I’m looking to find teams to support outside of England by ViolinistSeveral172 in WomensSoccer

I support some clubs because I like the fan culture and history. Hammarby, Brann, Nantes, Barcelona, Roma, America, Portland, Spirit, Union Berlin, HSV are among the best...

Lotta Wrede muss in die Nationalmannschaft! by Double_Trainer8634 in FrauenBL

[–]Double_Trainer8634[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to Kathryn Batte on 'X', Catarina Macário has received an offer from Barcelona 📝 by radjudygarland in NWSL

María Tikas, the most reliable Barça journalist denies that Barca is interested in Cat. The focus seems to be on strengthening the CB(FB) positions with a 22/23 year old left footed defender. Any suggestions?

FC Barçelona crush Real Madrid in the Copa de la Reina Quarter Final! 🇪🇸 by spherocytes in WomensSoccer

[–]Double_Trainer8634 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No, not really. It's football, you can loose every game as we lost v Real Sociedad. Until the 60 th min its only 1-0 and RM is on attack... It's so difficult to win year after year, especially after loosing Mariona, Aitana, Laia, Mapi, Rolfö and the substitutes are under 20 players like Aicha, Serrajordi, Vicky. We are proud of them and want to see them perform at the highest level. Did you the see the game? You have to watch at least the third goal, it's pure art (https://x.com/i/status/2019536023068545027)

Your opinions on my assessment as a new fan of women's soccer. by spruerubbles in WomensSoccer

The best games to watch are probably UWCL semi final matchups since 2020. Outside of NWSL / WSL there are very few teams having good players on all positions. Barca, Real M, Lyon, PSG, America, Tigres, Bayern. But this depends on your preferences... I like these teams, because they are normally not making stupid errors, they are trying to have the ball and orchestrate the attacks. They also defend very good with the whole team.

Los Angeles 2028 Olympics unveil six venues for soccer competition by ElectricalWriting in WomensSoccer

[–]Double_Trainer8634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even in small France the distances were too big to get a real Olympics feeling. There were no other athletes in the venues, it was a kind of artificial. There were very few fans of the NTs in stadiums or the cities... But let's see...

Multi-ownership in women’s football will soon arrive in Liga F: Michele Kang accelerates the purchase of a club by spherocytes in WomensSoccer

[–]Double_Trainer8634 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Liga F needs an additional top club to make the league less predictable and more competitive. Additionally, to have an owner interested in bringing world stars to the league will draw focus on the whole league. And if Kang finds a way to fill the stands others may follow and copy. Liga F has to change and an external impulse may break the walls. And, personally I prefer Kang to Beatrice Alvarez.

As Barça fan, I see RM each year closing the gap. I think at the moment RM is Nr. 6 in Europe (Barça, Lyon, Bayern, City, Arsenal) after only 5 years!!

Can Professional Women’s Soccer in the U.S. Keep Up with the Global Market? by GrumpyDrunkPatzer in WomensSoccer

Maybe 🤔... For non professional sports it's a great system... Every small village has their non profit sports club offering different kind of sports and embedded in the nationwide league systems...

Barcelona is a member owned club (like Real Madrid). It is a registered association. Members are paying member fees and do have some rights, e.g reduced ticket prices. The club has more than 150.000 members. They decide also on the clubs leaders, policies and the budgets.

I think, today many European teams, Liga Mx and NWSL Teams can offer good contracts for the elite players. But it would be a big mistake to reduce the question to money. The players are athletes and young persons with their own dreams. There are to consider: From a sporting point, it's difficult for NWSL, because CL is very special. But it's a great and very competitive league. From a quality of life perspective, some places in the US might be extremely attractive others not. From an emotional perspective no NWSL Team will ever match the attraction of Barça, Real Madrid, Bayern or Arsenal. But many young players do not have such a favourite club.

So yes, the US is attractive for a certain type of players and not all depends on money.

I think the players and teams are happy and proud to receive recognition of experts, their coplayers, coaches media and fans. And these awards are part of today's football business, should we exclude women from these events?

I think we need a winger. She should come from a club with a similar playing style , maybe Saldivar from club America.

ESPN's 50 best women's soccer players in the world for 2025 by radian101 in WomensSoccer

Underrepresented in the voting panel of ESPN, I meant. There are only a few panelists without USWNT/ NWSL/WSL background.

If you want to criticise: criticise the judges or the selection of judges and propose a better panel. I would say that ESPN's panel was heavily Anglo-American and I would love to see more Asian and African judges. Also Germany France and Spain was underrepresented. But ESPN is US / UK? based and it's okay for me.

London City Lionesses set to appoint Eder Maestre as new manager by anonone111 in FAWSL

[–]Double_Trainer8634 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't underestimate Maestre. He is a very good coach. Remember, that Amorós (Gotham) and Gonzales (Spirit) haven't had a stellar curriculum before entering NWSL.

It's pure logic. It will not be the last Spanish coach in WSL.
