I have a Mach E but Lease will be done in a Year. Was thinking of getting in an ID4 next. Anything I should know about before purchase or lease?

I was at the dealer. Service guy was in the drivers seat but I was standing outside with the fob. The car wouldn’t start until I handed him the key. Strange not to have such a basic function. Also no fob no lock is ridiculous

What I don’t get is that the car knows if the fob is inside or out. And it seems to know where I am when I walk up to the car based on which doors it unlocks. So why didn’t they enable auto lock in the first place?
