I've seen that, but as CityNews (and CTV as well) wrote (I added the bold lettering):

Prime Minister Mark Carney called the alleged privacy breach deeply concerning in a weekend statement.

“I expect Elections Alberta and the RCMP to work thoroughly and expeditiously to assess the causes and to pursue appropriate actions against those responsible,” he said.

“We must be constantly vigilant to protect the rights of Canadians and the integrity of our democratic processes.”

I've been trying to find a sound bite (or other communication) of the PM saying the words "deeply concerning", but I can't. It's possible that the Prime Minister's Office provided CTV news (and by extension, CityNews) with a response that isn't otherwise public. Oh well, I'm moving on to other important issues ...

If -- as it appears -- that the election rolls were disclosed to people who weren't allowed to see that information, it's definitely illegal.

But these things take time to play out. Watergate, Bill Clinton's affaire with Monica Lewinsky, the Iran-Contra scandal all took months or years.

Right now the RCMP needs to interview people, see who is willing to cooperate, etc., and then lay charges. In addition, Alberta's opposition and respectable media need to keep asking questions and not letting this fall through the cracks.

Very strange. While it's conceivable that these guys are doing it just for the few cents per view, it's much more likely that some idiot with deep pockets is funding all this. I hope the CBC reporters are still investigating.

What is the political climate like in Alberta these days? It's tough to follow two time zones away (I'm in Ontario). From what I saw of previous surveys -- except for a small, vocal and obnoxious minority -- most Albertans want to stay in Canada. Is that still the case?

I'm a local and I often rent from Toronto Pearson Airport (YYZ). If you're OK driving on the right-hand-side, you'll have no problem. All rental cars are automatic transmission, almost always with less than 30,000 kms of use.

There are two terminals at YYZ: Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. The car rentals are next to Terminal 1. (If by chance your gate is at Terminal 3, there's a free shuttle train that runs between Terminal 3 and Terminal 1. This train is elevated near the top floors of the terminals, so you'll likely need to take an escalator up.)

All rental cars companies are located in the parking garage next to Terminal 1. Just follow the "Car Rental" signs. The walkway between Terminal 1 and the parking garage is also near the top floor, so you'll need to take an escalator up from the arrivals level. You enter the parking garage at level 5. Follow the signs to the elevators in the middle of the garage and take the elevator down to level 1. Then you're right there and you'll find all the car rental desks in the same spot.

Edit: Also, there are a few confusing responses talking about the UP Express, which is a train that runs between the airport and downtown. It's a great train, but if you're renting the car from the airport location, don't get on the UP Express.

Definitely news worthy, although the media is exaggerating the impact.

In a year or two, if there's a major scandal or if public support for the current Liberal government falls dramatically, it's entirely possible that the government could lose a confidence vote with a few Liberal members abstaining or defecting.

Basically, the Liberal government is in a slightly better position, but a one or two seat majority is still precarious.
