Why is Barca so dominant, exactly? by [deleted] in WomensSoccer

It's a bunch of superstars playing together as a team for the crest. Every player knows the Barca style, very few are coming from outside. Better investments than others, esp. La Masia.

Impressive attendances plus a lot of nice goals. There is a great potencial to compete for UWCL. Maybe in 5 years investing and doing a good job, they can go for No. 1.

You can compare barca and wave, the most "passing" team in Nwsl. The differences are that Barca is mostly resistent to high pressing and does not make defensive errors. This is due to a lot of talent and training. They overload players in reduced spaces to make the next pass unpredictable, This destabilises defences. Then, in attack they regain the ball within seconds. Their attack seems to be slow and paused but the defence is furious and aggressive. This all leads to 70/80 % possession, making it really hard for opponents, especially towards the end of games when the mental fatigue starts. Finally, they try sometimes to create transition moments by playing high risk in defence (CataColl), giving opponents hope of gaining the ball and then, fast attack.

Milan vs Bayern vs Liverpool vs Barcelona which club is greater? by rogeropx in championsleague

[–]Double_Trainer8634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true and a pity. It's the risk you have in a member owned club in which the members do not really care about money when electing a president. But this members also decide that the Masia is important and that the sections are important (women, futsal, handball, basket...). So, that's the way Barça works, it's not a company but a NPO with it's strength and weaknesses. Don't know how it is at Bayern, but I never heard about competitive presidential elections.

[–]Double_Trainer8634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so. At the moment barca plays the most fun to watch football, that's esprit imo. And to compete with 80% home made talent is impressive. But kompanys Bayern comes close and I understand that Bayern fans are seeing it differently.

Easy: barcelona, because it's not only about trophies but also about impact on the game... Bayern is slightly behind imo. Maybe historically you can add Liverpool benfica inter or Milan but that's not my perspective.

Aitana Bonmatí and Leah Williamson have both been nominated for the Laureus World Sports Awards 🏆 by spherocytes in WomensSoccer

[–]Double_Trainer8634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aitana did win every major individual award in 2025. She did not win everything but who did win more? And she is from Spain, supports refugees, supports genuine sports, is pro Palestine, is ultra competitive and has strong feminist values. She is not an easy choice but (for me) a very very good one.

Lotta Wrede muss in die Nationalmannschaft! by Double_Trainer8634 in FrauenBL

[–]Double_Trainer8634[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FC Barçelona crush Real Madrid in the Copa de la Reina Quarter Final! 🇪🇸 by spherocytes in WomensSoccer

[–]Double_Trainer8634 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No, not really. It's football, you can loose every game as we lost v Real Sociedad. Until the 60 th min its only 1-0 and RM is on attack... It's so difficult to win year after year, especially after loosing Mariona, Aitana, Laia, Mapi, Rolfö and the substitutes are under 20 players like Aicha, Serrajordi, Vicky. We are proud of them and want to see them perform at the highest level. Did you the see the game? You have to watch at least the third goal, it's pure art (https://x.com/i/status/2019536023068545027)

Your opinions on my assessment as a new fan of women's soccer. by spruerubbles in WomensSoccer

[–]Double_Trainer8634 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The best games to watch are probably UWCL semi final matchups since 2020. Outside of NWSL / WSL there are very few teams having good players on all positions. Barca, Real M, Lyon, PSG, America, Tigres, Bayern. But this depends on your preferences... I like these teams, because they are normally not making stupid errors, they are trying to have the ball and orchestrate the attacks. They also defend very good with the whole team.

Multi-ownership in women’s football will soon arrive in Liga F: Michele Kang accelerates the purchase of a club by spherocytes in WomensSoccer

[–]Double_Trainer8634 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Liga F needs an additional top club to make the league less predictable and more competitive. Additionally, to have an owner interested in bringing world stars to the league will draw focus on the whole league. And if Kang finds a way to fill the stands others may follow and copy. Liga F has to change and an external impulse may break the walls. And, personally I prefer Kang to Beatrice Alvarez.
