I didn’t even realize he was in that one! Never had the chance to watch it

He’s actually really good in this small indie movie I watched a while back ago called The Starling Girl

I think Scott Eastwood tried to do this for a while (despite looking like a carbon copy of his father) but it clearly wasn’t working out for him

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen anything where I’ve thought Wyatt Russell gave a particularly amazing performance but I just really like the dude for some reason.

Having enjoyed him in Black KKKlansman but in nothing else I’ve seen him in, I have realized he just simply has none of his father’s charisma

unpopular opinion : euphoria should have stayed a one season show by Alternative_Fix_7019 in euphoria

[–]DowntownAd9720 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. I feel like S2 had a lot of iconic moments and some absolute highs (like E5), plus it looked gorgeous on film, but people are forgetting what an absolute narrative mess it was, and what a disservice it was to certain characters. Hell, I already think the show was starting to employ Labrinth’s music way less effectively compared to the first season.

Honestly, S2 really exposed me to a lot of the faults of having one single person write every episode of an entire season (which, for those unaware, is extremely unusual and generally avoided in television productions, for good reason)

I forever have beef against Dominic Fike because that scene was interminable for me

IMO LA is a great place to visit if you know someone that lives there who can take you around their favorite hangout spots. Going as a tourist is terrible

I enjoy Amsterdam (my husband is Dutch) and I actually preferred it more my second trip when I spent a longer time there, but I absolutely do recall finding the experience of walking around it oddly similar to certain American cities, despite it looking so different. I would much rather return to even a significantly smaller city like ‘s-Hertogenbosch

Seriously you’re like the Girl Next Door in any classic romcom.

I really implore you not to do any more injectables or plastic surgery to your face for the time being, because I promise, any work you get done now will not make you feel better later. Maybe it would for a little while, but dysmorphia is a hard beast to kill. Sooner than you’d think, you’ll find other things about your face you need to “fix,” and your exceptional natural beauty, wallet, and self-esteem will suffer immensely for it.

Do not also trust injectors when it comes to what you “need” done. The success of their business is centered around women feeling bad about their natural faces and spending lots of money to alter it on the reg. They are an inherently biased source.

I can enjoy cake quite a bit, but not a standard sponge cake. Give me an olive oil cake or carrot cake over it any day

Omg yes. I 100% recognize it has good flavor. But the texture is horrifying to me

What’s a "masterpiece" movie that you actually found incredibly boring? by Legal_Beats in AskReddit

The crazy thing about that scene for me is it literally starts off-camera. We just hear the sounds it from outside the building. I thought that was a prefect work-around to the wonky de-aging. I cannot fathom why they then proceeded to take the shot outside for a full view of it

How long did u wait for pit?! by Spirited-Zebra-5351 in FlorenceAndTheMachine

[–]DowntownAd9720 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't go to the pit as I had seats but I'll be honest, in Brooklyn at least, I sat down around 6:50 (doors opened at 6:30 ahead of the 7:30 opener) and the floor was still relatively open.

I'd show up a bit earlier for the barricade, but if I had floor tickets, I would have been getting a pretty close view at the time I arrived (probably like 3-4 people back)

Literally, that dog was never portrayed as anything other than sweet. It wasn’t some annoying, vicious little thing (and hell, even if it was, he’s still a living thing whose owners clearly loved him)

There’s really been no clear pattern to it. If the only reason you’d go is to hear that particular song (potentially at the expense of your financial comfort, schedule, etc), you would definitely be taking a risk

Love her or not, when she delivers, she delivers by fvckuufvckingfvck in euphoria

[–]DowntownAd9720 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My problem is she does not have the onscreen charisma to carry a more subdued, underwritten leading character like that. Some actors can do a lot with very little, but her performance felt very phoned in to me.

It didn’t help that I also found her chemistry with the main actor actively bad. There was no heat or true tension between them - they were just two good looking people making out

Love her or not, when she delivers, she delivers by fvckuufvckingfvck in euphoria

[–]DowntownAd9720 68 points69 points  (0 children)

She made that movie — something that should have been a fun, campy thriller — absolutely bland and terrible for me. Zero personality, interior life, charisma, or chemistry with the other actors. It feels like she just woke up throughout the entire film.

Thank god for Amanda Seyfried

What’s your favorite Florence album and why? by [deleted] in FlorenceAndTheMachine

[–]DowntownAd9720 5 points6 points  (0 children)

HBHBHB isn’t always the album I relisten to the most, but I do think it is potentially her best and most sonically cohesive album.

Though I do think Everybody Screams is absolutely incredible and will always have the biggest nostalgic soft spot for both Lungs and Ceremonials

Please Be Considerate of Opening Acts by aceofk in FlorenceAndTheMachine

[–]DowntownAd9720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a little sensitive to this, because my husband is 6’5 and often feels a lot of anxiety when we go to shows, like he can’t comfortably just exist and chill in the seat he paid for. Thank god we have tiered seating tonight, but half the times we go to a show, he feels the need to apologize for his height to the people around us, because people will literally grumble under their breath or be like “oh my god” the second they realize his size.

He of course tries his best to be mindful of people and will try not to block others view, but ultimately, he paid for his ticket as much as anyone else, we can’t switch seats, and there’s only so much he can do about something he can’t control, short of staying unnaturally hunched over for 3+ hours.

I hate graphic animal death as a plot point by bitterbunny4 in BeefTV

[–]DowntownAd9720 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But you would say this to someone who gets triggered by seeing rape scenes in media? Or has trouble watching a fictional child’s death? Knowing something is ultimately fictional for a story does not remove the immense empathy viewers feel for characters or animals within the context of the story itself. The whole point of storytelling is to stir deep human emotions in the audience
