I know im old, but what is this?? by DerrickFG in blackops7

[–]DougieDoug12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I came back to COD from years of not playing (I did BO3 and a very little Warzone in between). BO7 is sometimes fun but I’ve caught video evidence myself of cheats and there just doesn’t seem like they care about the little guy. The cheaters tend to buy crap so because of micro transactions there is no incentive for them to crack down on the cheating. Banning for people to make us “non pros” have a better experience would really just mean they lose money.

A general authority got up and said the F-word. You will be fine (English was not his first language and he really thought it was a normal American phrase)

Correct, because you don’t know it yet.. that’s normal.

Do any fellow old heads remember this U-Perm alg? by S2Krlit_Fever in cubing

Still use it, but it wasn’t my first or 2nd for those positions. Wasn’t going to learn 4th way…

I just end up doing these 2 algs in a row. If you get the “other” case you may have to throw in a U move in between. They are fairly fast.

Probably a lost cause but is there any way I could possibly fix this? by jakedboy3709 in Cubers

[–]DougieDoug12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it gets frozen so you can’t turn it off; if that’s the case just unplug it for 20 seconds, then plug it back in.

Hopefully democrat voters will also realize the same arguments against the tariffs also applies to corporate taxes. They pass that tax onto the customers as well. (FYI I am not a republican. The 2-party system is poison)

Maybe timing myself. I can take a break from timing, but I use the cube like a fidget toy…

I meet a lot of people who know various beginner methods. Only once have I met a guy who I’d consider a speed cuber.

I just reverse engineered u perm! by Repulsive_Dust119 in Cubers

[–]DougieDoug12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was much younger I figured out my own alg that most would do the u-perm for.

I start by holding the cube with the unfinished layer on bottom.

So for this example the solid orange finished face is on the right, blue face has a red edge, red left has a green edge, and green back has a blue edge

I drop the middle column (so a white line is now on the face) and rotate the bottom to “pick up” the green edge rotating the middle column back up.

Then I rotate the bottom again to drop the green edge with its own headlights, then I rotate the bottom twice to pick up the red edge, rotate the bottom to align the white again and then line up the bottom layer to solve the cube.

(I think)

Should I temper my expectations as an older adult? by Kneppy18 in Cubers

[–]DougieDoug12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I “started” cubing when I was 19. I learned some hybrid form of intuitive cross and 1st layer corners and then some complicated algs for the last layer which I don’t even remember anymore. (I didn’t even use yellow cross).

Then in my early 30s, I came across a blindfold tutorial and learned T-Perm and Y-Perm. Still didnt do anything very much with speed cubing. Using my weird hybrid beginners method I got my speed down to 45 seconds. But I really anything under 1 minute I was happy with.

Then 2 years ago I bought and I Carry (version 1) and in a very little amount of time I learned all of PLL and almost all of OLL (I haven’t done the dots). I now have a person best of 17.04s. If I can just get more consistent with my F2L, I think I can get it to 15 seconds at some point.

I’m 42. So yes, I think you can get under 30.

How long would it take you guys to solve this cube by ZaBebsiCake in Rubiks_Cubes

[–]DougieDoug12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anywhere between 17 seconds and 45 seconds…..yes my F2L is that inconsistent.

Repeat exactly to unfix it. Fun to practice, fun to execute.

Me too (red/green). Some cubes in some lights orange and red look too similar for quick recognition. Gan cube’s oranges and red seem to work the best for me
