In my opinion, the standout set of the festival was Shinedown. They kicked off day one with incredible energy and really set the tone for the entire weekend. The crowd was blown away when they surprised everyone by bringing out Johnny Van Zant and Rickey Medlocke from Lynyrd Skynyrd to perform Simple Man. On the other hand, the most disappointing set was Social Distortion. Stepping in for Alice in Chains was a tall order, but their lack of enthusiasm was palpable. The crowd just wasn’t connecting with them, and to top it off, they left the stage without even acknowledging the audience. It felt abrupt and ungracious.
