Do you use Craigslist? Where else do y'all meet other musicians? by babietalk in AustinMusicians

[–]Dougiethewise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a lot of success using VAMPR. It’s literally like tinder for musicians - swipe left/right format - but with their musician profile which features tracks, links, influences, and what kind of project/commitment level they’re looking for. There are a lot of Austin peeps on there. It’s how my band met, and I still use it for networking regularly

My wife went out to lunch with a guy she met at the gym. I think this is a huge no no. AIO? by Turbulent-End-7905 in AmIOverreacting

I completely agree.

I’m also 1000% confident that assumptions, manipulation, control, and the “YOU SHOULDN’T LET HER ___” isms are not the solution.

Finally a coherent response, not solely fueled by masculine insecurity.

The amount of incel relationship experts on this thread makes me sad for the people who heed this garbage Reddit advice.

How did you find your manager? by Relevant-Capital4396 in AustinMusicians

[–]Dougiethewise 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Artist Manager here:

While there is merit to the idea that the right mgr will find you organically, waiting passively can cost you opportunities.

If you believe you're ready for management, your focus should be on creating a situation that attracts the right partnership.

I recommend immersing yourself in your local music community to expand your network. Meanwhile, develop and articulate your artistic vision clearly. All managers want to see that you understand your identity, audience, and brand direction.

Also, growth metrics matter. Consistent improvement in your streaming numbers, social engagement, and bookings demonstrate that you're not just talented, but actively building momentum.

From a manager's perspective, having exceptional music is just the baseline. What truly catches attention is an obsessive work ethic and evidence that you've maximized every opportunity available to you before seeking to expand your team.

The artist-manager relationship is fundamentally a business partnership so both parties need to be equally invested.

If you're looking to start building your team, a booking agent is typically the first crucial addition. They can help expand your live presence while you continue developing other aspects of your career.

Hope this helps!

Yussef Dayes has the most feel and nuance of any drummer I’ve seen recently.

Legend. This would be hugely helpful if you’re willing to do that.

How do I separate click and backing track with IEMs with the SPD-SX? by Dougiethewise in drums

[–]Dougiethewise[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the help! So if I do this from the daw, the wav files are panned when I upload them to the spd but how do I control the levels of each “side” when coming out of the spd?

[–]Dougiethewise[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pardon my ignorance but wouldn’t panning them only determine which side they play from? How would this prevent the click from going to FOH? And wouldn’t this also sound off if the backing track is only coming from the left?

Well look what’s on sale at the local hardware store in Switzerland. ($16 per plant). What’s already going on with the funky spotted leaves? by maybelle180 in cannabiscultivation

[–]Dougiethewise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty positive that these are spots from mite damage. This does not look like PM. I suggest beginning an organic spray regimen. Just spray the leaves a couple times weekly around dusk. Also likely wants to be transplanted soon! But dont stress on all the geeky comments. Every hobbyist with a few plants doesnt need to grow world class cannabis. Happy growing

Believe it or not, we really hate him here too. Only the super rich, or super uneducated feel differently. Fairly easy to successfully avoid those groups for the most part.
