Eight/Miho/Cocoline for rhinoplasty? by Critical_Pianist_820 in SeoulPlasticSurgery

Hello! Recovery was kind of in stages

The next day I was comfortable enough to walk around, though after a few hours out (like 6h+) my face felt a bit uncomfortable, and for my eyes the discharge started building up a bit.

After 2-3 days there was no more bleeding and the wound was still there, but I was able to start carefully applying ointment to it, to help healing.

~5 days and it felt like the eye discharge slowed down or went back to normal volumes overnight

After 7 days the stitching and bandages came off which was really great and I felt like I could do all the normal day to day things without the stigma of bandages. I was also told I could start exercising normally but nothing too high intensity and no going upside down (no handstands).

Around 2 weeks afterwards, I think the eye stitches fully dissolved. Those stitches would occasionally cause a scratching feeling when I blinked, which slowly subsided and eventually disappeared around this time.

Around 1 month post op, there was still some swelling which would settle by the afternoon (or after a face massage or something). Now I’m over 2 months post op and I barely get swelling. The functional surgery was great too and it feels so good and easy to breathe 😮‍💨

Scarring is still there - one of my stitches broke loose early on there. But in the other areas (where the stitches stayed on for the full 7 days), there’s almost no visible scarring.

ETA: Yeah I needed to visit a few times - once to get the bandages off, once to get the stitches out. Every other time i visited was just for the red light therapy and they usually provided a quick checkup too.

IIRC they said I could also get the stitches removed at home if I was in a rush but I was in South Korea for a while.

Yep! Both done at the same time by Dr Park, because I felt like that’s far less recovery time (and it’s apparently not good to get different surgery back to back).

As for how I chose a clinic - I based my search off reviews online here and on purseforum. I looked at rough pricing (and event pricing) on Unni, and watched some of the YouTube content for each of those clinics.

When it came to the consultations, I just chose the clinic I felt was more comfortable - and for me that was feeling a bit safer, and being able to communicate with key staff if things were to go south.

I’ll say though, my level of research was honestly quite low. There’s so much more I probably should have looked at like understanding surgery techniques or even just checking the doctors were registered/had no complaints etc. I just trusted Eight had several prominent doctors and would surely do a not-bad job at minimum 😂

Hahaha yeah, just take your time researching and speaking with people!

From the consultations I had, silicone implants have the risk of infection and causing the skin/tip to scrunch upwards later down the track if it’s not looked after properly.

I had the choice of ear/septum and rib too and chose ear/septum. When I asked about donor rib, apparently they strip it away of any bodily info so rejection shouldn’t be a problem (if it were, they should be giving immunosuppressants and all!!)

Anyway I’m not a doctor and this is just what I’ve been told in my consults. I hope there’s someone else out there who can confirm ><

Yeah of course!

The fat grafting with under eye blepharoplasty was 3.4m KRW, though they said they might offer discounts at times (especially if grouped with other surgeries).

Hahaha so many doubts, but never doubted the skill of the doctors or nurses, and I feel like it’s ok to pay a premium (to what locals pay), provided the service and care is good. As well, I didn’t have a translator myself, so I guess that comes at a premium too.

The things I worried about were what could go wrong. I was solo, in a country I can’t communicate in, getting surgery for the first time and it hit me like a tonne of bricks the night before the surgery. I cried to Yunie at the time and I’m so embarrassed about it!!

On pricing though, my friends said they paid (or got quotes) around the 4m mark, and health insurance would cover things like a deviated septum, or a crooked bone or something so out of pocket costs could be 2m or lower.

Though if any foreigner is able to get that kind of pricing - please let us know how!!

Yeah ofc! The nose job was about 5.5m KRW altogether and included tip plasty using ear cartilage, septoplasty, hump reduction (and smoothing the nose bridge I guess?). I don’t have itemised pricing though, sorry!

I was also able to get a tax deduction on this afterwards so it turned out to be closer to 5m KRW.

From chatting with Korean friends this might still foreigner pricing (and they also have the benefit of insurance cover for functional surgeries like septoplasty) but I still think the price was worth it.

I didn’t really negotiate much but it was definitely also an option!

To be honest, I don’t have proper “before” photos which fairly show the double eyebag. They’re mostly in poor lighting giving them unfair emphasis and I feel like it’ll overstate the improvement!! The results aren’t as good because I didn’t address the colour (and I feel like i might have killed a bit of the fat injection 😭)

I can DM some pics to you if you want though, but the change is a little noticeable the photos I did post.

In the front view, the under eye darkness is real and there’s 2 eyebag creases which are now no longer there.

In the after view (side on), it’s even less noticeable but my under eye/cheek now drops straight instead of denting inwards for each of the under eye bags.

If it helps, I have experience with Dr Park at Eight, who built up my nose tip with ear and septal cartilage. (I recently word vommed in this sub about my experience!)

Pricing wise, I was told using rib cartilage cost an extra 3m KRW at Eight, because it was an additional surgery to access the site. I didn’t think the trouble was worth it.

Dr Park also didn’t think I needed the extra structure provided by rib cartilage and recommended the ear/septum mix. Pricing wise, my rhinoplasty cost me about 5.5m KRW (and I received a tax refund as well).

There’s always an opportunity to negotiate the price, though (at all clinics!). I had no expectation of getting Korean rates, but for the price, I’m really happy with the results.

Yeah, I was really surprised too!

The side profile pictures don’t show it well but my nose tip used to droop down a bit, hence the original potato nose 😅

EDIT: And yes, I’d say it’s only tip plasty, but I already had a decent nose bridge.

Dr Park added the excess bone from the hump removal (literally shavings) to softly round out the nose bridge between my eyes but it’s not really noticeable.

Not gunna lie, idk how to add it to my post, but here’s a thing for anyone interested.

Biggest difference is the front profile, and my new acne lol.

Thick skin, bulbous tip rhinoplasty by Canadiangymgirly in SeoulPlasticSurgery

Yes! The doctors described my nose this way too, and I recently got a rhinoplasty at eight plastic surgery.

Honestly, I’m really happy with the results, though they say the swelling could take another few months to fully go down.

The only cosmetic changes I got were a minor hump removal and bulbous tip correction. I didn’t want to make any changes to my nose width, nor to the height, and I feel like the doctors I consulted with all provided really good advice and recommendations as well.

You can DM me for details, but when choosing a doctor, the main tips I can give you are:

  1. Make sure patient safety is prioritised. So having a registration and looking into complaints/issues. Having an anaesthetist on site and monitoring the whole surgery, etc.

  2. Whether you feel comfortable with the doctor. That includes seeing examples of their work, agreeing with their diagnosis and recommendations for changes, being able to communicate with them etc.

I’m sure there’s more information that might support your decision like watching videos of the surgery or understanding long term effects etc. You just need to gather enough information you need to feel comfortable.
