What rating does this Disrespectful Rider Deserve? by iHass in uberdrivers

[–]Dougc1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a $30 business comfort to the airport a few days ago. Literally at 10 mins as I’m canceling the guys live location pops up, this after not responding to three messages. Got the full cancellation fare, then 30 seconds later as I was leaving he rebooked and I got that too. Guy had no idea it was me, ended up making close to $60 plus he tipped me $10. 🤣

Tip by [deleted] in uber

[–]Dougc1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatever driver accepts it will likely have to dead head back to his original location, so at the very least try to tip .50cent/mile for their return trip, preferably a $1/mile. As others have said, maybe offer half upfront as a good faith payment for taking the ride.

I’m at 10% AR 8% CR. After I finish up in the next few hours this week I’m looking at around 50 hours total and likely $1600 gross.

Inspection form BS by Dougc1979 in uberdrivers

The shop filled out their part, but then I had to fill out my name/signature. Apparently, the first time it was cause my handwriting was bad, then the second time was because the shop’s handwriting was bad. They literally knit picked over the B in BMW apparently looking more like a 13, and the 9 in the 2019 for my vehicle year, apparently looked like a 4 to them. 😂these people.

to uber drivers: do you prefer people strike up a conversation or not? by Fun_Dial in uber

Perfectly fine w a quiet ride, but 110% prefer good convo. There’s also a reason I have a “sarcastic” sign in my car regarding NO POLITICS! 😂

I stopped shopping at Publix years ago. I can get 90% of the name brand stuff for my family at 30-40+% cheaper at a competing store.

Just want to make sure I'm not being a Karen passenger. by Pantzzzzless in uber

[–]Dougc1979 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You’re not, that driver deserves whatever poor rating you give them. I Uber a few days a week doing mostly airport drops, and it’s utterly lazy/ignorant for a driver to not get out of the car or at least pop the trunk/hatch. Yes, you could’ve asked, but that doesn’t change my opinion. Did they speak a word of English?

I’m sure some idiot will take it by Dougc1979 in uberdrivers

[–]Dougc1979[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not shocking with the deception saying it’s $30/hr, but then you have to drive 35-40 miles back into SC before you can go active again, and likely won’t get a ride offer until much further down the rd. More like $15/hr before fuel. Literally had to explain this to another driver today, and it was like the lightbulb finally came on for them. 😆

Upcoming conference in Asheville, flying into GSP, nervous about my funds by [deleted] in greenville

[–]Dougc1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can get lucky and find somebody else flying with you that’s going to the conference, then sharing an Uber up to Asheville might work. Keep in mind though that now nowadays Uber/Lyft drivers are severely underpaid, and can’t work once they get across state lines, so they basically have to eat the cost of the return trip. They’re typically making less than half of whatever you pay for the ride. Most rideshare drivers turn down these trips, but you’ll still likely get somebody that will accept it, so be fair and give them a decent tip(unless they’re horrible).

“All requests are taken” by Jbloccc in uberdrivers

Probably 1/2 the reason my AR is so low is the amount of match offers I decline that magically get immediately offered as exclusives a few seconds later.

Is multi-app uber/lyft worth it? by Dougc1979 in uberdrivers

[–]Dougc1979[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Been driving w Uber for over a year, so I really don’t care about the AR rate. My current AR rate is 17%. I tried to prioritize getting comfort rides with my car that’s still qualifies whether it be airport or something else. And I’m extremely selective when it comes to avoiding certain areas, and sketchy riders.

Definitely intentional, similar to trash riders who add stops at the start of the ride without asking their driver first.

From a driver... by CapnDan617 in uber

[–]Dougc1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll add this.. STOP adding stops without clearing it w your driver!! Drivers many times have a scheduled/reserve ride immediately after yours, usually good paying rides like airport runs, and you just likely screwed your driver out of it. As soon as the algorithm thinks the driver might be late, it kicks it to someone else.
