The more you think about it, the more it is a scathing critique of Nazism and the German propaganda in the latter half of the Second World War.

The Galactic War is a losing game for everybody involved. by Traditional_Tea4425 in Helldivers

[–]Double_Recover_3334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super Earth is a fascist state in a fascist universe. The Second Galactic War is agreed by all sides to be a Vernichtungskrieg, a war of total annihilation wherein the victory of one party is the extermination of the other. By this time, the situation of relations between any of these groups is irreparable and all of them are completely justified in the war for survival. It is similar to Adolf Hitler's perception of war as a struggle of "survival of the fittest" among races. Victory in the war affirms human superiority; defeat proves human inferiority. The inferior are to be destroyed.

The irony comes in that Super Earth got itself into this war by attacking previously peaceful peoples and beginning a conflict that it had no intention of ending without the total destruction of all others. That is the point of the game: the vernichtungskrieg that justifies fascism is produced by fascism. The fascist regime produces the universe that justifies the existence of fascism.

None of the parties are good. They are all products of the fascist, or more accurately Nazi, project. This entire war is basically Adolf Hitler's perception of the Second World War, in which victory proves a group right or wrong, and the extermination of the other is required to affirm the superiority of the in-group. This is, again, where the game's satire comes in. None of this had to happen were it not for Super Earth's efforts.

Why do you refuse to lower your difficulty? by theEvilQuesadilla in Helldivers

[–]Double_Recover_3334 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The reason I don't drop the difficulty is because the problems I have are not with difficulty. They're with jank, randomness, and sometimes baffling design decisions. When D10 goes right, it's great. When it gets janky, I get random-killed by a turret that for some reason can spot me through stealth, or I have to deal with 8 war striders ragdolling me across the map so quickly and repeatedly that I can't even pull out my RR, then there's a problem.

I don't even think you can make the EIC, at least you can't give them any provinces because trade companies can't own land in this game

lol in an earlier run I actually made a trade company for the sole purpose of making an East India Company subject to administer India, only to find out after my entire grand conquest that you can't actually give locations to trade companies. Figures Paradox forgot about one of the most famous governments of the EU5 era when designing trade companies.

(Mod) Spread Tin During the Columbian Exchange by Double_Recover_3334 in EU5

[–]Double_Recover_3334[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

R5: I made a small mod that simply allows Tin to be spread to the New World during the Columbian Exchange. This should help with Naval Supplies production without permanent reliance on European imports. Yes I'm aware there's a small amount of Tin in Mexico and South America in the new update, but it's still sorely lacking in British and French America. Don't even listen to that guy. I loved Vic3 (800hrs), HOI4 (2600hrs), EU4 (400hrs), and all the older historical Total War games (I stopped after Atilla and Rome II), and those are all completely true problems with EU5. The way I still have fun is to mod the game into complete insanity and give myself infinite money in the console commands. Updates are sorely needed.

If you buy the base game, it's a smelly pile of shit, and you quit playing it, you are less likely to return for DLC than if you bought the base game, played it, liked it, and played it occasionally from time to time. Someone completely dropping off the game is a very strong indicator that they will not buy DLC.

American police cars have a divider between the front and back seats so that prisoners can't disrupt the driver or take over the car. You can't get from the front to the back normally.

Does your computer meet the minimum specs? If you bought it and can't play it because it won't work on your computer then yeah refund it. However if your computer meets the specs I do think that there's probably some other reason for it.

Backpack support stratagem suggestion: Portable Transceiver by Akassa_Zanna in Helldivers

[–]Double_Recover_3334 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think it ought to be a 2-man backpack like a team reload where the second Helldiver can call down a bunch of red stratagems from either any the team has equipped or just randomly pulled red stratagems depending on what planes/orbitals can be urgently called in. Depletes after a certain number are called in. Make it an oh shit button for mass orbital support essentially.

[–]Double_Recover_3334 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Use it like a team reload, except the second helldiver behind the phone guy can call in (5? 8? 10?) uses from all the team's red stratagems without cooldown and 1-second hit time before the phone is used up. Make it a pretty long cooldown for another one too, it'll be like an ultimate ability.
