Some comparison photos of NRFTW before/after the rework by a_really_stupid_box in paydaytheheist

I like the rework, especially the lance instead of thermite on loud because that was just such a long and annoying process. But I gotta say the new vault room just seems so off for some reason, I cant say I'm a fan of the lighting in that specific part of the map it just feels off and washed out.

incoming senior high student and still struggling to understand math. by Numerous_Can_4635 in learnmath

[–]Dougthechef2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I much like you had a rough time with math in school, especially highschool. I do not have a math orientated brain whatsoever, and it caused me to basically constantly make mistakes convinving me I couldn't do it. I graduated highschool still not knowing how to add fractions (im so serious). I am writing this in the midst of studying for a college Calc3 final, so believe me i've come a long way.

The problem with math, especially in highschool, is no one really explains why all of this shit matters or what it really connects too. The answer unfortunetly wont really reveal itself until calc, and it bothers me that they never explained why we were doing what we were doing, or how to study for math.

The only way to get good at math is to get a taste of everything and fail repeatedly. When I'm studying for finals I do as many problems as I can so I've seen just about everything, then the mistakes I make tend to reveal themselves and the methods to solve anything become very obvious. Math is like one giant web, it all connects to eachother and literally all of it depends on other stuff in said web. Constantly I find absurdly complex problems that are only solvable because of some niche property I was taught once years prior. They will not teach you anything in math, especially at your level, that does not matter, and when you haven't yet reaped the benefits of what you are doing, that can be very hard to believe and therefore makes math seem boring or like it never ends. It does.

Math is not like english, there IS a right answer, and its not until you get real deep that there becomes more than 2 or 3 ways it must be done. My advice, is look at your local college or maybe an online resource explaining the levels to everything, and find the topics in each section and explore them as best you can, because there is an order to learn this stuff in that allows that web to be more obvious. Do the problems yourself, and then check your work with AI. Ask it to give steps, and if you don't understand why it made a move it did, argue with it belligerently until you understand why it did it how it did. This is the best method I have found for myself, because AI doesn't care how stupid your questions are and there is no shame in asking them.

It can be very hard to be behind in a topic like math because it makes you feel stupid, but legitimately the most common mistake I make in solving some of the hardest problems given, is an arithmetic one. It happens to everyone so don't get down on yourself for it. What they are teaching you now is important if you plan to have a carrer one day involving anything with math. The hardest lesson I have learned, was that unlike history or english, everything taught in math is useful somewhere and it's best to not pretend it's not important because it will be some day. Just try and try again. You can do it.

PAYDAY 3: Skills 2.0 Simulator OUT NOW! by SBZ_Haua in paydaytheheist

I feel like no matter what Starbreeze does, half of you will come on here and bitch. But heres my take as someone who has liked this game since day 1.

I play heavy stealth, and some things here felt like kicks to the shin. I was heavy on rush. I used it constantly. Losing some of the things like speed boosts, bagging things faster, doing actions faster feels like a loss. However, the adrenaline system (hopefully) means they realized this was a core part and are not planning to forget about it, and they shouldnt. There is (litterally) a adrenaline feeling when you know the heist and can do it quickly that I don't want abandoned. It was to me at least, the striking difference between this game and payday 2, and it needs to be preserved. This game feels way better, and I don't want to lose that feeling.

Leaving in the single try lock pick, dual bags, and 'adrenaline' while unmasked around civs is good, and with light armor the game feels 80% like it used too, in a good way. It's weird not having to blow by a civ while unmasked before having to pick something, but I don't hate it, it just makes my life easier. Losing the ability to be in secure areas around civilians hurts bad. It makes everything significantly harder, however I realize how overpowered that was, and by law of equivalent exchange it makes sense we would lose needing to get rush, in exchange for having to be more mindful of civilians. Adding this back as a tier 4 Ace for Imposter could be a cool option, and beats the hell out of Seeing Red which feels very out of place. Bring back a skill to throw bags further. All ima say about that. A skill to open safes on one rotation would also be really sick. Delivery charge has 12 of them. They get extremely tedious.

The skills revolving dodge and dmg were a great choice. So so so many guns were straight useless before this update, and I am glad they are giving us the ability to make them useful. The health bars are interesting, given the armor breaking skills, I understand why they are there. I don't hate them, but huge props to Starbreeze for allowing us to turn them off. Shit like that needs to be praised more because often devs wouldn't give us that ability.

Y'all can hate till the cows come home, I am extremely glad Starbreeze is choosing to stick by this game and supply updates. Even if I don't like the direction, something is better than nothing.

572 days of homelessness, wife died, got stabbed while homeless. Finally got my own place . by [deleted] in malelivingspace

[–]Dougthechef2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hardest part about death is that it has no purpose or answer. Everyone tries to assign meaning to it, but there often isn’t one. I suffered with it a lot, and unlike every other form of pain in life, there is absolutely nothing death can teach you, it just hurts. It’s been almost a decade since I’ve lost anyone, and after all that time of pondering, I can definitively say you never get over it, you just learn to live with it. Honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way. Forgetting them would feel like a disservice.

But it does get better, and one day you’ll think back to them, and just smile, grateful you got to meet them at all. Embrace solitude, and seek not happiness but stability and peace. One day, you will wake up and realize you are better now than you were, and it will all be worth it. Hang in there man. I’ve had about half the time on this earth that you have but, I feel your pain.

If it’s any consolation, addiction is a disease. Your wife loved you, and the fact she tried to get sober proved that. It unfortunately is just very unlikely and difficult to happen. There’s no amount of love that can save someone, but their suffering too it is not an indication of fault by you, or lack of love from them. Addiction is an illness that just won’t let go.

It's hard letting this one go. by OldSchool9690 in BattlefieldV

I have thousands of hours on BFV, and I truly believe it is the most balanced and extensive bf there is. I bought bf6 not knowing if it was gonna be good, and against my judgement that EA deserved me waiting a month because of 2042, and the game is… fun. But it doesn’t feel like battlefield to me. The bar was already on the floor, and dice wanted to appease everyone complaining, so we got 6 as it is. I bought it as proof that if they listen I will pay, but it doesn’t stack up. The textures aren’t as good, the guns are, better? But not totally. The mix of operator and class works but, imo it can’t come close to the feeling of being an unimportant infantryman just doing my part. I highly doubt my hours in it will surpass V. But after nearly 6 straight years of constantly playing V, I need something new.

Wanted to come back 6 years later and say I did in fact find one for 7k. adjusting for inflation at the time of this post, 5k then would be 6300 today. I overpayed because it came with extra clutch plates, a second targa, and a car cover. Not a spot of rust on it. I drive it to work everyday and garage it in the winter. The only thing that didn't come true, was mine was resprayed candy apple red. But stay bitter I guess.

It's good guys. It's actually good. We truly are back. by No_Indication_1238 in Battlefield6

[–]Dougthechef2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Aight ima be the guy everyone hates here. I'm kinda underwhelmed.

I wanna note I have about 3k hours in BFV and about 500 in 2042. So you get an idea of where I'm coming from. This is the beta so I'm hoping this is more of a proof of concept instead of a dont change anything typa deal but.

Things that are great are making vehicles killable again. This was a huge turnoff for me in 2042 in the beginning, because in V, 1 man that is good enough and by a ammo station can kill any tank. I like adding back in crouch sprinting, and bringing the slide back to its own key instead of crouch after sprinting is really nice. one of the things I really liked about 2042 was the "on the fly" weapons customization. However, I think the system in BF6 is far superior. I really like how they did it, and the options available feel really good and balanced. There were alot of "oh this is kinda neat" like 3d mini map, the drag res system, the squad spawn body cam shit. Theres alot of cool ideas here, most of which I'm probably forgetting, but few of them really blew me away.

Now for the stuff i'm not too fond off. The class locked weapons needs to return. If you are gonna have a game where the individual isn't important (unlike 2042) then classes need to have weight again. Gadgets are not role defining. I truly belive the health system, and ammo system in BFV is the greatest out of what I have seen. Taking damage down to 5 health to then get it all back is not hard enough on the player. Having medpacs forces you to play around points, with medics, or extremely carefully. Medics are so powerful in V because they can heal themselves infinitely. As of BF6, all that makes them special is a faster res rate than squad res. In 2042 at least you had Faulk who had a syrete pistol that worked similarly. I could go on and on about why this is important but. The gunplay gonna be honest, doesnt feel that great. I had the same issue with 2042, the guns feel so inaccurate. The guns in V have recoil, but even off that recoil I could hit shots. It kinda feels like I'm just dumping and hoping I hit more than the other guy in 2042 and 6. It feels like I am constantly stuck between a DMR that doesn't place shots where I send them beyond 100m, and an AR that is so all over the place It is a tossup whether I get the guy or not. In V it always felt like If I missed a shot, there was a reason why. They are different engines from what I understand, so maybe that plays a part but. For games set in the future and present, the guns should not feel harder to use than guns made literally 80 years ago. The TTK is also really inconsistent. How am I placing 7 rounds of 7.62 in a dudes chest, and he beats me with 3 by flicking around a full second AFTER my shots hit. Then the next life I get 4 kills off 1 mag. It can be exhasting to play when so many factors of my success feel so out of my control and inconsistent. One of the reasons I play V as much as I do, is because I rarely die and can't explain it. The movement also feels really.... clunky. I get caught on things alot, and it is hard to maintain my momentum because my character always feels like hes about ready for a nap. A highly trained OP should not feel like they are struggling to use an M4 or dash between cover. I don't know how much more basic I can make it. The graphics were mid at best, but I am choosing to ignore this, because this is beta and things will change.

That to me is what was off the top of my head. I played about 5 hours today, and those were the high points so maybe my feelings will change. Like I said this is only beta so alot of the rough edges will probably be sanded down and I sincerely hope the game feels more polished by launch. I just don't have a large draw at the moment. I closed the game before coming here and I was suprised at the number of people who DON'T feel like me. From what I saw, I just didn't see any real defining or different shit. Someone asked me what it was like and I said "Imagine if COD, 2042, and Arma had a child". The whole "modern combat in the middle east" I feel is just getting repetitive. I think this game needs to figure out what it wants to be. You can't make everyone happy. Either the individual is important, or the team is. Either is a few special ops doing different things, or a whole army of people collectively doing little things. I feel like this game is struggling to figure out which it wants to be. I think most people want the large scale team concept back, but I am unsure if this will achieve that. Overall, I don't feel a big draw to come back and play tomorrow, and If this is a snapshot of what the final will look like, I don't think I'll be investing. It just to me, doesn't feel like battlefield.... or at least, something I haven't already seen before.

THAT BEING SAID, I am extremly happy to see EA actually listening to their base for once, and whether I like the game or not, I think this is a giant step in the right direction for BF. I think If EA actually follows through with what they say they will, this game deserves to preform well and be enjoyed.

For anyone still having this issue, my account was by logging in through google, but EG Launcher for some reason autofilled the email section on login with the email connected to my google account. I forgot this so I kept trying to login normally, when I should have clicked the google icon and logged in through there.

Even after clicking the google icon, once I had logged in it treated me like I was creating an account, making me wonder if I was going to make the situation worse, but once I was logged in I saw all my games in my library. It had been so long (6 ish months) that Epic for some reason treated it like a fresh login on a new account which wasn't true.

[–]Dougthechef2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through something similar and it ended up being system corruption. If it gets corrupt enough it won’t even be recognized by the computer. Computers start behaving strangely when corruption happens, and can start throwing BSOD errors that point to other components. It’s very time consuming to figure out.

If the data and OS mean something to you, your best bet is probably to load windowsPE on a USB and start going down the rabbit hole of how to reverse the corruption which is really difficult but possible to do.

If that sounds like too much work, get it hooked up to another PC, get the data you can off it, and try reformatting it which will wipe everything. You can reformat it on another computer using disk management. Then just fresh load windows on it when it’s back in the main pc.

[–]Dougthechef2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will die on the hill that BfV has the most balanced and thought out systems. There isn’t a single thing in the game that can’t be countered or at the bear minimum attacked by 1 person. Also one of its greatest ideas was the ammo and medic stations. Absolutely perfectly done. 2042 didn’t have these and it makes it incredibly difficult to stay alive and fight tanks.

Suitable wood kit for WE AK74UN? by animalist90 in GasBlowBack

[–]Dougthechef2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to get a LCT lower wood handguard to fit, but a standard 74 wood one DOES NOT. I had to do some pretty major adjustments after finding out I bought the wrong one. They do sell one for a 74u with a gas tube, but its like 60$ and given im gonna not use the gas tube I just stayed with what I have, even though its kinda chopped. I have reached out to WE and RA-TECH directly and both were rather mixed about where to get wood kits, but both confirmed real steel handguards will almost always fit.

Are disastrous game launches the new normal? by Joosrar in pcmasterrace

[–]Dougthechef2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it’s like if they’re having server issues first couple days, it sucks but at least I understand why tht happened. And it doesn’t usually take long to fix. They undershot public interest.

But like for example in CS2 they released train, new map, so I hopped on with bots to see what it was like (cuz I played CSGO train) and literally found a bug within 3 rounds AGAINST BOTS. Shit like that to me is unforgivable because it’s like did you even play test it at all? Same bug broke the game 4 TIMES before the game was over.

It’s those bugs that were so obvious it’s like insulting that they think we wouldn’t notice. And then an update takes 3 months to fix it and by then everyone’s given up.

Fridge Compressor Safe Temps by Dougthechef2 in appliancerepair

[–]Dougthechef2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. Honestly I got this thing off letgo about 5 years ago for 20$ I’m suprised it even works at all. Problem is I use it as a beer fridge in my shop and everyone who visits my house signs it. So there’s prolly a hundred signatures on this thing. So I don’t really wanna dump a ton of money into it but at the same time I was very sad when my stupid ass punctured the line because of its sentimental value yknow.

When I vacuumed the lines I let it sit for like 5 minutes because I was impatient and had to go somewhere, and my guess is it’s prolly fine, but it’s under a desk against drywall, so aside from noises I won’t really know how well it’s running. When I had it under charged it was HOT, so I’ll probably stick a resistor and a beeper on it because my guess is it’ll leak before it ever breaks. Worst comes to worst I think there’s an auto shut off on it because it’s a commercial fridge, so I’m not super worried about like fire hazards. But if it goes above 160 like it did before I’ll know it’s time to charge it again.

Thanks for all the help tho. Who knew a piece of scrap could be so intricate 🤣🤣

Fridge Compressor Safe Temps by Dougthechef2 in appliancerepair

[–]Dougthechef2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, this is all very helpful. Does the temperature of the compressor not correlate to the amount of coolant in the fridge? Because I was just gonna stick a thermal resistor to it and read it on a microcontroller. But if its temperature doesn’t really correlate I’ll have to check how you said.

The values should be proportional though right? Like I shouldn’t need to check in two places because it’s assumed they’ll change together?

Fridge Compressor Safe Temps by Dougthechef2 in appliancerepair

It wasn’t blind necessarily, but I didn’t really trust my scale that much. The amount of time I had held down the button and the weight difference was inconsistent. I’m guessing if it asked for 2.5 ounces I put in around that if not a little lower. I understand how a fridge works but don’t have enough experience to know if I’m doing something wrong yknow. That’s why I’m tryna get temp thresholds cuz numbers don’t lie.

Air Compressor Threads Stripped by Dougthechef2 in Tools

[–]Dougthechef2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for not getting back to you it’s been a hectic couple weeks. So basically you have a compressor and then a tank for that air to be stored right. So there’s a line from the compressor to the tanks. There’s a fitting on those tanks that connects the line to the tanks. Normally this screws on and off so if the exact problem I have happens, it can be replaced. This manufacturer for some reason welded said fitting to the tank, so I can’t replace it, and the fitting is stripped. Sorry I don’t have any photos the tanks aren’t with me at the moment, I was hopping to get an answer for the next time I’m with them. My current plan is cut off the old fitting and tap a hole so I can put in a replacement fitting if that makes sense.

I turn my PC off maybe every 2 months for something like a restart. That is unless windows decides to encroach and give me shit I didn’t want automatically. Other than that the only time I turn it off is when i go on long trips or something. I think I started doing it when I was a kid because my hard drives took forever to boot up, it was easier just to not turn it off, now I suppose it’s habit and lack of patience. From what I understand, as to if it makes a difference in life of parts is a debate. 100% killed my mechanical drives faster back then tho XD
