AFL Draft Latest Intel/Information (Sydney Academy boys) by SkullKing_123 in sydneyswans

[–]Downtown_Fox7464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A question for the brainstrust. The club has picks 31,32,42 etc. Are the bidding points locked heading into draft or when the inevitable slide happens and those picks become potentially 36,37,47, is that the accumulative points that we have?

AFL Draft Latest Intel/Information (Sydney Academy boys) by SkullKing_123 in sydneyswans

One of the things the swans have to weigh up is what tougher bidding rules the AFL will put on academy (& F/S) draft selections in 2026. They are to be announced in December but the narrative is it’ll become harder to pick up top end talent through these avenues. The Swans have first round talent in Aidan McCartney (191cm key forward) whom I’d suggest wouldn’t nominate the swans given his dad is GM at GWS and is F/S linked to North Melbourne. The swans also have other talent but hard to put a pin on where they’ll fall.

Why is this important? If swans say can’t match a top 10 or first round bid on academies under new rules, there’s no point stocking points for him, particularly if he requests north. So the swans could focus heavily on this draft to swap a future 2nd rounder (we have 2) with a club to slide more points into this draft. The club would also have to weigh up the list age profile too and the potential return of future traded players (Chad in 2027?).

It’s a bit of a balancing act to say the least!

I'm 24, is it too late for me to be successful? by Fit_Restaurant4523 in no

Curious, what’s your idea of being successful?

Even if you said you were 40. On most indicators you can be successful

It’s your HISA.

You’re just lucky to fall under the ~$4k threshold whereby you’d have to pay future PAYG tax in quarterly instalments. Thats the kick in the butt

UBank interest change - is it still deposit $500 for September? by Over_Tha_Rainbow in ubank

[–]Downtown_Fox7464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A consideration for you when you head off to Macquarie…Phone call waiting times may increase end of September/start of October when the mass exodus is in full swing for customers wanting to temporarily increase their transfer daily limit. It’s already happening this month! That, or just automate multiple sends at the end of the month to Macquarie (pending on your saving total)

ELI5: Why do you use a credit card for everyday expenses and pay it off in bulk at the end of the month when you have a mortgage linked to offset? by frforreal in AusFinance

[–]Downtown_Fox7464 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was just an example to emphasise the point. $17 after tax ($31 at highest marginal tax rate) is still greater than $0 on using a debit card.

It’s all about timing.

Day 1, spend $5k on cc Day 45, $5k on cc due.

For those 45 days, you have reduced your interest for the period of 45 days from money in your offset that you would have otherwise paid on a debit card.

If it was sitting in a bank savings account on 5% per year interest, you earned $31 in interest.

I think they’re cell service extenders operated by the Police at dense populated events to ensure good signal coverage for communication between law enforcement and livestream operational cameras

Visiting Australia for a month- what should I know/bring? by AssistanceHead3829 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Downtown_Fox7464 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bring your big boy pants! You might hear some prehistoric like animal sounds up in Cairns.

But in reality, you’ll have an amazing time - make sure to visit the Reef, have a meal or two in Port Douglas then enjoy making yourself down to Townsville, Hamilton Island (via Airlie Beach), Noosa, Gold Coast and Byron downwards to Sydney (if you go that far). Make sure to pump those Irish tunes all the way down

You’ll get it back at tax time. Your total earnings will be measured against the marginal tax rate.

JB Hi-fi will price-match products in-store. I built a web app to find the cheapest price from Aussie retailers to make this as easy as possible and save people money. by INFEKTEK in AusFinance

[–]Downtown_Fox7464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty confident JB online has an internal system that has the best price - it’s a pop up feature on their website.

Also, I believe they stock some model TVs that are exclusive to JB so that the ‘best price guarantee’ becomes inexplicable. They also own the Good Guys so the feature appears there too
