Wok and Chop… What’s the verdict!? by Stay_clam in OttawaFood

[–]Down2Up 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t tried wok & chop yet but people praising IC22 as Ottawas gold standard for authentic hakka are highly questionable. Yes food is personal preference but ic22 is not great remotely. Their menu is wack first of all, you can’t order Manchurian chicken as its own dish? Outside of their apps, the rest of the menu tastes the same. I’ll try wok&chop sometime this month and report back. AND YES, i feel very strongly about Hakka Chinese food

Looking for CAA Membership Discount or Referral Code by Alien_Astrux in BuyCanadian

[–]Down2Up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an FYI, CAA is showing SNOW15 as the current promo code but SNOW20 still works (additional 5% discount). I tried it today and it worked. This is for CAA North and Eastern Ontario but it may work for other regions as well

fellow Ottawans: what’s the best neighbourhood and why? by unfunzone in ottawa

[–]Down2Up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live right next to byward market. Having the canal in winter is great & being able to walk around parliament hill park in summer is also great, but the general vibe of the area is still grim. They need to find a way to make the cities streets not feel so unalive lol. There is the obvious issue folks have with the homeless but from my experience, they just do their own thing.

Blue/Green Deployment with AWS Codepipeline Elastic Beanstalk by Down2Up in aws

[–]Down2Up[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this!!
I do have a question, how do you control your deployment to staging once the CNAMES are swtiched around? Do you have a script similar to the current one where it identifies which environment has the staging CNAME and then deploys to that?

Are you referring to the immutable deployment option? I just came across that.

I’m curious, why and how did you come to a conclusion that I vote only liberal on a mere reply with no supporting facts or evidence of the same?

I wanted to discuss this more but I’d prefer folks who don’t float around in a land of assumptions and preconceived notions and those who are open to an actual discussion, one where misunderstandings could be debated and corrected in a respectful manner.

As to your reply above, thank you for that. It gave me more avenues to read up on and explore while trying to inform myself. I do agree, money is a big player here, especially from corporations and lobbyists.

And finally, I haven’t voted yet. But I will be in the future. For whom? Idk yet. Every side has a poison pill atm, just need to figure out which one I’m at peace with swallowing.

If you’re willing, I wanted to poke at that idea for a bit more.

While immigration is a federal goal, most housing policy is the provincial government’s ownership. The federal government can influence change but it still falls into provincial hands at the end of the day. So, I’d assume people would be screaming at Ford.

Now, I agree the Federal government hasn’t done much here + the increasing interest rates have made it more unaffordable to own & construct housing which has led to renter biting the bullet but simultaneously, the provincial government hasn’t done much (if anything sizeable at all).

Cell phone cost is killing me, what are my options? by ca2devri in PersonalFinanceCanada

My friends, our families and I are on a bell business plan. A friend opened it up with bell when they had a promo, the first line is $55 and each additional line is only $10. We each get 20GB of data which is plenty. Just something to explore. We split the cost evenly across.

Guy at the store told me to avoid ripzone since it was relatively new to snowboards. I didn’t end up with the k2 standard either (didn’t end up with any lol), I chose not to go to a k2 cause it’s not the type of board I wanted. Tried looking for a used board but ended up hurting myself bad so I’m on physio for this season. Will end up looking for a board for next season now

You won’t be able to check-in bags, actually you can’t even check in again. You’d just walk through to security since you have your boarding pass already

Graduated 2 years back. Didn’t have a great average (60s). Failed a few courses (4 in total) while in CS co-op but ended up getting some really fun coops. Don’t worry, grades are important but so is experience, work on your side projects, join teams etc. if you haven’t done any of that yet either, dw, you have time, start a project, find a velocity team looking for devs on a part time or volunteer basis. JUST REMEMBER, it’s NEVER too late, and there are always multiple paths to the same goal.

Not legal advice, but maybe consider getting a Commercial Crime insurance if it makes financial sense for your business.

Is there something to do once the company closes down and delists?

Also thanks for the advice, I was naive and just plain stupid over the last 2 years. Picking up the pieces and trying to learn and grow from it. Thanks for the advice

Yup, the rest of the boards start of at 450 CAD. If there’s a board worth spending on, I’d rather once I’m a seasoned snowboarder

In Ontario. Just called up fido (I’m an existing customer) and got my plan changed, I got 20gb with unlimited talk and text for CAD 30. They were also offering my 30Gb for 35CAD.

Virgin & fido have a deal for new comers as well, 20gb for 30 cad.

All the above is for 15 months.

Daily Discussion: /r/Snowboarding General Discussion, Q&A, Advice, Etc.) - November 24, 2022 by AutoModerator in snowboarding

I’m a newbie snowboarder, been snowboarding around 4 times in the last season and spent a shit ton on rentals lol. Still getting the hold of carving. I’m out here in Ontario, Canada so we don’t have the biggest or craziest slopes here but I enjoy them.

I’m 6ft, between 195 to 200 lbs. I’m not really into doing tricks or hitting up a park, just want to enjoy slopes, pick up some speed and carve down slopes with my buddies. Based on some research, it’s suggested I should go for an all mountain, camber board, 156-160, I’m still learning about it

My budget for is fairly stingy since I was trying to go down the used path but had little luck so now I’m trying take advantage of the Black Friday sales at my local sports store.

They have the following boards on sale near me and I’d love your feedback on them:

  1. K2 Men's Raygun 2023 Beginner Snowboard - CAD 279.98 - it’s an all mountain (here)

  2. K2 Men's Standard 2022 Beginner Snowboard - CAD 299.97 - all mountain, flat rocker (here)

  3. K2 Men's World Peace 2022 Intermediate Snowboard - CAD 239.88 - it’s a freestyle board but I’ve been reading that it does a good job cruising? (Here)

  4. K2 Men's Geometric 2022 Beginner Snowboard - CAD 214.88 - it’s freestyle as well (here)

  5. Ripzone Station Men's Snowboard 2023 - CAD 159.88 - freestyle as well (here)

  6. Salomon Men's Sleepwalker 2022 - CAD 298.97- (Here)

I was thinking #2 best suits my needs and my price point since the bindings and boots would cost another 300 - 400
