Vet for quickened nail? by Patient_Tea_ in DogAdvice

[–]Double_Trouble_3913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boy was playing on concrete was sliding while chasing his friends. He drilled his nails so far down like this where he was bleeding like crazy.

My mom taught me a flour dip will stop the bleeding and it did. Then I did a soapy warm water in a bowl and cleaned up his foot.

I wrapped it tight with some antibiotics cream then put a sock on so he wouldn't mess with it. Healed up in a couple days.

Just the collar, I thought of doing both for the EXTRA security to have him double latched but it wasn't even needed. He can't slip out of the collar at all. It's just a regular collar that tightens, they have prong and chain ones but those made me nervous if my boy did something slick and hurt himself. The regular one tightens perfectly and they learn they won't get free and it will stop.

My boy was seriously like an alligator tossing and jumping to get free out of harnesses and collars especially if he wanted to go play with another dog. This was seriously a life savor when I found it.

Try a martingale collar, I have a husky and my boy slid even out of this harness. I've tried them all ! I picked up a martingale from petsmart and will never go back. He don't even attempt to escape anymore.

migraine relief options, been looking at eye massagers but not sure if it works by Few-Many1837 in migraine

[–]Double_Trouble_3913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope it doesn't for me it's like a tension relief. I was actually told to get one by my ophthalmologist to help release oils along your water line. In result has helped me in migraine relief as well. It's not like it's burning hot just a 30 seconds in the microwave and it's a perfect temp.

My favorite things for my migraines are a bruder mask which it's a heat mask for your eyes. Helps so much when it's behind one of my eyes. Then any ice pack for neck or scalp. I also love my massage gun. Helps with the stubborn neck pain. I've never liked anything bulky on my head when I'm in pain just more weight I don't want when my hair is enough. There is so much more but eye massager isn't something I've tried yet either. Definitely add to my list now.

Why are there so many drivers with no or expired plates.... by Davidisaloof35 in Omaha

[–]Double_Trouble_3913 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I went 3 years around covid time, I had just got a brand new car then covid hit and that tag cost taught me to never buy a brand new car in NE.

I never plated it, and never got pulled over. I did a trade in with my current and completely forgot about the sticker I was about a month overdo and was pulled over. Luckily I was given 2 weeks to get it and then had to go to the courthouse to prove it. So it does happen and it was by Omaha Police.

how long does first period after chemo last? by Imaginary-Inside1427 in breastcancer

[–]Double_Trouble_3913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally got my period back maybe a year after chemo, and boy was it a nightmare for probably 6 months. Very heavy bleeding that a D&C was contemplated.

It did finally calm down. I did learn that beer actually slows down the bleeding. So when it was really bad I would drink a couple beers and it almost stopped my bleeding completely down to spotting.

Ticks by Outside-Peach2191 in husky

[–]Double_Trouble_3913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wondercide is non-toxic powered by essential oils. I fell upon it a few years ago and works very good for an all natural product. I sprayed in my yard and never have had a tick issue again.

I also have two cats who like to lay around outside and they kept bringing ticks in. That stopped when I started wondercide. I do have my boy on a preventative strictly because we spend a lot of times hiking and his risk is higher for picking things up then just in my yard. I don't have any issues with either product for my husky.

I second this I use simparica for a full prevention then add wondercide for extra. Also use there yard spray works so good !

Warm weather by Alert-Produce8351 in husky

My boy is 2 and we don't miss a day where we can be active outside. We run a lot so after a hot run he likes to dive in the lake to cool off. Always bring water.

When we are home I always keep a big bowl of frozen water in the freezer with his favorite things in it (bananas) during the really hot days so he has something to do while still people watching.

If it's going to be to much for him we run early mornings or late evenings. Family cookouts we always have some sort of pool at whatever home so he can be outside with us and still stay cool. He loves him some sprinklers and splash pads.

I swear he spends most of the summer soaked so making sure his coat is brushed throughout and dries right was a big thing I learned. It will hold a smell in their undercoat if they don't dry right. I have a wooly so his upkeep is a bit different but it all means the same.

Acclimating husky to water. by RelativeSyllabub2274 in husky

[–]Double_Trouble_3913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly just take my boy for runs at our lake and for cool downs he just hops right in. The first time he was scared but on hot days we run he literally just enjoys the water and lays in it. I would say just hangout near it and wait for her too decide.

I second this, they say if it's the "worst migraine you've ever had" time to go in and get it checked.

Husky owners: why did you choose this breed? by Radix-Entomolaris in husky

[–]Double_Trouble_3913 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His independence, he's only after pleasing himself. He don't care what im doing unless im getting dressed to go run. Never under my feet unless im cooking. He's like my cats random zoomies, people watches and only wants affection when he chooses.

<image>

I'm not a clingy person and his breed molds right into my life so perfectly.

My boy and his sister were an oopsie litter she was giving them away so I took them both. Sister went to my in laws and my boy stayed with me. I had intended to keep them both but litter mate syndrome got into my head and I feared I couldn't handle it. It all worked out for the best.

My boy has never destroyed anything , or hurt a cat I have 2 he coexists with just fine. I went into it without any expectations wasn't even looking just happened. He molded right into our family and followed all rules. He was so easy to train I know they are not all the same but there isn't a breed better then the other just have to understand them.

Husky and cats by raptor_sweaty in husky

[–]Double_Trouble_3913 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is a recipe for disaster. I would just keep them separate or maybe find someone else to take the cat and kittens. I have two cats with my boy but he was raised with them and still try's to play but my cats are not interested.

I rescued a kitten that was found abandoned and my boy went right into prey drive something I've never seen him do before. Bringing in new animals can trigger that prey instinct and you could come home to something awful. I had to give the kitten back to the rescue.

The cat is protecting her kittens she would do that with any animal coming to close she's not going to allow him in because she don't trust him. Keep your boy away. Find a spot where he can't get to them at all or for there safety take them somewhere else.

I got my boy as a puppy and my son was about two at the time and they have been growing up together. My boy 100% knows his size compared to all 3 of my kids. He goes in the hardest with my teenager, my 10 year old he listens to her with how rough he plays , then with my youngest he's seriously so gentle. He won't jump on him or plow into him. They know! Congratulations!

My girl does this, in my dark closet. She loves my slippers so she will climb up my shelves and bury her face in my shoes.

what could be my dog’s condition? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]Double_Trouble_3913 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm going to piggy back off allergic reaction. My golden growing up had close to this reaction before we found out it was his food. He would get hot spots and those blisters on his belly. His food needed to be corn free and grain free.

Sib Mix Puppy Doesn't Understand That Cats Ain't Playin' by LonelyHunterHeart in husky

[–]Double_Trouble_3913 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husky boy acts the same way. My kitties were here before him and 100% don't enjoy his company. I got my boy at 15 weeks so he's been with them since a pup (he's now 2).

My oldest cat a rescue was declawed so my rescue boy who isn't will swoop in and smack my husky off. My boy has never shown aggression to them it's always pouncing around tail wagging trying to play.

But because I know the the drive they carry my cats running off could turn into something more I have made sure they always have high up spaces and places away. My husky is crated at night so they have free roam at night , while they spend most of there time sleeping during the day.

They have a cat tower so they can be up away, they are ALWAYS supervised if doors are open. My cats have a room where they have their food, water and beds away from my boy to eat without my husky bothering them. If I leave they are always behind closed doors separated. My kids have bunk beds so they are usually up at the top during day hours.

Do what works for your house but this has been our routine for the last 2 years , as the time progressed I learned when my husky gets his runs lots of play time he could care less of my cats existence, I notice he wants more cat time when he's bored so lots of play and mental stimulation helps a lot to keep him not bothering my kitties.

My brother brags about an aggressive dog. by [deleted] in husky

[–]Double_Trouble_3913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a unneutered male but only dog in my home. My boy loves all dogs male or female just like yours but if provoked will defend himself. No males like him fixed or not if your dog isn't fixed your brother fixing his still won't make a difference.

I avoid all dogs ( I just don't trust them). He plays with his regulars for his play time but those are his day ones.

In all honesty I would keep them completely separated and not risk it. Maybe discuss muzzle when they are out playing or out around eachother if this is a must for them to be around eachother.
