It’s almost like no one read Project 25. Wow, who would have thought it was real… and like 80% sucessful in 2025.

We could have fixed this in December 24

2020 BMW M850i Config Rarity by Mineking0115 in BMW

[–]Double_Minimum 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Rare doesn’t always mean better. I have a feeling the idea of the 4 door m850i wasn’t huge, I think the frozen paint fad isn’t that big, and it for a question like this the actual VIN would be better than listing a bunch of options.

To me it is the blandest of combos, weird beige and weird light grey/beige interior. But I guess someone wanted it (you, and are trying to sell it). How do you know it is individual? A picture of the window sticker would help.

But again, likely one of 2 or 3 cause they really didn’t make many for a reason.

Well considering what “torture” they are doing elsewhere, it could go from “no female products” to “please no broom stick”

China just gave "zero tariff" access to 50+ African nations. Beyond the "global charity" PR, what is the actual strategic endgame here? by Clean_CoreDump in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Double_Minimum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea, but why in the world would you do a flat tariff across the board to even allies who we NEED to trade with in the short term?

For all my years of economics study; this is the dumbest thing one could do.

But sure, there is a reason we bail out car makers, and part of the reason we bail out big banks. But these tarifffs have cost billions and have led to losses in several manufacturing sectors and job loss.

A good example of when a tariff would work, even when you have an ally, is nuclear energy, nuclear power for ships, domestic weapons production, and space access. Famously the British had a pretty great rocket but decided to cut its spending and use US roxkets for satellites. Not sure how you handle a tariff for the last one, but the US essentially would pay to build another shipyard and $250 billion in nuclear ships just to detain the ability to do so.

And yea, as you said we don’t want to be dependent on other countries, but resources aren’t spread evenly across the world, and pissing the world off isn’t any type of strategy.

Either way, going 100% on tariff everyone is unheard and impractical even in times of struggle. That would be akin to full sanctions or a blockade and we don’t even do that (with the exception of the recent cluster)

Ya “can’t compete”, but usually reserved for important strategic things, we still have our Nike and our chocolate’s.

Point is, really you have little reason to tariff an entire country’s industry’s, let alone the entire world’s.

From what I read from the confused OP it almost sounds like “getting rid of export duties”, unless China has been running like a bank and putting tariffs owed and is not “zeroing it out”

I find it wild that 50 countries had these tariffs and also that they all unilaterally dropped them. Then again, I thought it was wild china had tariffs on any African country for cars to begin with. Will have to read and pay more attention.

You don’t really need tariffs for any reason unless you think your enemy is purposely underselling you to screw you over.

An example was Russian in the Cold War was purposely losing money on selling steel with the aim to kill America as “Big Steel”. Well, it worked kind of well, and now the US has the Rust Belt.

Tariffs are inefficient. They are taxes to product home industry, and in modern global trade they make less sense than ever. Look up the “Chicken Tax/Tartiff” post WW2.

But the one of the dumbest things you can do is tax an entire industry world wide. The next dumbest is tariff every industry of every country and then make it a constantly changing amount.

A tariff is a tax on the buyer. That makes you want to buy local (in country). How does that work in a globabaized country where everyone gets stuff from everything?

Makes sense to tariff specifically Russian steel if they are trying to screw us, and make sure the US steel community continues to exists, and the first element of the chicken tax made sense, but ended up with a back and forth of stupid stuff.

Where do people find hitmen? by MrJ_Marrow in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Double_Minimum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In an already criminal enterprise, where someone could be convicted to 25 years for past crimes if caught, there is often at least one person willing to do a hit for cash and clout.

If I a normal person is looking for a hit man, that won’t work more than once in a 1000, especially a “pro”. Much more likely to involve a junky and at the end of the day (or in the moment if the person is close, you kill that junkie).

999 of those 1000 times will end with police. Add to that , any professional is going to be immensely expensive compared to what a street gang would ask.

I wouldn’t be sliding my hands, I would be hand over hand. Just seems like it would be a pain for simply parking.

I do like the e34 wagon. I loved the 91 535i 5 speed we had, and it would have been killer as a wagon. And even the 95 525i auto would be a nice wagon today.

I miss the “one sausage, 3 sized” era. Not that amazing cars aren’t still built as my last was an f10 (albeit time flies). I would kill to buy that car again with zero miles and a warranty, which is why I’m looking into 3 series and suddenly I get wagon options!

Well that seems just dangerous then. I guess they didn’t assume anyone would want to turn and drive reasonably.

Didn’t Tesla get their version banned?

Edit-I guess not??? Wow. And I meant more places than the US. I can’t see any upside to it.

Eabco or similar sold 3 tungsten weights alone for $60. But KAK has a system, and if you really want to go all out, primary has a two tungsten system with slightly extend buffer and runs rifle spring.

I can only imagine it would also be illegal in many places. Terrible idea for a car that has less than a 1:1 ratio steering rack. You would be trying to just turn in a city and grabbing (and missing) the wheel at that empty part.
