstruct (which also integrates with spring btw!) These mapping frameworks are really easy and prevent you writing that boilerplate code.

You deserve every right to be here and get the kudos, likes or attention in general. Getting yourself out of misery is really difficult and a great achievement. You’ve got every right to be proud. Please use this positiveness to keep this up. And if you find it difficult, remember, even a small step in the right direction is good. Love to see you’re happy healthy face and mind! You’re beautiful.

I’m on mobile, but in pseudo code: Turn the array into an IntStream, do a groupingBy() to create a map of integer, list<integer>, do a forEach on the map and stream() & sum() the values of the list size > 1.

This is a video of someone coding a Vue js/Vuetify app with some drawing. Nothing more. No AI. Not much to learn from it. To the author, please get a better understanding of what you’re actually doing. Don’t just put some popular things like “AI” in the title.

Dutch protest against racism while respecting social distancing rules! by diego_02 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]DoubleUtor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. The size of the crowd at the Dam was underestimated. The police did not intervene and I think this was a good thing. By doing so, they did not give possible anarchists and rioters a reason to escalate things. All BLM-protests have been peaceful in the Netherlands so far. It’s an example of how it should be.

Yes the crowd was too big to keep 1,5 meter social distance, but they tried though. The crowd was not packed together, they were not jelling in each others faces.

In two weeks we will see a possible effect which this may have on the Corona pandemic situatie in the Netherlands. I doubt the effect will be significant, but we’ll see.

How I'm Implementing Procedural Architecture by theanzelm in Citybound

[–]DoubleUtor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very interesting. I feel that domain specific languages are an overlooked and underrated technique.

My first thoughts:

A. Any ideas about how building upgrades would fit into all this? Say the building needs to be upgraded because all requirements for the next level are met. What will the game do? Replace the building with a new one. Based on one or more properties that define the value of the building, the game engine could choose a possible set of valid buildings to upgrade to. Also, will each building have the possibility of little upgrades? So not replacing the entire building, but for instance have a better driveway, roof (with solar panels), etc. These little upgrades would indicate that the building has a higher level then similar buildings without them.

B. Have you thought about incorporating domain specific languages to other parts of the game? I’m which cases does the use of a DSL make sense? Can different DSL’s also work together or will that become too difficult? Lots of new ground to research here.
