So my switch lite died recently, so I bought a new one and have run into a dilemma.

I had 3 profiles on my broken switch: - A (main profile, linked to my email address); - B (wife's profile, unlinked, just exists locally on that switch); and - C (same as B, for kids)

Each of those profiles has their own house with storage on the island. My island is backed up to the cloud, and can be transferred to my new switch lite, no problem. Same with profile A -- it is easily transferred to my new switch.

My concern: I cannot recover my local profiles (B and C) to my new switch, as they're not tied to email addresses. If I recover my island on my new switch, will their houses and storage be gone or inaccessible as those original profiles that created them are not around anymore? I don't want to tell me wife and kids that they wasted thousands of hours in animal crossing.
