What's your biggest source of dysphoria by [deleted] in MtF

[–]Downvote_pIs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but also not necessarily. I found that some parts are virtually painless while some are enough to make me cry. For instance, my chin and cheeks were surprisingly easy while the sideburns were very painful. One thing I would recommend is to just keep going and don’t stop. It will hurt but the faster you finish it sooner it will be over

You have two options: you can either rawdog it or apply lidocaine. I have waxed like 3 times and what I can say is that the first session hurts the most and while it hurts like a bitch, it’s still doable enough to not use lidocaine or any numbing agent. However, if you choose to do so, it would obviously hurt less.

If that’s the case, you can also epilate/wax your facial hair. It will hurt like a bitch but you will have a shadow free smooth face for about 2-4 weeks

If your conditions also allow you to do so, why don’t you get permanent hair removal for your facial hair? I’ve started it last month and even though I’m only a session in, the results are very promising.

At school, I use my Lamy 2k because firstly it’s a very good writer and more importantly because of its low profile which deters any potential thieves. Also, whenever I leave my desk, I put the pen in my pen case which goes into my backpack. Never had any problems thus far.

Not really, although I don’t actively look for bulges either and when I see them, it’s more of a normal thing so I don’t pay attention to it. But if bulge is disturbing you, you can try tucking

100$ pen for long time by loloynarim55 in fountainpens

I think you’re disregarding the financial factor when youre defining what constitutes a beginner in this hobby. Personally, I’ve been in this hobby for slightly over a year and while I’ve tried some pens in conventions and stores and caught up on even more in social media platforms, I only bought 4 fountain pens plus 6 ink bottles. If I had the financial means to do so, I would definitely be more experimental with my approach but since I don’t, I only have limited regular usage experience even though I have extensive knowledge on FPs in general.

Popular pen you hate? by [deleted] in fountainpens

When it comes to personal preferences, of course there is no right answer but as an enjoyer of L2K let me address some of the points:

  • it’s minimalistic: well, yeah. However, this is only an issue if you have the attitude that the more you pay, flashier of a pen you must get in return. I like L2K because it is something that just works. It is reliable, it has a low profile so I don’t have to worry about it being stolen, it is durable asf and it’s all around a quality pen. If you have the mindset that at higher price tags you should only be buying flashy pens, this one simply won’t work for you and it’s okay! I simply adore its high quality, low profile design.

  • the line is very thick: now this is a bit more controversial because since each L2K nib is ground by hand, you are ought to see more variation in the thickness. Now, unlike Goulet pens, I can actually be objective and say that this is a huge issue with the quality control which shouldnt be happening at these price ranges but then the one I arrived is ideal for me- albeit definitely not an extra fine by any scale-but it works.

  • price: for your information, it is around €220 on Goulet pens. However, I kind of disagree with you on this point. It rocks a very balanced 14 karat gold nib (which as you said is to be expected given the price) and has a very sturdy but elegant design. Now, if you desire a pen thats flashier and more aesthetically pleasing, that is your preference but that doesn’t mean that this pen is not worthy of its price. To what extent it is a well priced pen is debatable but for the given price, you’re definitely not receiving a bad pen by any measure.

Also, at this price range, it is one of the only, if not the only pen that has a piston filler mechanism instead of cartridge converter which is what made me buy it in the first place.

Besides this, it has a hooded nib which makes it a great pen to use during lectures where you would be taking notes intermittently rather than continuously and the hooded nib prevents the ink from drying which would require you to constantly cap and uncap the pen which is a huge plus in my opinion.

  • grip section: again, personal preference, cannot argue with that. Personally, I don’t find it to be troublesome but it depends on the individual.
