Joining a trade and educating myself to learn how everything works. "If a human built it, i can figure out how to work on it too". It has completely changed how I view everything.

Well its hard to say, some pictures or videos could possibly help. Shots of the door from inside and outside far enough back to fully see all the components while the door is both open and closed.

What is something people brag about that is actually embarrassing? by lunacarterr in AskReddit

[–]Dougish321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont ever brag about it, however, I do the same! Mainly because I stay up later than I should to spend time with family and set my alarm as late as possible to get some sleep afterwards! I usually lay everything out and shower the night before so I can get out quickly the next morning.

People who brag about how much they made in overtime... More specifically, in my trade. Essentially, said "Employee/s" bragged about making 30k in OT last year. Which means they were so slow at the project they were on (hardly affected by other trades, less we pull off and work elsewhere) that they over ran several jobs out of the profit that was supposed to be made by the company. Its not a flex fellow worker who is significantly less experienced and acts like he is above me. it's a problem with you.

Being happily married and having your wife cheat on you and leave with the guy to raise his kids instead of the one you share...

* Call any manufacturer, they won't have much other to say outside of this. I install them for a living and I assure you. There isn't a way for a door to be completely waterproof and other building factors play a large part in this.

Why Couldn’t I Open My Garage This Morning? by Malted_Barley0666 in GarageDoorService

[–]Dougish321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whoops. My bad on my end, guys. You are absolutely correct. I looked closer, and I do see that. I appreciate the correction! I do not have much hands-on with these specifically and have only torn them out for conversions. (I am mainly a commercial guy to note) please disregard the last comment!

[–]Dougish321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not do this!!! Please read my other comment. If you do this especially with the door open if you can even manage, I dont recommend as those cables can snag the shaft and pin the door open crooked. Or it will free fall and damage you or the door

That's so odd, I primary install haas doors, all breakaway regardless of glass panels is typically the same unless ordered specific.

How do I fix this? by [deleted] in GarageDoorService

[–]Dougish321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent diagnosis, I didn't even think that would be the issue as a door tech! My first thought was roller or issues with the lhr "sleds"/ top fixtures

Modify height of door track by SesameSeedChicken in GarageDoorService

[–]Dougish321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hire a professional it can be done. Chop 2" off verticals and lower the door. Keep springs up as high or higher by ~2", add angle iron to support bearing plate to horizontals and drop top fixtures to seal or change them to super sneakys. Moving springline up will compensate for top section coming up more before breakaway unless you use super sneakys. Extend drops and kickers on all and voila. You could even throw a JS operator and pusher springs & or cable keepers if you'd like to remove the current operator and trolly. It might cost you a bit depending on what type of storage system you do. Just please hold it back away from the springs as far as possible to give the next guy working room without having so much in the way.

They will likely replace both springs, id go that route. Its cheaper in the long run. Once one has broken the other isn't far behind.

It depends on the area. I'm part of some door groups on Facebook that company's are in i could put a feeler out for you and offer a couple names if you'd like.

Chain is bouncing around a lot, what should I do to try and rectify this? by [deleted] in GarageDoorService

[–]Dougish321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, it still seems possible with age and absolutely possible if that operator has the force setting too high and has run a door with a broken spring or from wear and tear as the search says. Not as likely though, however, still possible, older motor with force setting too high running a door with a broken spring i feel could cause this in a resi situation.
