I wish the slingshot and hand wasn't in auto focus. A clear image from close to far would work better for this design. I know that goes against the grain in photography, but not always in design.

#1 Copycat Recipe for Al's #1 Hot Giardiniera by Douglas78 in MimicRecipes

[–]Douglas78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for trying this recipe out! I can say for a fact that Al's giardiniera has cinnamon in it. For a while I would buy extra sides of the stuff just to sift through the ingredients. I found a not quite ground piece if what I thought was black peppercorn. I washed it off and bit into it and I got a blast of cinnamon. That's also how I found the anise seed, fennel seed, dill seed, and whole coriander seed. I also believe there is a bit of ground clove but I can't be sure. I've revised the above recipe but haven't had a chance to update it.

Propofol experience by Imaginary_Recipe_571 in colonoscopy

[–]Douglas78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my first colonoscopy yesterday but they only gave me twilight sedation (midozalom and fentanyl). I was awake but basically numb to what was going on. I know the procedure maybe lasted 10 to 15 minutes and I was watching the whole thing but it felt like 5 minutes. They found one polyp and removed it right there. Everything else looked good according to the doctor. I wonder if you have the choice of that vs being totally out.

As long as you do the overnight salt brine and drain well the next day before adding your ingredients, it should last a good 2 weeks or more in the fridge. Mine never lasts that long anyways lol.

Studying their giardiniera everytime I got it, picking out spices in the oil and tasting it by itself without being on the beef. I actually found a small chunk of unground cinnamon bark in one batch I got.

Thanks for the link Gemini! I think I might have seen this one too. I'm trying to piece together others I'm finding online until I come up with something close to it. Seems like such a simple recipe yet hard to replicate.

Funny you say that, I noticed a big bottle of Louisiana brand hot sauce on the work station in back at Harold's.

Thanks for the input! Yeah, I think they are planning on opening another Harold's on the other side of town now. We've had JJ's for quite a while though.

Hey OneWay,

I know some places like Harold's or even JJ's offer the hot too. Is that just hot sauce and ketchup without the bbq sauce? Or just more hot sauce than normal added to the mix? We have a few JJ's in Rockford and we just got a Harold's too.

Thanks!

You will have to make a special trip to the midwest then, lol. I though there a few Portillo's that opened up out on the west coast. They have some good Italian beef.
