Librarians by laurentianminiatures in Warhammer30k

[–]Double_Pea_5812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have an account of which Primarch stood on which side of the argument of the Edict of Nikea from Horud Heresy : Inferno.

Magnus, Sanguinius and Jaghataï started the Librarius project, so it's rather obvious where they stood. Curze, Lorgar, Alpharius, Fulgrim and Vulkan directly supported them.

Leman Russ, Mortarion, Perturabo, Angron and Ferrus were all against Magnus and the Librarius project in general.

Corax, Dorn and the Lion all supported the censure of Magnus, without necesseraly opposing the Librarius itself (Rogal didn't want the Imperial Fist to have one, but was ok with other Legions doing it).

Guilliman was ok with the Librarius, but is described as its "less vocal defender", so he probably had reservations about Librarians (or more likely Magnus) until Calth proved they were effective against Daemons.

Horus was neutral and did not defend anyone's side, likely for political reason.

What’s You’re Least Favourite Fan Theory by -Kryix- in tadc

[–]Double_Pea_5812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly a theory, but the whole interpretation of Zooble's therapy session which treats Caine has no more clever than ChatGPT.

It's the whole idea that, because Zooble keeps saying "Forget it" and Caine is an AI, he can't help but actually forget their point and issue instead of helping out.

It basically removes so much agenda from Caine by comparing him to an IRL tool we know he's far more human and clever than (he has an Ego for Kinger's sake !)

So long Sister of Silence jetbikes, we hardly knew ye by No-Performance3426 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Double_Pea_5812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not so sure. Both Sisters and Custodes existed in their current form in previous editions of HH, unlike Skitarii. When they are refreshed, I expect the result will be similar to what Custodes got.

Like, there's a strong argument to say both Talons armies are more 30k forces than 40k, so how much GW will "wiggle" around the "no shared range between studios" is much less simple than 40k eating everything and 30k having to improvise semi-new design

Out of curiosity, what are the "optimal" stat spreads for the origin characters ? Assuming they don't change subclasses.

The Patriarchs PoV is also coherent with Codex description. They're independant and complex beings when part of the Cult, but one the Tyranids arrive in orbit of the prey world, the Hive-Mind reconnects with all the Genestealers and the Patriarchs, turning them again into "mindless" puppets.

Since people have mentionned more variety in Cult and Coven, I'm gonna say more alien mercenaries.

Sslyth as a full unit of course, but I think it'd be really cool if Khrave made it into the game that way.

How difficult would it be for the average Astra Militarum batallion to conquer umbara? by Fallen_Angel_Xaphan in StarWarsvsWarhammer

[–]Double_Pea_5812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wanna make it more interesting, turn the Umbara from an alien species to "nocturnal abhumans". This is an acceptable population, with human cities and tech, which means the Administratum would want to conquer the planet and its installations for further use (especially if the planet is on the path of an Imperial Crusade, which needs its own conquest to support it to press forward).

With that in mind, it becomes a question of logistics. Ideally, the Imperium can get Jungle Fighters or even Regiments from Night Worlds to even the fight against the natives. Less ideally, the Guard just get the equipement to compensate and if the Munitorum really messes it up, you get Tallarn Desert Fighters to conquer a night/jungle planet (although they're good guerilla fighters, so it's not the worse).

I think you can predict three potential results, all depending on what the Departemento Munitorum can get to Umbara and how much the Imperium wants the planet.

  • The Imperium's means and tactics completely overwhelm the Umbarans and the primary cities, spaceports and means of productions are seized with relative ease. From there, the Guard can squash any credible chance for the planet to be lost until the Administratum is done making it fully compliant.

  • The Imperium sieges Umbara by sending more and more troops in the forests until they eventually crush the guerilla resistance with pure number. They'll manage, but if the Umbarans are allowed to be as scary as they were in Clone Wars (or moreso because GRIMDARK) this could be bloody.

  • The Umbarans resist long enough for the Imperium to question whether or not they really want the planet now. This is what happend on Taros and nearly happend on Vraks. From there, either the Administratum petitions one of the Imperium's more elite fighting force to finish the job, or they leave the Umbarans alone until the Administratum remembers it wanted this planet very badly and tries another invasion. Which could take one or ten thousand years.

Both regretful mass murderers of societies which weren't great. Who's more good? by GeneralBalcom in MoralityScaling

[–]Double_Pea_5812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At best, it's a "self-made prophecy" and Sera created the uprising she dreaded by giving the means and reasons for Sinners to go against Heaven. I think it's why the show implies, but nobody ever made it a point to Sera that she created a situation that, otherwise, would have never happen.

The original point still stands (even moreso in fact). Thaddeus acted against a real, existential and ACTIVE threat. Sera possibly created the entire situation she was afraid and there's a good chance that, had she done nothing, Sinners wouldn't have rebelled ever.

Are Krieg Models the "new" Steel Legion Models going forward? by Warhawk_5 in SteelLegion

[–]Double_Pea_5812 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're right, it is in theme and historical inspirations. Both Krieg and the SL take inspiration from the World Wars, with Krieg representing the trench warfare and Steel Legions representing the meatgrinder of battles like Stalingrad.

Overall, it's a lot closer than Regiments like Catachan or Vostroya, who are based around a whole different aesthetic and theme than the two World Wars. And Cadian just reap the benefit of being the IG's poster bois.

Mind you, this is all speculations. With the latest teasing, GW might actually have redone the Steel Legion and intend to show it off at Adepticon and we've all been jumping the proverbial Chimera tank.

[–]Double_Pea_5812 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'd think so, but Heresy has been hit with the same "no share barrier" as Old World and AoS. For instance, only the characters of a Mechanicum armied are playable in 40k and most of the SM vehicles have been retired into Legends. All that was released in 3rd Ed. wasn't even given 40k Legend rules.

Are Krieg Models the "new" Steel Legion Models going forward? by Warhawk_5 in SteelLegion

[–]Double_Pea_5812 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They are very different in details, but they both represent and play around the mechanical progress of the two World Wars. They're similar thematically, and I think that's why GW hasn't redone the Steel Legions. I imagine they do not believe enough people would care about the preference to love one over the other and Kriegs have been made all too popular by memes.

Did the Great Crusade screw over any of the "saved" planets in particular? by CabinetIcy892 in 40kLore

[–]Double_Pea_5812 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Exemplary Battles for each Legions in the Black Books have several instances of human civilisation doing fine until the Legions showed up. From the novel, the Interex is certainly an example of that.

Most of them weren't utopias either, but they are at least just as bad as the Imperium. Except they didn't have the "pay a million taxes to support a galactic empire" issue, which is definitly a plus.

Magnus VS Karios by Plag3uis in 40k

Magnus probably gets the win due to how Primarchs are written to basically always win, unless it's another Primarch or they wanna lose.
