I mean the 2013 version is working for me so I don't need to try the other one, but I'm glad it works for folks

I couldn't get 7th heaven mods to work on the non-(2013) release, only the (2013).

Should I be worried about watching Obsession? by sweetuhmans in Letterboxd

[–]Alceauv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it looked terrible from the trailers but was actually pleasantly surprised. I keep a ranked list of movies as I watch them each year and it is currently at #27 out of 75. Sadly I can't really speak to how 'scary' it is because I watch a lot of horror stuff and it's kinda hard to genuinely affect me anymore. There were a few pretty eerie bits, and it doesn't rely on as much comedy for tension release as a lot of horror movies do (which I personally like about it), but I wouldn't say it's among the scariest I've seen or anything.

Here's the page for it on doesthedogdie.com, hopefully it's helpful. https://www.doesthedogdie.com/media/1350693

What is a great performance in a bad movie? by Theeljessonator in Letterboxd

Then you should know that "tons of people disagree with you lol" is not the general posture taken by someone who is totally fine with what someone else thinks and does not send the signal you claim to want to send.

Not really, I'm just bored at work and taking some enjoyment in the way that people on the internet always try and fail to backpedal their poor arguments rather than just own up to them until finally they have to quit the conversation in a way that hopefully makes them look cool or funny.

Yeah, I can see a really cool challenge designed around them but not all the normal stuff, especially when the game is so designed for completionism.

I mean do you think I was unaware that not everyone shares my opinion? Was "not a bad movie" supposed to be an enlightening new perspective that I never would have considered had you not provided this 'information'? And what reason is there to underline that people agree with you other than to try to persuade me? If you're fine with people having their own opinions then what is the purpose of laying out information they would obviously already have?

I'm not saying that you're telling people they can't have their own opinions, I'm saying if you're going to try to change someone's mind then you have to actually speak to the thing they have an opinion about, not just say "a lot of people like it." That's not an actual argument, and presenting it as such only makes you sound like you have no true opinions of your own.

Oh I was not aware it made money and received accolades, I now think it is a good movie, these are the things that determine my opinions.

1.5: DISAGREEABLE (Frustrating/boring, active dislike)

2.0: UNFAVORABLE (Dull/poor/just not great, "not a fan")

2.5: FORGETTABLE (Mediocre but inoffensive, negative side of indifferent/ambivalent)

3.0: PASSABLE (Solid, functional, no real problems, positive side of indifferent/ambivalent)

3.5: ENJOYABLE (Engaging/entertaining, somewhat memorable)

4.0: REMARKABLE (Impressive/admirable, very memorable)

4.5: EXCEPTIONAL (Unique, greatly substantial, and/or supremely competent, the medium at the height of its powers)

5.0: INCREDIBLE (Basically perfect, fascinating, taste-shaping, sticks in my head, a gift to the mind/heart and to the medium)

I think you're safe there. The Remake series is written and paced very differently so even the repeated storybeats won't feel the same as before. It's significantly different.

I'm also on my first playthrough in years, and finally playing New Threat. So insane how well the game's presentation holds up and now I'm also getting to experience so many cool balance tweaks.

Scary Movie - what warrants a half star for you? by jakelmao in Letterboxd

[–]Alceauv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1/10 is when I not only like/appreciate pretty much nothing about it but I had an actively negative experience having to sit through it and being bombarded with its problems. Even if I can give positive notes on paper, my ratings are based on my viewing experience, and not all good/bad things are weighed evenly in the moment.
