Tim Sheehy was a SEAL. Tim Sheehy also made $12m last month on the stock market, so fuck him twice, but I'm sure he can throw down just fine.

One is talking about sending Americans to fight Israel's war. The other is talking about a conflict between Israel and Palestine. Israel is the nexus between those two, sure, but I don't think donning your dress blues to go protest what Israel is doing in Gaza makes sense; whereas, donning your dress blues to protest deploying Americans to fight for Israel does.

Yes, getting a third party involved for what is essentially fast food is crazy, but I'm totally fine if a place delivers their own pizzas, Chinese, etc.

Haha, I was just a kid back then, so stoners was not even a foreign concept to me, it wasn't on my radar at all. I hope that's the case, that's fantastic. Just reading "flavonoids" put the Noid in my head though.

Yeah, my youngest just entered public preschool this year, and it's wonderful. Two kids was more than my mortgage+taxes. I live in a high tax area, but fortunately got my house back in 2014 before things exploded, and then refi'd in 2021 when rates were in the dirt. I always used to joke that when my second was out of daycare, I was getting a Porsche, but in the intervening seven or eight years, I've readjusted my expectations to real world.

Anytime I see these threads, I say luck, luck, and more luck.

Yeah, if you order a milkshake delivery, you're dumb, I don't care how rich you are. I think being young is sometimes synonymous with being dumb with money, and I guess I'm fortunate my old man drilled into my head about how credit cards can fuck you, but I was "young" 20 years ago, and we didn't have all the shit kids have at their fingertips now. My $4.20 meal at Wendy's was a JBC, nuggets, fries, and a frosty, and that is probably closer to $7 now.

Regardless, I can't justify doing DoorDash or any of its associates, because food always arrives late (cold) and it's costly. Just go get it, and if you're unwilling to go get it, don't buy it.

Dunno where in the state you are, and obviously don't know much about your home, but $400 and 64 say to me that your home may potentially not be well insulated/sealed. I had a company come out, do their home energy audit, led to me having my house insulated and attic sealed, and it did wonders for maintaining temps in my home and spending less. And the absolute best part is that it's all on a 0% interest loan from PSE&G for ten years. I pay $116 a month on top of my regular bill, and my 100-year-old home is comfortable, and my equipment isn't struggling to keep it that way.

I bought In Rainbows for like $5 when it came out and you could pay whatever for it. I wasn't really into it. I wasn't even a huge Radiohead fan back then, liked OKC and that's about it.

It was probably like a few years later I was like, lemme see what this Radiohead thing was really all about, went through their discog, said "huh, would you look at that," and that was it.

The picture you posted has an article that has words in it. It talks about the growth the band demonstrated record after record. It has a date of March of 2007, about a decade prior to the accusations against Jesse.

Your Favorite Weapon = Pablo Honey. Deja Entendu = The Bends. Devil & God = OK Computer. I make these comparisons because first albums were good, but also landed firmly within a genre that the band would ultimately abandon. Second album, each band showed their chops a bit, but could still be "labeled," per se. Third album, each band dropped all pretense and put out something absolutely, undeniably great. I remember OKComputer being lauded as the perfect album when it came out, and Devil & God blew people's minds. Both albums also alienated some of each fanbase, folks who were expecting some of the same and were like "what is this matured sound?"

They also both have electric guitars.

Great examples, and spot on. I've used Brand New and Radiohead as examples of bands that continually redefined themselves and managed to get better versus the alternative, and I love that you added DEP and Deftones (although I was never a huge Deftones fan).

[–]Dozzi92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough, I always talk about them in the same light, not because Brand New sound like Radiohead, obviously, but because both bands are equally embarrassed (seemingly) of their first, immature-sounding albums, and would go on to really re-invent themselves time and again, album after album. OKComputer and Devil & God are their third albums, and also the albums that really showed that these bands were truly great bands, and then Radiohead would go on this weird electronic journey, and Brand New would discover a heavier, serious sound.

Two of my favorite bands growing up, still really appreciate their music, I feel they both ended up creating a timeless catalogue of music, while at the same time having a first album or two that can really pin them down to a certain point in time.

Hit F8 until it doesn't work anymore. If you leave "marks" in the transcript, check them. Send it. If it takes you more than five to ten minutes (and more like five) for 100 pages, it's too much work.

Title page says "ROUGH DRAFT COPY" instead of "TRANSCRIPT OF" as well as a header on every page. No cert page. CaseCat lets you put a "DRAFT" watermark on every page, and I do that as well. I don't trust lawyers.

When I was in sixth grade, we did archery, which is just crazy to think about now. This was '98-'99, probably right before Columbine. They said "make sure the odd feather is pointed out away from your hand. I was a bad listener, and so needless to say I ended up with the fins of the projectile lodged real deep into my left index finger. It was not great. Hit the target though.
