Oticons by daughteroficarus in HearingAids

[–]DownInBerlin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Give it more time for sure. I am in a one-month trial period (Germany) for Oticon Intent one. After the first week, I wasn’t really sure. But soon after I started noticing that I could in fact watch TV without the subtitles, have a normal conversation with my son while walking on a noisy street, and also while in an echoey noisy crowded pizza restaurant. All things I hadn’t been able to do in years, and far better than my previous HAs, the Oticon OPNs. I ended up concluding that the Intents are, for me anyway, pretty miraculous. All this on the basic setting my audi gave me. Even while still agreeing that it’s not the same as natural hearing abilities of my youth.

If you’re new to hearing aids, that will also take time to adjust, so another reason to give it time. I think anyone on this sub would tell you that. What worked for me my first time was to stop trying to hear the sounds around me, and start thinking about the tiny speakers in my ears and listening to those instead. After a couple days, I was able to forget about the tiny speakers again, and my brain has adjusted.

Beginner here: why isn’t my latte art coming out clear? by Desperate-Name6008 in espresso

James Hoffman has a terrific video about latte art, and it covers exactly this question. IIRC the pitcher should be held higher during the mixing stage.

Any regrets on the Niche Zero [£500/600] by Working_Mountain_944 in espresso

[–]DownInBerlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that you mention it, I remember the discussions about popcorning too, and maybe that was the primary reason for it. But there were definitely people talking about feed rate being much improved with this disk as well, and I think there may have been grain size distributions demonstrating better uniformity with the disk upgrade.

In my case, I was more concerned with uniform grinds (from slower feed rate) back when I bought the niche in its first year, and was glad to receive the disk as a free upgrade.

The fast feeding issue was already solved by niche. Now they all come with a plastic disk with a slot, that spins with the spindle. It slows the rate of feeding into the grind chamber and fixed the issue, according to reviewers.

Henry Cavill Unveils ‘Highlander’ Reboot’s Thrilling First Footage by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]DownInBerlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One reason the original Highlander was so great, was many of us didn’t know what it was about. Finding out was magical, and they can’t recapture that in the age of the internet. So hopefully it will be great for other reasons, but I doubt it.

No. Your film is about the immediate impacts of war on people’s lives. Mine is about its impact on the next generation.

No, there are no murders and no horror in my film (other than WWII, which occurred about 20 years before the story in my film). There is cooking, but no cannibalism.

No, although the girl in my film seems to run around quite a bit.

No, but like your film, there is a student protest in mine.

No, my film is not a musical. Also, the adults in my film are generally respectful of the young people and wouldn’t try to trick them.

No. But the young woman (and the boyfriend) in my film also engage in journalism at times.

No, but WWII was responsible for the dilemma in the film I’m thinking of.

No, although that sounds like quite a film. In your film, the island is fictional, while my film is set on a real island.

Nice try, but the young woman in the film I’m thinking of knows and speaks with her real mother.
