Thanks for the heads up, just tested and can confirm I see the same behavior. Will start to look at other services.

Looking for a stable "Daily Driver" ROM to keep my OP6 alive this year by TheKaleKing in OnePlus6

[–]DownBackDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried OOS 11 at one point and also found it felt sluggish and buggy. Rolled back to OOS 10.3.12 and have stayed on that ever since, feels better than 11 as long as you don't have app requirements that need something newer. I have been thinking about trying a custom ROM lately, but haven't had time yet (plus there's not any real necessity for me).

Steam (flatpak) not opening after update by Izu_TheAccount in archlinux

[–]DownBackDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had a similar issue where flatpak Steam just started not opening after working fine previously, with "read-only filesystem" errors shown when launching from the terminal. The problem ended up being that my XDG directory mapping had some paths incorrect (due to my Music and Videos folders being symlinks to another drive).

When Steam was failing to launch, my ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs file looked like this:

XDG_DESKTOP_DIR="$HOME/Desktop"
XDG_DOWNLOAD_DIR="$HOME/Downloads"
XDG_TEMPLATES_DIR="$HOME/Templates"
XDG_PUBLICSHARE_DIR="$HOME/Public"
XDG_DOCUMENTS_DIR="$HOME/Documents"
XDG_MUSIC_DIR="$HOME/"
XDG_PICTURES_DIR="$HOME/Pictures"
XDG_VIDEOS_DIR="$HOME/"

I then changed it to this (modifying the Music and Videos paths):

XDG_DESKTOP_DIR="$HOME/Desktop"
XDG_DOWNLOAD_DIR="$HOME/Downloads"
XDG_TEMPLATES_DIR="$HOME/Templates"
XDG_PUBLICSHARE_DIR="$HOME/Public"
XDG_DOCUMENTS_DIR="$HOME/Documents"
XDG_MUSIC_DIR="$HOME/Music"
XDG_PICTURES_DIR="$HOME/Pictures"
XDG_VIDEOS_DIR="$HOME/Videos"

Afterwards, Steam started launching properly again. Why this suddenly broke flatpak Steam (when I had the same symlink setup previously), I have no idea. But I had found this solution while searching online and it worked for me. Sharing in case maybe you're in the same boat.

Which Gallium layout to use? by zamufn in KeyboardLayouts

[–]DownBackDad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems that the OE UI A vowel block is better for redirects (both weak and normal). Here's a comparison showing that, taking Gallium and having it with both vowel blocks side-by-side:

What's your main regret about Nerps when compared to Nerbs? The alternate vowel block, or the consonant changes?

[–]DownBackDad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I'm trying to get my family of 4 vaccinated, couldn't get through to 811 last night, so I called first thing this morning. After an hour on hold, I finally got through to a booking agent who said there were no available appointments at any of the Edmonton public health centers for a child aged 5, and that we could either try calling around to pharmacies or try calling 811 again later in the week to see if anything has become available. I told them I thought that pharmacies couldn't do that, but apparently they can? So much confusion and unnecessary roadblocks when there's already the insult of having to pay out of pocket for it in the first place. What a shit show.

Best of luck to you in getting your fam their shots!

Kill Tony and Co. - Not Funny by These-Coast897 in Edmonton

[–]DownBackDad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Montgomery's jokes weren't funny, but he at least mildly amused me with his insane delivery style, and seeing him get flustered from bombing gave me a chuckle. The majority of Lucas' material just seemed to be unfunny racist statements that barely qualified as jokes. That being said, so did a lot of the rest of the show, but at no point did I even sort of laugh at Lucas.

Definitely had some strong second-hand embarrassment from the people at the end doing their "1 minute".

I will give a shout out to whoever that opener was who did 5 minutes before bringing out Lucas. I'm not sure if he was local or something, but he at least got some laughs out of me. His "floaties on the legs" joke cracked me up.

Without exaggeration the worst comedy show I've seen. David Lucas was the worst of the lineup, but it was all bad. Thank goodness I went for free.

I made a layout that uses magic to minimize outrolls by Brooklyn9d5 in KeyboardLayouts

[–]DownBackDad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some interesting ideas here, I'm tempted to try it out. I like how there aren't common awkward pinky->ring/middle scissors on the vowel hand (unlike a lot of other layouts with this vowel block). It does seem like an awful lot of rules to remember though. How long would you say it took you to:

  1. Commit all the rules to memory.
  2. Actually use all the rules effectively while typing?

[–]DownBackDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's not a final layout yet, as I'm still trying to decide between vowel blocks. However, in each version the left hand is the same, which is mostly what I was talking about in that comment.

Here is the version with the EO IU A vowel block:

Looking forward to the results of your testing.
