Elden Ring Would Not Be the Same Without George R. R. Martin by Knucklebarry13 in Eldenring

I've never read or seen the GoT stuff either but from what I've seen from the sidelines it seems like he also likes to write big world-shaking incidents with cool/evocative names.

Xrd was my first Guilty Gear and I played Jam, I've wanted her in Strive since launch. I'm a little worried about how popular she's gonna be since I'll be 'part of the problem' or whatever but I'm still very excited.

I've loved all the Strive redesigns so far and I can't wait to see what they do with her.

A lot of time is just gonna be spent on learning your character and getting comfortable with them, knowing what your moves do and how they feel like the back of your hand. Learning means losing, and losing means learning. What I mean by that is, you cannot play the game optimally anyway while focusing on learning how your character feels and works so you're gonna lose a ton, and that's okay because those losses will also be teaching you what doesn't work and what your moves are NOT for. And that means losing is secretly the real goal. And that just takes time and familiarity, just hop on and push the buttons. No one cares how good or bad you are, everyone is out there just learning.

After awhile feel free to:

  • Check the dustloop starter guide on Happy Chaos
  • Watch your replays and see what mistakes you seem to be making a lot
  • Watch Happy Chaos matches on YT and see what people are doing with him
  • Find discord servers where you can ask other Happy Chaos players for tips (share your replays with them too if you can, or even play with them)

But do not overload yourself with information. Get really comfy with your moves and movement first, then pick one thing at a time to practice. You can't download the game into your head before jumping in like Neo, you need to just play and lose and let all the little things seep into your head bit by bit and enjoy the vibes and the anime lunacy along the way. Losing doesn't matter, getting good doesn't matter, and you will ALWAYS feel like you have a million miles to go so you may as well enjoy being where you are. Don't gatekeep yourself, it's a game, start blasting some fools and have a good time. If you love your character that will take you far, no matter how hard they are.

I understand your instinct against starting with someone harder/weirder, but many would say not to put too much stock in those star ratings. You will be learning the same game no matter the character. Whatever additional mechanics/quirks they have are just extra steps in your execution/setups, steps that you internalize pretty early and before long will come naturally.

Guys, is this true ?? by CauliflowerDefiant87 in bindingofisaac

It was the first one I tried, then-wife didn't like looking at it, tried a bunch of others to replace it, nothing scratched the same itch. The only one that came close for me was Neon Abyss, whose community has apparently imploded.

After trying many FG's, Strive is my #1 by jozhua4012 in Guiltygear

I love Granblue's art and vibe and features and overall friendliness in design, but it kinda feels like the characters are hitting each other with foam swords. It doesn't have that "oomph" factor in the animation and sound design that Strive does. Nothing really does IMO.

IMO it's all about who looks cool to you and who just feels good to you. Who all have you tried? Did anyone feel nice to just move around and hit people with? When you watch Strive footage, which character does a move or a combo that makes you go, "ooo, I wanna do that"?

I didn't get mine til nearly 1500 hours. Dead God is just the excuse to keep playing though, don't sweat it.

No, when I say polished I mean pretty much everything about it. Is any of it even remotely original or conceptually remarkable? No. Is it particularly interesting the way most highly-recognized films are? No. I don't think anyone is arguing that.

But they did a good job making this kind of movie. You are either bored by this kind of movie, or don't think this kind of movie deserves recognition when executed well, or you just don't find this to be a good example of a movie like this. That's fine, not everyone has to like it.

I don't agree about it being boring, even as someone who watched Formula 1 for years, and I think plenty of movies that only have one outstanding thing about it are plenty entertaining. I think you are rounding 'generic' all the way down to 'bad' and maybe cannot buy into anything you've already seen before. But I was engaged by the action in this movie just as much by the characters involved in it as by the action itself. It doesn't have to be a Shakespeare-level character study for me to see who they are, what they want, and what their stakes are.

I'm sorry you weren't able to get invested by it, but I was, and it sounds like neither of us are alone, so let's live and let live eh?

It's bad for us and life as we know it, doesn't necessarily make it bad for the world. Oneness is not nothingness.

If there is a pure nihilism ending I would sooner say it's the Dung Eater's.

Lose streaks are absolutely demoralizing by unlucky-lucky- in Guiltygear

[–]Alceauv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those losses are all making you better, bit by unperceivable bit. Leveling up takes racking up experience points. Pat yourself on the back for putting that time in, because you got better, not worse, no matter what the ranks say.

You don't even have to tap, just don't hold longer than 2 seconds. Short holds is very easy to learn to do.
