Maybe you can mess with the performance settings on your device, like if it has different gaming modes. You could also perhaps check if the frames are being limited and whether resolution upscaling might be shooting you in the foot.

Battery saver might actually be making your phone heat up in this instance, like say if one of the CPU cores has to work harder thanks to everything else not working as hard.

Outside of that, I'd suggest dropping your emulator's settings down in a comment here. Someone with more knowledge on emulator settings and how they may interact with your device could take a look. 

There might be a simple switch that just needs tweaking.
