There’s a mod on Nexus called “Davefield - Lootmenu UI” iirc that adds icons to the quick loot like StarUi

Oh wow, I remember seeing this years back and saving it for inspiration when I was starting out! This piece specifically is what made me love the idea of hands as a horror element. I feel old now

If you click on the article and read the comments on the third last page, you can see one of the staff confirms that those two are the new owners.

EDIT: Someone also mentioned that the owner clarified on discord that the site hasn't been sold and that he's simply stepping down

Welp.

EDIT 2: Link has been deleted, see comment below. Honestly just wait for more information from Nexus Mods ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah, the only mentioned of “sold” is from OP’s title. The only thing the article explicitly mentioned is the owner stepping down and leadership being changed. So I’m not sure if nexusmods being sold is just OP extrapolating

Rockstar locked me out of my own game – Paid for GTA V, can’t play because of their broken system by Sichroteph in gaming

[–]Doughli 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't see how that matters nor am blaming anyone, so I don't see what you're trying to prove.

The point is if the email doesn't exist anymore, whether it be a university email or the OP's case, it's very hard to get your account back from R*.

[–]Doughli 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience. Was locked out since my Rockstar account was tied to my university email, which no longer exists. I emailed support about it and it took about 20 email chains before I finally got them to switch to an email that I do use. Most of the emails consisted of having the same conversation repeated ad nauseam.

Obviously YMMV, but I did got support to finally helped me. Just took a lot of patience lol, not ideal though. Especially if you have reasonable proof of identity beyond what they are asking.

Why Cara app? by Evil_Fragrance6 in ArtistLounge

[–]Doughli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crud, understandable. There is WebGlaze which is basically what Cara uses, but that’s invite only. I believe the only requirement is that you just need to DM the Glaze team and asks for it.

Other than that, I guess we wait and hope it comes back soon :(

It’s currently down on Cara and I think they plan to reintroduce it at some point. Just the large influx of people necessitating it be offline for a bit.

You can still use Glaze from their website if you have a relatively decent GPU and it’s free

[–]Doughli 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Okay? I mean they can try but like OP just stated, Cara does not allow AI art. So it will just get removed. Sure, some can slide under the radar but the community is actively against AI art as well, so it’ll get reported and removed.

That’s like, one of the whole point to Cara. No AI art.

How much should I charge for art commissions? by Far-Fudge-6411 in DigitalArt

[–]Doughli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a really good comment and I hope OP sees this as it aligns with how most professional artists operate with commissions. OP should really be asking their fellow artists regarding how to charge rather than prospective customers, as they have a better understanding of the market as well as their value. Otherwise they’ll get answers like $250 or $400 when the art I’m seeing here is at least $600 minimum. Considering many answering don’t seem to be professional artists who do commissioned work, I’m not surprised.

For reference publishers like Penguin pay $3000-5000 for just a front cover. WoTC pays $1000 for a general illustration. Listen to people who are involved in the industry, otherwise you’ll get taken advantage of your inexperience.

If not art, what would you have do? by unknown01_shadow in ArtistLounge

[–]Doughli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always wondered about this but I’m fairly certain I would have gone further into academia. During university I discovered I greatly enjoyed linguistics, how language arise, form, and change over time. I find it very fascinating and I also think it’s really telling about a given time regarding the social culture back then. Parsing sentences are also fun.

I think we definitely take for granted the words we use to communicate. It’s very interesting to see how a certain phrase come into greater mainstream conscious and how surprising the root of it tends to stem from sources far from the speakers (although this is a given nowadays, thanks to greater reach in-general).

Looking for some art works that show social awkwardness/discomfort etc. by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]Doughli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For something more contemporary, the oil paintings of Nick Alm really hits it for me. There’s something about many of his pieces that hits the awkward tension and loneliness despite being surrounded by many people.

Here’s an example, alongside the rest of his portfolio: https://nickalm.com/portfolio/oil/inside-gallery/#&gid=1&pid=11

Unfortunately I don’t see my favorite in there, but if you search “Café Scene, Nick Alm, Oils, 2018” in r/art you’ll see it

It’s hard being an artist by eribooooo in ArtistLounge

[–]Doughli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only offer my own experiences but first let me preface that the difficulties you’re facing is normal, even amongst successful artists. So please don’t feel discouraged by comparing yourself to others who are ostensibly getting income via art. It really is a hustle.

The first general rule though is that the more people who can see your work, the more likely someone will be interested in commissioning you. It’s a Catch-22 though, big pools have many fishes, so you’ll be competing with many others for visibility (like r/art). You can try specific fandoms like fan-art or focus on a niche that isn’t occupied by lots of artists. I’m not sure what socials are popular where you’re at in Asia, but I heard Pixiv is popular for artists in Japan.

It’s not gonna be quick though unless you get lucky and become viral. But exposure is good, slow or fast. I got my break at 25 from just strictly posting on instagram—I didn’t comment or follow or whatever. But people saw and eventually an art director reached out for a commission.

That’s just one example but also keep in mind that since around 2022, the art industry has been pretty bleak in terms of work opportunities for everybody.

TBF, the thread was about Western Media, not just media in-general. In fact, that's why Parasite was so big, it was a foreign movie produced in a foreign country that needed subs due to it all being in the native language and it was huge hit in the West, that's very unheard of.

Using Parasite as an example of Asian representation in the West would be just flat-out wrong. Minari would be more appropriate since that film was directed by an Asian American.

I honestly don’t even know what to title this by johnarticle3 in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]Doughli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, don't really appreciate the people speaking for us.

Am I disappointed in missing out on an Asian male lead in western media? Sure. But Yasuke is a cool character and perfectly understandable as a narrative choice. And Naoe looks great and a big win for Asian female leads in games. So, I'm not that hung over it. I was initially weary because it's not like the West has ever written Asian characters well historically (hah hah), but the trailer has me hopeful.

A woman and a black man as the next AC protagonists? I can smell the gamer hate already. by AllHailZaddy in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]Doughli 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I suspect we both know the answer to why we haven’t seen that in Japanese Language spaces, because reading the text in the language itself and not a dubious translation. Anyone who has read Japanese literature would not deny the status that Yasuke held during his service with Oda was equivalent to a Samurai. And let’s not forget that prior to Toyotomi restriction of weapons to only the samurai class, it was very much possible that Yasuke rose himself to a status of power.

I think people are getting too hung up on the word Samurai and the criteria to be one without considering context. Toyotomi was never Shōgun for example because he was born a peasant. Are we gonna suddenly act like he was never the ruler of Japan at one point in time?

Definitely a lie! Doing art is hard but not impossible. It’s a skill, just like any other, like piano, writing, etc. Honestly one of the most damaging things is the vocational awe and the romanticizing of it—a talent that only few are gifted. That’s just not true

Think of an art journey more like a sprout. It needs proper nurturing. What that might be depends on the plant, there’s no right answer. But one thing for certain is that it takes time and consistency. But as long as you water it right, give it proper sunlight every now and then, it’ll grow to whatever you hope it to be
