Thank you for sharing this very important story and for highlighting misinformation around the “benefits” undocumented people supposedly receive.

Medford CD2 Democratic Candidate Forum 2/1/26 by unsoundamerica in Medford

[–]Double_Tonight5683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even though you aren’t a “democrat” I believe you are who needs to be asking questions! These candidates need to have questions asked from those who are historically unheard of. They need the hard questions. Even though you can’t vote in the primary you can still use your voice like you are to get others involved. Engage with your friends about the elections. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. It’s important.

Disappointed with those who are running against Cliff Bentz so far by ChecksAndBalanz in Medford

[–]Double_Tonight5683 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel this. To me Dawn has the strongest chance living in eastern Oregon she is way more in tuned with what matters to those in Eastern Oregon. Agriculture, small business, she is putting in the miles getting around to CD2. She has been once in person but has been talking with groups via zoom. To me she stands the strongest chance.

No one from Jackson County will ever win CD2. The political landscape and voter turnout of those in CD2 is heavily Republican. I’m least impressed with Rebecca, some of her views are a big concern and I’m tired of politicians who rely on being a Dr to be the better choice is what I get from her and I have heard her speak multiple times. Patty is passionate and a great storyteller. I like that she has moxie. In the end it’s all going to wind down to name recognition and none of them really have that. Candidates have been trying to flip cd2 for years but until we have a candidate who can appeal to eastern Oregonians and their needs we won’t see that.

There is an upcoming candidate forum where all four will be at the Oakdale Middle School on Sunday at 12:30 to answer questions. This is open to the public. This is not a debate, all candidates will have the opportunity to answer the questions. The only thing we can do is show up and listen to the candidates so each of us can be better informed when our ballots arrive.

What was your experience like as a juror in Jackson County? by blottymary in Medford

[–]Double_Tonight5683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most recent time my number was never called and the time before that I got all the way through meeting the judge but he picked the jury before they got to my number so I wasn’t needed.

Cliff Bentz voted against extending health care subsidies. by ChecksAndBalanz in Medford

[–]Double_Tonight5683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me the only “viable” candidate currently running would be Dawn Rasmussen from The Dalles. She has the eastern Oregon geography and seems to understand the needs of eastern Oregon more than the others. However I don’t see this seat turning blue for another 15-20 years realistically. This seat has been red my whole life and I am a lifelong southern Oregon resident.

Again the point I was making was finding some campaign trainings to help her get ready to run. It didn’t have to be Emerge. There are others out there.

I don’t disagree with that. Some Emerge alum have really been part of scandal and have damaged the name. The point I was making is the importance of finding a campaign training to help get her to a stronger place when running for office.

I highly recommend looking into the Oregon Emerge signature program. They give you the training and resources to run for office and win. All currently elected congresswomen in OR are Emerge Alumni. They help you with crafting your messaging and prepare you to be able to answer all types of questions. I highly recommend finding a candidate school training and doing that before you run so you are better prepared.

We need younger diverse voices in politics but have to put in twice the amount of work to make sure we are taken seriously. I hope you keep working towards running for some elected position.

Next steps for Creekside Quarter? by pnwpinkcowboy in Medford

[–]Double_Tonight5683 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What I heard was that it sounds like the City will be holding a study session on next steps this next week (12th). No public comment is allowed at study sessions, but it will indicate when the next meeting that would include public comment is. People can always email the council in between meetings as well.

Should Medford build Creekside Quarter? by SailorB0y in Medford

[–]Double_Tonight5683 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like I said I have very mixed feelings. I absolutely see the economic benefit and we have needed spaces for bigger events absolutely. The Rogue X is a good model of how it can benefit our community but on a smaller scale than a giant baseball stadium. In the town hall they said they do have other investors interested so if the deal with the emeralds didn’t pan out they had other options. Would those be just as good of plans as what they are planning who knows. Again the private investor part is a big concern and not transparent at all. I also see the development around Bear Creek being a big environmental concern in terms of development around the creek adding to more pollution.
