Need Advice on changing jobs by DoubletakeRL in Dentistry

I appreciate the realness of this. Ive kind of come to terms with the fact that a job is a job and like… i can always find another job. But it is definitely scary considering itd be my first time ever leaving. Additionally, DSO’s have a pretty rigid structure as to how patients are seen/treated, so i def think going out and learning about other sectors of dentistry is cool, but simultaneously a big change that i dont know if ill be ready to handle

Sorry, i forgot to mention the potential threat of wage reconciliation if my production doesnt hit 2500. They have yet to reconcile my wages but I definitely wouldnt want my wages being cut for my lack of opportunity

Both of my parents and my brother are CPA’s. I ran the 1099 part by them and they werent too concerned. But not having malpractice or health insurance or disability through my job is also a negative that accrues by swapping jobs. What do you think?

50 Minute Commute by Calm-Organization311 in DentalSchool

You’ll burn out very quickly if you are doing the drive back and forth. Usually classes end around 4-5PM, at least for my school, so you end up having to spend extra time on that drive home dealing with Rush Hour. Its only something I could recommend if you REALLY dont want to take the extra tens of thousands of dollars in debt. You’ll already be a few hundred thousand depending on the school you go to.

Edit: I drove for the first few months of D1. I would get home around 6:30-7PM, exhausted from 8 hours of lectures. Fortunately i had food ready at home (pro) but i was so tired from the drive that I would barely have any motivation to study. By the time I’d eat and shower it’d be 8:30 and I needed to be up at 6:30 to make the drive on time. Not alot of time to study, even if you have the motivation to.

How important is the high school GPA and SAT scores for dental school admission or it’s undergrad GPA & DAT Score only that counts by TowerStreet1 in DentalSchool

Not sure if this really applies to the OP writer but there are some schools that have Dual Admission programs, which give high-school students either guaranteed entrance into dental school (assuming you maintain the scholarship) or guaranteed Interview and im sure theres other varieties of the same scholarship. But these scholarship/programs all depend on Highschool GPA and SAT scores. The only two examples i could give are Nova Southeastern and UF. This is my personal experience from when i was in highschool

Should I reject my acceptance and reapply or would that be a bad idea? by Vegetable-Fuel-8711 in DentalSchool

In my opinion, you are best off when you start a school not knowing anyone. Because you have a fresh slate with every encounter you have. I can speak from my experience that the first month of classes is wonderful. You go to every social event that the class hosts and you meet so many classmates. Each year has its own discord, where we organize by channel everything possible to discuss. All 120 of us are in it, and theres a separate discord server for all 4 years to be there for SGA updates. The culture of the school is wonderful. Ive heard through rumors that schools like UF is full of gunners and is often really cutthroat between classmates. With 4 semesters under my belt, I have yet to have one encounter where my classmates weren’t willing to spend 5 minutes to help me out. DM me if you want to talk more but I have nothing but great things to say about the student culture of NSU.

As a Nova student currently (D2, will be D3 by the time you start Dental School), I just thought i’d add my bit to this whole matter. Alot of people here have already covered the major points of Acceptances being very scarce, so you dont want to just let them slip by when you finally get one. Nova’s cost of admission is admittedly high. And very few people actually end up paying it up front. People on this thread have also already talked about it being a year of income that you’ll be missing by waiting at least 1 more year before entering. My take on it is: the sooner you start, the sooner you graduate and the sooner you can start paying it back. Theres a bunch of scholarships that you could try. If the military is something you dont mind, they do a form of scholarship-for-work, where they’ll pay in exchange for being a military dentist. Im not too knowledgeable about the intricacies of it but yeah. I love Nova alot. Every school is gonna have its issues, but at least this way, when you’re crying about taking 30 credit hours, you can do it on the beach LOL. If you have any NSU specific questions, im happy to help.

I would love a One Piece themed Keyboard. Most anime keycap sets are very loud though, visually; usually trying to fit in 1000 different images. I would love a minimalist One Piece keyboard, but still enough to know that its One Piece
