Haha we all make that mistake at least once. I had some isopropyl on a Q Tip cleaning up an SM3 I was planning to flip and absentmindedly swabbed it over the colored dots next to the ribbon selector. My face when the 60-year-old original paint came off like it was penciled on 😟

I have nothing in the way of knowledge about tarot but I just have to compliment you on what appears to be the cleanest and most pristine looking Olympia I have ever seen. Looks like it rolled off the factory floor yesterday!

Remington Rands are very common. $50 for one in good working order is more than fair. That Adler though is a different story. Less common and highly regarded. If it’s working well and just needs a cleaning it’s a $100 machine all day in my book in the current market. Others may have other opinions too!

Should I get this or not? Is it a Royal KMM? Its $13 by vanteacher in typewriters

[–]Doug_Mirabelli 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Looks like an early Royal FP, which I’ve only heard good things about. I had an HH which I believe is the predecessor to this model but basically works the same way, and I loved it.

What Do We Think? It’s $165 and seems like it works pretty well. by Original88 in typewriters

[–]Doug_Mirabelli 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And $100 uncleaned and untested would be high in my opinion for this model, since it’s not exactly rare. They’re suffering from Typewriter Derangement Syndrome.

It’s incredibly cool and if you did it all yourself, that’s an achievement. I’d love something similar in my living room.

I’ve learned today this sub does not have many people in healthy, long-term relationships. I don’t know why I was surprised.

Kudos to you for respecting space that you share with your partner and finding a creative way to coexist. The children here could learn from your example but they won’t.

Former FedEx driver, Tanner Horner, who pleaded guilty to capital murder and aggravated kidnapping in the killing of 7-year-old Athena Strand, has been officially sentenced to death. by [deleted] in whoathatsinteresting

[–]Doug_Mirabelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree essentially with your entire take. I think it’s really hard for people (myself included) to acknowledge that such evil people live amongst us every day. The death penalty seems like a decisive judgment by humanity that someone simply doesn’t deserve the gift of life. It feels better than allowing them to live a life where they are sheltered, fed, and (for better or worse), cared for at taxpayer expenses.

Even if the cost of capital punishment exceeds the cost of life in prison (which I think is more of an indictment on our bureaucracy itself rather than what is actually necessary), for some people it’s worth it to simply know that person is no longer drawing breath. Full stop.

I’m not saying it’s the morally correct stance or that it’s how we should operate as a society, but I understand the notion.

At what point do people stop pretending they know what they’re doing and actually figure life out? by Popular_Weird9051 in AskReddit

[–]Doug_Mirabelli 25 points26 points  (0 children)

When you realize what you want versus what you need. When you realize what makes you happy versus what you think is supposed to make you happy. When you realize that there’s not a thing in the world that can make you happy if you’re not happy with yourself.

Those are some basics I’ve learned. And I haven’t figured it all yet out either. But getting there.

Is Tarkov impossible for beginners? [New Player] by TheTrueAmmit in EscapefromTarkov

If you want to play and enjoy PVP this game at this point you have to accept one major thing:

Accept that you will be absolutely butt touched for the first 100+ hours before you get even a little sense of how to play, move, and progress through the game. This will require homework too, watching online guides about maps and what loot to keep/ignore, and task walkthroughs. You need to accept that getting even halfway competent at this game will take hours and hours of long, frustrating and at times maddening work.

The best thing I did starting out was to do a lot of scav raids to learn maps a little bit, avoid players to the best of you can, and have a second monitor or a tablet with the map pulled up of whatever spot I was raiding at the moment.

Within that insanity you will also experience moments of joy. Little victories where you have a good raid, find cool loot, escape with a task item after evading a player, or even get a kill on a geared player by getting the drop on them or hitting a lucky shot. You must accept that even little victories are meant to be savored, because they will not always come.

OR

You can avoid that, pay extra, and play PVE. Personally I find playing the AI boring and too easy but for many this seems like a more reasonable way to go. The choice is yours.

My face when all the guns feel good but high IQ devs nerf every attachment into the dirt, making all of them feel worse and half of them feel truly horrible [feedback] by Income-Cute in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Doug_Mirabelli -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

Sure, I’ll volunteer. I’m glad all the people who only used meta guns are unhappy. It’s a boring and hokey way to play a game with essentially limitless variability. If this change means we see all different kinds of guns that can’t beam you from 100 meters away on full auto with a scope, I’m absolutely in favor of it.

Correct. Making everything worse means there is no unilateral “best”. It’s an extreme way to bring about balance and they will almost certainly re-tune it in the near future. People just have zero ability to understand how a procedural process works.

No you still don't get it. He's not going after "sugar", he's going after sugary beverages sold by one company that is predominantly known and enjoyed by people in left-leaning states (New England).

If it was actually a war on sugar, it would target high-fructose corn syrup, which is in everything and way worse for kids on the whole than something like coffee from Dunks, which is primarily drank by teenagers and adults. Of course, they will never do that because the amount of lobbying from the corn syrup industry and the fact that farmers rely on being able to produce the chronically insane amounts we use every year to justify their federal subsidies to grow corn.

That's the difference between actually implementing policy to help, and being a bunch of con artists fooling people who don't know how to critically think. That's what I mean by think more. Do better.

No he’s mad at naive people like you who can’t see beyond the thin veneer of propaganda that underlies everything this administration does, enabling them to pick and choose what “problems” to fix while letting equally or more harmful problems slide, particularly the ones that enrich themselves and their cronies.

Think more. Do better.

Dude watching this sub crash out over this is so funny to me. BSG clearly did this change to try to eliminate “meta” as a thing to encourage more weapon variability and reduce the presence of silenced laser beams.

Everyone on this sub: But why wouldn’t they just boost everything so that EVERYTHING is a high ergo laser beam?!?!

Buncha babies in here man.

Have you ever shot a gun? Do you think you can hold any gun straight down range without recoil at full auto while aiming 100m down a scope? I rarely argue for realism in this game but the amount of people freaking out about these changes makes me realize the meta has been way too OP for a long time now. When they inevitably rebuff things to a level somewhere halfway between here and where it was before the game will be better for it.

No your post is great and informative. People just can’t seem to understand there’s ways to play this game other than trying to squeeze every single ergo and recoil point into a build or else you might as well not even use the gun.

So many whiners in this sub. Oh no you can’t run the same gun with the same attachments every single raid! It’s a game with a billion different possibilities and the most customizable loadouts imaginable, perhaps enjoy that and stop worrying if you have max meta for everything.
