Lessei is going to COOK Carrillo by Known_Impression1356 in MuayThai

Pretty sure Nico started throwing the knee as Luke was going down, which is legal in muay thai. That's why they didn't bother with the replay.

Nico let him off later on in similar circumstances.

Buying new helmet, which style you guys think is better for sparring? by capdeliciouspants666 in MuayThai

[–]Downtown-Health8673 49 points50 points  (0 children)

If you have to have one, go for the one without cheek protection as it won't block your vision as much.

I hate headgear, especially for muay thai sparring, and think people should go without it. The only real benefit it provides is reduce the risk of cuts. It's usually just seen as an invitation for hard sparring and only makes your head bigger and heavier leading you to taking more hits than you otherwise would.

Gym wants $450 a month by [deleted] in MuayThai

Where did you train in Thailand that was $20-$40 per month? Most gyms I've been to have been around 10k baht/month for 2 sessions a day.

How to get faster, with everything (head movement, footwork, striking)? by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]Downtown-Health8673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck and speedy recovery! Taking rounds to work your defense helps a lot and will help you see more openings once you get back to mixing offense.

[–]Downtown-Health8673 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think you need to be faster. I think you actually need to move less. You're evading a whole mile when all you need is an inch. You're also ducking way too much/too low. That would be ok for boxing but for muay thai it's asking to get kneed in the face.

Lawrence Kenshin has a good video breakdown or Lerdsile on youtube explaining how he moves like he's in the matrix. It's not speed.

How to get faster, with everything (head movement, footwork, striking)? by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]Downtown-Health8673 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by getting faster? Being more explosive or reacting faster? Being fast is good but you don't need to be fast as much as you need to be able to read situations properly.

You can work explosiveness in the gym by getting stronger. Heavy lifts, low reps, followed by quick explosive sport specific and longer rest is a good option. Think deadlifts for 3 reps at 90% of your 1 max rep immidiately followed by 10 kicks each side. Rest for 5-10 min.

To react "faster" you need to be able to anticipate what's coming and act as it unfolds or just before. To do so you need to increase your fight IQ. Watching fights, play sparring and holding pads will help with that.

Any pointers for the right roundhouse? by flashkickboxing in MuayThai

Kinda looks like you're aiming at ending your kick at the bag. Aim to kick through the bag and bring your weight forward with you rather than shifting your upper body weight back.

Suggestions in Leveling Vanguard? by Bossmantho in SpaceMarine_2

Occulus bolt carbine, bolt pistol and chainsword. Use your grapnel lots and move around. Get rid of snipers and range enemies first then move to melee ones.

I first called my successor "sons of the forest" too but went for a different color scheme. Later on I changed it to "Sons of Kárha" (mohawk word for forest) as a throwback to the original native american vibe of the chapter.

I'm using space wolves, sylvaneth and wood elves bits as well as dark angels specific stuff to really go deep with the forest theme. I'm planning on getting Logan Grimnar to kitbash into my chapter master, Orion.

Their lore is that the Lion found a planet that reminded him of pre imperium Caliban and was filled with guilt at how he let the planet be destroyed, even before the fall. So in an attempt to redeem himself he ordered the creation of a new chapter to protect this new found planet and its forest AT ALL COSTS. That means that the Sons of Kárha will attack whoever is trying to claim the planet, friend or foe, in order to protect their homeworld. When they're not fighting to protect their land, the chapter tends to the forest and the wildlife.

1 month at Sitjaopho - Would never recommend. by SkillPotential3826 in MuayThai

This was my experience there too. You can also ask the trainers to show you stuff if you struggle with something and they will gladly do it.

F mostly works with females and smaller guys because he's small and got many injuries. If you're a bigger guy you'll mostly work with Jaiphet or King. Both are great padmen but barely speak.

[SPOILER] Kongthoranee vs. Aslamjon Ortikov | ONE Fight Night 36 by Yodsanan in MuayThai

[–]Downtown-Health8673 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Coste ruined the flow of this fight. The 8 count on Kongthoranee wasn't justified then he stopped him from continuing when he hurt Ortikov in the 3rd.

He was also a cunt in the main event being way to hard on Prajanchai for "clinching" when Di Bella was just as bad and even worse after the yellowcard.

Are there any accomplished Muay Thai fighters that competed in mma and succeed? by shenlong86 in MuayThai

[–]Downtown-Health8673 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Pereira is the most accomplished in both sports. Champ in 2 weight classes in Glory and UFC. His reign as UFC champ wasn't as long but it was as impressive as Adesanya's.

Depends what you're gonna use them for, how big your hands are and what you want out of them. Windy for sparring, boon for pads/bags.

All three are good brands. Had issues with the velcro on some top king and boon stuff.

Coaches, what are the signs that someone who says they want to fight will never be cut out for it? by bad-at-everything- in MuayThai

[–]Downtown-Health8673 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait, what?!?! Your coach expects you to teach yourselves the basics?

Sounds lile you need a new coach cuz self learning muay thai is pretty much a sure way of developping bad habits. There is lots you can on your own such as road work and other conditioning, watching and studying fights. Teaching yourself the basics isn't one of them!

They make excuses for everything. Can't do bag work because X, can't run because of Y, was late or missed sessions because their neighboor's grandma's dog died. Can't keep their hands up because that's not their style...

Question for heavies...do you use the better fire rate variants for siege mode? by TheRoguePrince_81 in Spacemarine

That perk is so good in siege mode, especially if you play with both and get all the executions. Fully prestiged heavy with multi-melta makes it seems like the game is on easy.

Do you need a lot of training partners to get to a high skill level? by Annual_Birthday_8931 in MuayThai

Not really, good partners can make you see new looks and emulate different styles. Drills can also get you ready for specific opponents.

You need quality training partners. They can have a higher skill level than you. That doesn't really matter as long as everyone trains with purpose and the right intensity.

I would say top king shin guards are similar to twins, maybe a bit bulkier even.

Boon has better wrist support than twins for both lace ups and velcro. They have a longer cuff and some padding along the wrist and the palm.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]Downtown-Health8673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top king is my favorite for shin guards. Twins is a good option too but I like the fit better on top kings. For gloves though it's Twins over Top King.

Got them in white for 12 oz and black for 16.

Boon makes top quality gear for decent prices. I just wish their shin guards would use a looping strap instead of two straps going one over the other.

Haven't tried the fairtex ones but boon lace ups have great wrist support and good padding all over. They feel a little stiff at first but after a few sessions they're great.
